David Letterman would have Trump on his show in the old days, for laughs. Trump was earnest, and weird, and illogical, and never bright, and Letterman would just burst out laughing.
What Trump managed to do was gain power over his followers by getting them to accept obvious lies: He only loses when elections are rigged; he always wins if they are not rigged; there was no insurrection on 1/6 and the protesters were patriots trying to right a horrible wrong, the defeat of Trump by Biden. He went on from there to insist that Haitians eat American pets and to declare victory over Iran. Followers believing such in-your-face-lies adopted an identity that they cling to in the hope they might be right and out of fear of acknowledging the truth to themselves and others.
MAGA will collapse completely, but only when far more of its supporters come to realize that they have been duped and give up the pretense that Trump is a truth-teller. They will only come to that realization when they have suffered enough to give up their "precious" MAGA identity. Since that will not be done easily, I fear we are in for much more suffering before we can build back up on the waste Trump, MAGA, and Christian nationalists have made of our country.
Yep, One of my neighbors told me Trump offered Nancy Pelosi 100,000 National Guard on January 6th and she turned him down. Of course that makes no sense but that is what she believes. I said, "that's a lie" and she said,"NO it's not". One day I went up to another neighbor and I said, "Trump tore down the east wing of the White House." He looked pained for a second and then he said, "He stopped 7 wars"... I think you are right Anthony when the pain becomes to much for them maybe they will come around.

I keep wondering why if we have the book "Project 2025", and it outlines the plan to destroy America and build it for fascists why haven't we used the book to directly stop the project one step at a time. Huge $$ amounts are being spent by AIPAC to disparage El-Sayed’s position, wanting to paint him into the corner of antisemitism. The fascist AIPAC view doesn’t equate to morality but El-Sayed fears that the Zionist movement itself will provoke antisemitism. He believes Judaism is divorced from Zionism but unfortunately they are equated.
So El-Sayed, an Egyptian, is against our taxpayer $$ going to all foreign governments that rob from our own domestic solvable issues, eg schools, infrastructure such as roads, and protection of our communities. For him it becomes a moral issue. He questions the US government policy that supports genocide by a foreign government while it doesn’t support its own needs at home. And that’s for any foreign government, not just the current fascist apartheid Israeli government running Israel now.
Of course the Zionists of the Democratic establishment are threatened by such a radical shift in foreign policy that would result in lack of US military aid to Israel. Democratic political consultants like Simon Rosenberg of the substack Hopium Chronicles, a self professed Zionist, has for years steered AIPAC $$ to Israeli supporting candidates and El-Sayed threatens the viability of those efforts.
