Yep. Haley is Sgt. Schultz recreated - "I see nothing, I hear nothing", etc. How she rose to be Governor of South Carolina and the US Ambassador to the UN boggles the mind. As a current purveyor of the old "Southern Strategy", she is a gas-lighter, liar, and manipulator of the highest order. But she seems so "sweet". Right? Not!!!

Kent, so “Bless Her Heart” is quite fitting, no?

You got it brother! Said with a syrupy southern accent! ;-)

Mr. Dill, Haley’s words betray her biases, as yours betray your own. There is nothing wrong with her accent.

Sorry if I offended you ma'am! No offense intended. It's just that it's a fairly, well-known fact that some Southerner's can be very sweet to your face, and then have bad intentions behind your back. I was alluding to that when Haley talks "hidden agenda" talking points with her nice Southern drawl. ;-)

Well said; I’ve experienced it first hand...:)

Nikki sure swings those arms and hands while pointing that finger! Not very polished, huh?

Then that nasty, snarky side comes out? So shallow and far from as smart as she thinks she is?

I don’t know what to say anymore, Steve. I read, I listen and find that disgust has settled within me.

Chris Christie, bridge gate, beach closer. That Guy. No Thank you.

Can't trust any Republican, these days. Women always gotta carry a gun, these days to fend off would be rapists, or get raped and have to keep the bastards child, and pay if she tries to resort to out of state illegal abortions. 10,000 is not an option, stand your ground, shoot that animal. Laws must work for us too. Nobody sane wants to have to shoot anyone, but the party of gun stock-up, NRA too Big to fail, bunch!

Steve, I know you know much, your strategic in your picks and you specialize in strategy for the Republican party. Is there anyone that isn't running, Not aiming to screw Americans? If so pursue them. I am a 62 yr old woman and I am biting mad at the Scotus and the Republican party, for their aim at American girls and women.

I do vote.

Not an admirer of Christie by any means, but you are right,he is the only American in the GOP race. That in itself is sad.

Excellent analogies. I agree with all of it, and the reason I never took Haley seriously.

Her “non-slavery” response shows her lack of self-awareness and possibly the reason she always collapses faster than a cheap lounge chair when confronted with harsh truths, or reality for the matter.

She could have easily have given the usual half-truth statement that the Civil War was fought over state’s rights, and technically, she’d be correct; since each confederate state of America had slavery embedded in their respective constitution’s; state’s right for its citizens to own slaves would make it a matter of semantics.

Yet, Haley has always been about self-preservation and wanting it both ways: she, like most republicans in politics want Trump gone, yet can’t seem to cut the umbilical cord for fear of being labeled a RINO, and excommunicated from the shit show.

I guess this is the true definition of republican leadership: spineless sycophants who can’t get out of their own way....:)

For the time being, I'm proud of Chris Christie. Although I agree with him little on policy, he stands for the truth regarding Trump and dares to speak it. His biggest test will be when the primary is over. If he sticks to his principles and continues to speak the truth, he will go down in history as a profile in courage. Thank you for another history lesson. In the words of Gen. McAuliffe, I say to Trump and MAGA"NUTS". (When one of the German parliamentaries asked " Vas ist NUTS?, one of the American GIs escorting him exclaimed " It's the same thing as go to Hell".)

I agree, Nikki Haley is no profile in courage. Her selective memory of the Trump administration's accomplishments is pure fantasy. It resembles a Disney inspired theme park more so than it does reality. Her description of Trump's sincerity is not only laughable but culpable in its denial. She has no game in this election because she can not go on the offensive and risk offending the voters she is trying to win over by going after the crime boss himself. Nikki is a character of Cru'elle Deville who steals puppies from children while giving them lollipops. She has no faith in democracy because she has no faith in the American public to recognize the truth. She lies with her smiles and strikes like a snake in the grass. She is an Uncle Tom relative because she is part of the same hypocrisy. She recognizes the deceiver for who they are because it is her image she sees in the mirror. Her words ring hollow because they are backed by a false narrative. Nikki is Trump in pumps, no conviction and certainly no sincerity.

About 4 years ago I listened to many hours of podcasts about Epstein. Mostly by Zev Shalev, who interviewed former Epstein business partner Steve Hoffenburg and others who knew Epstein firsthand. My interest wasn't so much in Epstein the pedophile sex abuser, but rather in what was motivating him aside from his sick proclivities. I came away convinced that Epstein was not only a crook, but a spy for hire. He was the protege of Robert Maxwell, a publisher, Holocaust survivor, and spy who was the father of Ghislaine, who continued her father's espionage work. Epstein and Ghislaine were running an espionage operation dealing in kompromat. There were cameras in the rooms in his houses. I was never completely clear all the countries that Epstein and Ghislaine were spying for. It seemed clear it was Russia and Israel. Also, he likely worked some for English and American intelligence. Shalev did an interview with a former Mossad agent who said Epstein was introduced into Israeli intelligence work by his mentor Robert Maxwell. Epstein did great harm to young girls, but it was much bigger than just them. He was an amoral pedophile, crook and spy-for-hire to the highest bidder.

If only...Christie could somehow pull this off. What a wonderful day that would be! It seems America has no answer to all the lies and deceit that are being fed to them by the media. I really believe that is where the battle lies.

In so many respects, this colmn represents the pinnacle of your writing. Really, truly. But Asa Hutchinson is the only moral choice for Republicans, and Nikki Haley isn't Albert Speer in this story--Chris Christie is.

Nikki Haley. I find myself asking, "what does she really mean" every time she speaks. No sale Nikki.

I regard Chris Christie as the smartest and toughest candidate in the field for president. I don't fully trust him, but at least he's pro- democracy and he's playing a great role by "taking us all to Jersey", that is, speaking the terse, direct, bottom line truth about Trump.

Nikki Haley raised her hand at the first debate that she would support Donald Trump if he was the Republican nominee. End of story.

The Republican party is empty. People like you Steve, Liz Cheney, Kinzinger, Bill Kirstol, Charlie Sykes, Tim Miller, Matt Dowd, Nicole Wallace, Michael Steele, Joe Scarborough,... the list goes on, have either left the party, or no longer support it, because it stands for nothing other than white grievance, Christian nationalism, embracing authoritarianism and abandoning democracy as a means to its end. This doesn’t end in 2024. Chris Christie is playing his role in the moment. I hope he keeps it up. If Trump loses, the work is just beginning.

We're going to have to re-register as Republicans and vote in our state primaries. It would take tens of millions of independents and Democrats to pull that off. But if we're going to go to that much trouble we should just start a new party and nominate Liz Cheney. If Trump is legitimately elected president again, and the Constitution actually isn't overturned, we need a new party. I am done with the conventional wisdom that a third party cannot win. The Democrats are caving to the pro-Islamist left (WTF). The "Jews will not replace us" MAGAs are in love with Erdogan, who supports Hamas. The neocons are political orphans. It's fucking time.
