To say that I’m a slow adopter when it comes to technology would be an understatement. So when Substack Chat launched in late 2022, I didn’t jump at the chance to use it. Substack Chat is meant for those within a community — like that of The Warning — to have a private group chat amongst subscribers. Since I didn’t have the opportunity to write an essay for today, I thought, why not try this Substack feature?

How can you join our chat?

1. Substack Chat is available on the web and on the Substack app.

2. Once I start the thread at 8 pm EST, you can participate by tapping on the Chat icon on the Substack app or on the web. Substacks you subscribe to will appear showing the most recent threads.

3. Tap on a thread to start interacting with me and other participants. You can reply to any thread with text and/or an image, as well as react to other readers' replies.

4. You can also tap on another reader's message to react or to leave a reply.
