I've been waiting for the moment someone speaks to January 6 and the hypocrisy of Trump and MAGA. They refused to give any credit to the capital police for saving their lives. Refused to recognize those same police in Congress although they continue to protect them every day. Trump made fun of Pelosi and her husband after he was attacked in his home. Now he will use what occurred to show his 'strength', that the Lord protected him. I have to write this before I eat a meal, it's that nauseating.

And he still promises to pardon those Ja6 rioters.

Not only will he pardon them, but immediately thereafter he'll recruit them into his personal "MAGA army" ready to do his bidding at the drop of a hat. We are headed into a terrible time, folks.

Biden's Campaign withdrew their campaign ads against Trump since the assassination attempt. makes me wonder what was in the ads. Trump will continue to attack "Sleepy Joe Biden" and the Biden Campaign will now treat Trump with kid-gloves.

Did you see Biden against Lester Holt tonight? I think he did a good job. I think Biden is figuring out how to take it to the naysayers, the media, and hopefully he can bring that attitude to Trump in September.

When you call for violence in pursuit of your goals, appeal to the darkest emotions, prejudices, and fears of your followers, and support public figures who call for violence, do not be surprised when it turns on you and bites you in the ass.

I found the circumstances strange. A bullet creasing Trump's cheek would keep on going. Trump had many people surrounding him. At least by media reporting, no other person was wounded. How can that be. Not saying the whole thing was staged, not even the sudden dip down by Trump. Am saying a thorough investigation of that shooting should be conducted and openly reported.

Expand full comment
Barbara B's avatar

One person was killed by a head shot. A passerby tried to help him. j Passerby said he tried to hold the victim's head together, but the wound was too severe. Aren't we all sick of reading descriptions of the wounds an assault rifle delivers?

Two other people in critical condition.

Expand full comment
Lynda Franka's avatar

The more graphic the pictures and descriptions the better. I think watching the Vietnam War casualties being carried from the field and seeing severely injured young people while we ate dinner in front of the TV every night helped quicken the end of that war. People need to see how horrific the wounds are and the scars and disabilities these weapons perpetrate. Maybe then it will hit home that they don’t belong in mass distribution.

Trump has promoted political violence for nine years. At his rallies, he called for people to be beaten up and roughed up. He wanted BLM protestors to be shot. He incited Jan 6. He mocked Paul Pelosi who was almost killed in a hammer attack. Nancy Pelosi thanked God that Trump was okay. Biden, Harris, Schumer, Newsom, Shapiro, Warren and others wished Trump well. Do these pathetic weaklings not understand that Trump would throw them all in jail or worse? Unbelievable.

“The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. The disorders and miseries which result gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual; and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction, more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of public liberty.” - George Washington’s farewell letter

It is a fleeting moment of grazing bullet, but nevertheless a moment of reckoning for Donald Trump. He called for this kind of violence on January 6th and beyond. Thank God for him and for all of us, old Joe is here at this somber occasion to steady the ship with his experienced hands. When violence struck especially at your ear, hearing the whisper from the sincere gentleman is so illuminating. Only thing as an Asian American I will remember forever from both of these men are two moments, one when one called us China virus and another when he invited us to the White House after the nail salon/massage parlor massacre. I have no doubt that Trump would remember Joe Biden’s call last night.
