After watching octogenarian Bernie remind these two 50-something’s that the Senate is for talking, not brawling, it occurs to me that the world would be safer led by men who have reached the age of low-T, than by those whose male hormones are still circulating for that one last rodeo. A fortiori it’s past time in the US to give a woman the reins of power.

I cannot understand the information I received yesterday that you are now backing a new democrat because you think Joe Biden is too old.

The wisdom and patience this man has brought to the oval office shouldn't be judged by his age.

I know you are aware of the fact that throwing in a candidate, you're helping Trump get back into the White House. What's going on Steve?

Teri,

This statement is exactly my thoughts. Thank you!

I haven’t seen Telemarketers, but I know scamming when I hear it. I have some friends who graduated college in the 80’s, like myself. They joined boiler room wall street trading firms. They used to call their clients Smurf’s as they ripped them off repeatedly.

One can say capitalism certainly has its drawbacks. Eventually, most of these guys are caught and get exactly what they deserve.

Karma’s a bitch!...:)

Wow, Robert. It seems that when $$$ is the holy grail, qualities of integrity, honor, courage, kindness etc disappear never to be brought to mind.

My Democratic Senators from Maryland, Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen, also are commendable, along with Tim Kaine and Mark Warner from nearby Virginia.

One more reason to love Bernie Sanders. Every word of your summation of Senator Sanders is true.

I've received calls from "police unions" asking for money and before hanging up I thought, "since when do public/civil servants beg for money from citizens who pay taxes to support them?" Double dippers, indeed. I spotted those deplorable scammers, especially since they came off as authoritative and a tad belligerent.

As for the R. Sen. Mullins, his behavior is apparently SOP for any GOP congressman serving the orange blob these days. They suck up to the blob with all obsequiousness possible, while treating anyone outside their purview with bullying, threats, hatred and violence. Vermin? When will someone relieve us of this meddlesome has been?

When I wintered in Florida, every holiday season we’d get pressure calls from police unions asking for donations to whatever was popular that year. The calls didn’t just come from our local PD, but as far away as Sarasota, Tampa, Lakeland. We always answered their call and donated to their cause. Then we got wise and didn’t answer the phone unless it was from a neighbor, friends or family back home. Scammers indeed and crooked to the core.

My Senators, from Michigan, Debbie Stabenow and Gary Peters, are dignified and trustworthy people also.

It's gratifying to see that other people are noticing Steve's 180 degree about face.

I do however agree that we need to start electing younger politicians.

But now it's not the time to start that in my humble opinion.

Trump will not be able to handle a professional and decent debate with Joe Biden. He scared to death of him and I can just hear him now calling Biden "Obama"

I don't think this is the year to mess around with changing the playground. There is far too much at stake.

I suggest and highly recommend you reading " The Dean's report here on sub stake

He just last week wrote about Trump's mental illness.

He was just on the Thom Hartmann show a couple of days ago. He is an incredibly talented writer and so insightful. He lays everything out and plain English that anyone can understand who lives on Earth One!

Despair is not an option and we need to just let Steve go about his merry way. I must say that I was very impressed by him and his insights the last few years and I learned a great from him.

I bet alot of other people did too.

His work on The Lincoln Project was admirable..

We may disagree and not like his about face. I know I'm disappointed but he has every right to change his mind and endorse someone different. If you recall, he has never really been abiding fan because of his age. I think it's an issue we all struggle with but my gosh!

He's done a bang up job

mopping up the mess that the GOP and Trump left.

He may appear frail, his gait is awkward due to the inevitable arthritis we all face at some point in our life

FDR could barely stand or walk . because of polio but his mind was crystal clear and his heart was pure and strong.

And I feel the exact same way for Joe Biden.

He was never my initial #1 presidential candidate.

I am more of a Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren supporter. But he's done an admirable job as president of the United States. His mind is still clear and his heart is pure and loving. This is what we all want to have in a president.

So, I am not going to waste my time and energy complaining about him.

Just move on

I'm a big believer in ethics. I believe each person should sign an ethics statement upon being elected. If they can't uphold professional behavior, they are out. Our taxpayer funds should not support them. They don't get 100 chances- they are just gone, just like a real life job.

Great piece, Steve. Most states have laws requiring telemarketers to disclose the percentage of your donation that goes to the charity and the percentage that goes to the fundraising company. These police benevolent association calls are rampant. I always ask if the caller is a police officer. Most hang up then. If he (it’s always a male voice), I ask how much of the donation is going to the fundraising company. All but one caller has hung up at this point. One sad sack til me: “92% to the fundraiser, 8% to the charity. Shameful, but has you point out, behavior that is endemic in our society.

There are some great websites that rate charities and state the actual amount that is used for the cause vs. "administration," among other criteria. I have used https://www.charitynavigator.org previously and have found some small impactful charities in which to contribute.

I LOVE Bernie Sanders! His integrity, conviction, and wisdom are impressive and something I aspire to, even if my politics are a little different. He was definitely the adult in the room.

I'm surprised you have not mentioned the childish shenanigans of Kevin McCarthy...subtly hitting another congressman (during an interview), denying it, and then stating that if he did hit him "he would be on the ground." Gross, sad, and embarrassing. The manliness is getting out of control in politics.

No props for Biden meeting with China instead of engaging in campaign nonsense? He called out the nazi propaganda and racist/antisemitic language of the imbecile. Sadly, the public only hears the siren that he is too old instead of the agenda he is accomplishing daily.

I hope this isnt a new revelation to anyone. The police/sheriff benevolence scam has been around forever. There is a reason that our politicians on the right want to assure a permanent underclass of people of whatever skin color—they are useful for exploitation. Just as the Jews were useful in Europe for hundreds of years until their money was gone.

A healthy mind needs combat in a healthy way? "The Sapiens man needs Sports so he can relieve his natural, lethal agressions healthily" SAID Knute Rockne, coach for Notre Dame football, played by Pat O'Brien (badly) in one of America's sentimental crap movies ( in my view) but still revered as if teaching America " the revealed truth" about mankind.

I dont know.

But St. Francis hand no ball to throw, Madane Curie didn' t fight over possession of any ball, Gustav Flaubert never ached to catch a ball, and many more great Sapiens cared nothing about getting rid of their lethal, natural aggressions: by chasing a ball: they dealt with all those agressions without a ball.
