Marco Rubio is my absolutely worthless and disgusting Florida senator. I believe he’s running scared, and angry that Val Demings has tied him. I think people here in Florida including me are tired of his do-nothing attitude. He did a video today and called climate change garbage. I don’t think he realizes the amount of people that he has alienated in the state of Florida. Val Demings is going to give him a run for the money and my money is on her!

Uhh, Jew here... or "Soros backed reader" if you will. Little Marco can bite me.

Rubio is just one of many (most) Republican legislators whose indifference to all historically victimized groups —like Jews (and Muslims) in America — is appalling. The GOP has become the custodian of stored up fear, resentment, and hatred. This is why— although I come from a mixed political family (dad a Republican, mom a Democrat)— I will not vote for any Republican in this particular historical moment. None. Nada. And Never — until and unless the GOP excises its fascist core.

Cal C. I most sincerely hope that Val Demings will put an end to his Senator role. I would expect that either description would do for him; however, since many folks in Florida are Jewish and I hope that every one of them are offended and will vote against him.

We have to call this what it is: A spiritual battle. It can’t be any other. The word Christian becomes synonymous with hatred and exclusion. The self-righteous make laws to keep the powerless in check and they call it holiness. The absurdity of the existence of Jewish laser beams demonstrates that only fools or the dark of heart would be able to buy it.

Friendly Jewish person here-- although I am putting down my Jewish Space Laser so that I can type this. Republicans have been using antisemitic dog-whistles for a while now, and The Former Guy weaponized some of those discourses. I mean, the warm welcome autocrat Viktor Orban got at CPAC should terrify everyone. Republicans are evidently fine about his type of bigotry, having heard it during The Former Guy's administration too (the "Soros" dog-whistle was in numerous Republican attack ads, as were images of candidates with Jewish names situated next to money bags, another antisemitic trope). Someone in the Republican party needs to call out the willingness to blame Soros for everything-- a while ago, Glenn Beck (remember him?) did an especially diabolical video in which he referred to Soros as a "puppet-master"-- again, an old image, that refers to myths of Jews trying to control the world; and here we still are, with these constant references to "Soros." The bigots know exactly what that means. Meanwhile, I just wish I could stop GOP politicians from promoting discourses that blame everything on "the Jews." Hate crimes are on the rise, and instead of embracing autocrats like Orban, Republicans need to finally stand up for ethics; they need to refuse to keep repeating antisemitic tropes. Talking to you, Marco. Stop it. Just stop it.

Val Demings should win her Dem primary on August 23-- and she will be much more popular than 'little Marco' in the Florida general election for Senator on November 8. When elected, Demings will be a real Senator we can count on to do the right thing.

See Jennifer Rubin's column in WaPo today. She sums up reality for both parties. Rubio is stuck with gaslighting, with no light.

Mr. Guttenberg says it all! I, too, would like Rubio to define "Soros-backed" OR "Jewish-backed" prosecutor -- since prosecutors work for the Govt, any one paying taxes in Florida is "backing the prosecutors." So I guess Rubio is saying he, Rubio, pays no taxes in Florida.... like his master.

He's so cute trying to act like Big Daddy.

My vote goes for B). The abuse that Mr. Soros suffers daily from these ignorant, arrogant, ungrateful CPAC-friendly individuals (Orban went to school with a grant from Soros University) is a disgrace.

Thank you Mr. Schmidt for your extraordinary articles, I can hardly wait for them to appear in my daily inbox! You are doing us, the civilized and democratic people still living on this planet, a very great service. If only the other side of humanity would hear and understand you.

Rubio's scared scared scared.

The morning email I got from the Val Demings campaign included a recent poll that now has her tied with the miniature scumbag, 90 days out. And now he gets hit with campaign ads about voting against capping the price of insulin for his voters with private health insurance, and his vote against letting Medicare negotiate drug prices in the state with the highest percentage of voters who get their medicines through Medicare. The ads write themselves.

I have to say though, that a transparent attack against Jews, given the Florida electorate, has to be the Single Dumbest Thing he has ever done in a lifetime of doing Dumb Things.

I think his goose is cooked, his boat is torpedoed, his ass is grass, or whatever way you want to allude to the fact he is

LOSING! LOSING!! LOSING!!!

Alas, there is really no way to actually ask this guy what he means, since he and the rest of them never engage the public in healthy discourse about ISSUES. There is no opportunity for questions after a staged tirade like this...I am interested in the reaction of the voters in Florida to these and other inflammatory comments. Will he and Val Demings have a debate, or is it just paid political advertising? MSNBC will condemn him; FOX "news" will support him.

I am tired of language that fails to express what people actually mean. Unless there are prosecutors who are specifically backed by George Soros, he should say what he means ... which allows listeners to call him out for his anti-semitism.

Trumpism and Fascism are one in the same. Toadies like Little Marco, have never been able to inspire us with speech or actions so he lies to his and the Donald's supporters in order to stay in power. They use the dog whistles because they know that is where Fascism flourishes, in our lower mortal selves. Our parents knew of this primordial deadly instinct and tried to wipe it out after WWII. It has reinfected the population with lies and untruths that has us at each other's throat. Please Vote. DEMOCRACY deserves your best not our worst.

I don't think Rubio will lose if we focus on 'culture issues', though blatant anti-semitism puts him squarely in the extremist category. Half the bills introduced by Rubio during his time in the Senate have been laser-focused on restricting abortion access. Extremism and abortion should be the keys to a possible (though unlikely) loss for Rubio.

I would not use Marco and honest in the same statement. A is the "wink/wink nudge/nudge" version and most of the insiders know the code words. However, they do not need to be brought onboard, they're already in place. B is what he should say if he wants to capture those who missed the coded language. If he wants to expand his base, go with B, but be ready to lose the substantial support in key populations.

Marco Rubio is a lazy, snivelling coward. He does not deserve to be re-elected as all he has done for (to) his constituents is to be a reliable vote for whatever the GQP comes up with to shaft Americans! He is also a liar, claiming that his parents came as refugees from Castro. In fact, his parents came to the U.S. in 1956, Castro did not rise to power until 1959, which shows Marco Rubio’s contempt for his constituents. One would think that if he wants to be re-elected he would know that the population of the state he purports to represent includes a large number of Soros backed voters.

It needs to be an ad in heavy rotation wherever the Jewish of Florida get their information.

Corner lil' Marco on camera ans ask if he has proof that any prosecutor is funded or controlled by Soros. His answer will very likely be some form of "no" and usable. Explain in the ad the use of Soros as code for Jew.

Rubio wants to be one of the bad boys… with a Bible Verse, for good measure. His analogies are so confused, he thinks Jonah was eaten by the burning bush- but no worries, they’re biblical, so he thinks they’re relevant. Any misguided slander, just goes in the “what has this fool said now” box. And he thinks he’s relevant too- which is of course the rub. He’s not. Knows nothing of his constituents, their needs, nor their lives. Insults them in speeches and tweets, and goes about his Merry way- too bad- but THATS @Marcorubio- it’s like he’s in a how to be pathetic contest, and winning.

The point is that the division in our country is based on racism. Whether it's Soros or Jewish or any other euphemism it's the same. Orban is a known anti-semite and racist. It's an opportunity for the Democrats to use media, ads, editorials, anything to get the message out with sound bites and clips to show those in the red states exactly what they are dealing with. What is horrifying is that Rubio and Cruz, from minority backgrounds, are so racist against not only their own but other groups. Perhaps it's time for a Czechoslovakian solution, a peaceful separation into two countries.

My understanding is that Rubio tweeted this comment after Senate Democrats shot down an amendment that Rubio offered that would require prosecutors to keep violent criminals incarcerated. He also came under fire after suggesting that dealing with George Soros-backed prosecutors should be the top priority in Congress. This happened on Sunday while the Senate (i.e. Democrats) were working furiously on getting the Inflation Reduction Act passed. Was Rubio trying to distract this process?

He then tweeted this comment including “Soros backed prosecutors”; which, I believe can be related to “Florida Governor Ron DeSantis suspension of State Attorney Andrew Warren for refusing to prosecute illegal abortions or child sex-change operations. Warren’s 2016 election campaign was bankrolled by liberal financier George Soros” …. who was targeted by Viktor Orban in his speech at CPAC also on Thursday and is also Jewish.

Do I have all this right? So my observation/question is the following: Rubio, a loyal MAGA republican, was parroting Orban’s comment to the US Senate while the debate raged on over this huge bill, biggest one since the Affordable Care Act. His tweet roped in what happened in Florida with the suspension of State Attorney Warren, which brings us to Florida law regarding abortions. The Supreme Court Roe v Wade decision moved the issue to each state to determine laws regarding abortions. So now chaos reigns throughout the land with regard to termination of pregnancies and women’s reproductive issues. Governor DeSantis threw in “sex change operations” in Warren’s suspension, but Florida doesn’t have a law on this, and yet his suspension cited this. Republican governors are all over the map with their actions and statements. In Arkansas our governor said that only doctors would be prosecuted and not patients. Everyone is making it up as they go along. Meanwhile, medical professionals will find ways to take care of their patients, trust me. (I have 50 years as a medical professional to look back on)

So, my answer would be (a) because Soros money, not his Jewish religion, backs these prosecutors, who wouldn’t stand a chance against the “out of control” and irrational republican governors and legislatures.

We should not give life to statements that distract from the real issues.

Marco Rubio. His anti-socialism-via-Castro conceals his Old Cuba alter regimes. Oh, yes, they too chanted "Cuba for Cubans" and had their own dark history against Jews, with recorded anti-Semitic cries. They, too, have their own version of denying entrance to fleeing Jews from Nazi Germany, when Jews were "allowed" to leave their homeland, paying abundantly for their routes to escape racial violence. The St. Louis arrived to Cuba with over 900 refugees, and was sent away. I have read that approximately two-thirds of its passengers died in Hitler's extermination camps. Marco Rubio does not honor America's pluralism. He will never be able to conceal his racial innuendos. And to the day, he still attacks America's democratic system. A Washington Post (updated today) article titled "Top Republicans echo Trump's evidence-free claims to discredit FBI search" (ehm, late yesterday at Mar-a-Lago): "Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), also echoing Trump’s rhetoric, said the raid was akin to political persecution seen in '3rd world Marxist dictatorships.'” America, for Marco Rubio, is just another Banana Republic. What else can one add to Marquito's vision of America, other than agreeing with Fred Guttenberg and reminding all that anti-democratic slurs and anti-Semitism must be repudiated? At the polls, especially.
