I think Robinson is a gift to Democrats Steve, I really don’t believe that a majority of North Carolinians will vote to put him into the governorship, and hence the gift 🎁 . That is not to say that his unfitness for public office should in any way not be broadcast widely. Every time I have seen clips of him speaking, I have wondered if he has ever looked into a mirror, did he not notice that he was a black man. It astounds me, what comes out of his mouth, if the Democrats wanted to create their ideal opponent, he’s the personification of that ideal. And he will be sucking up money that might be put to more nefarious uses, that’s a double win for all of us.

I envy your trip to Poland, I too would pay my respects at the camps where so many perished. I had good friends that worked on “Schindler’s List”, it was a deeply moving experience for all of them. We have to do everything in our power to prevent another Holocaust, that tragedy can never be repeated, ever! My father and his brothers, along with hundreds of thousand others, fought to end the scourge of the fascists, they all risked everything to accomplish their victory. We have to honor their sacrifice, that we have an aberration like the insipid clown, is an indication that many of us have lost sight of our obligation. Stay safe on your somber journey 🙏

Thanks for keeping the spotlight on Robinson.

In terms of Morrow, based on my research so far, I view her as a fundamentalist Christian who was encouraged through sermons at her church to get into politics. She was brainwashed and radicalized online into the Qanon cult. Her crazy sounding statements make sense to QAnon believers, of which many fundamentalist churches are full of. I'd be surprised if she hasn't listened to Mike Flynn. She's very talented politically and must be taken as a real threat. She must be exposed by her opponent No Green and the NC Democratic party as the extremist conspiracy theorist she is. Political malpractice if they don't do this.

As a native North Carolinian, both Mark Robinson and Michele Morrow are appalling embarrassments. Morrow has only homeschooled her own kids and knows NOTHING about public education. Her educational background is that of a nurse. As a former NC teacher, I find her presence in this race demeaning to NC teachers and public education in general.

I don't know how politically talented she is. She couldn't get elected to the Wake County School Board. She was not supported by Senate leader Republican Phil Berger, who is one of the most powerful politicians in NC. I think her election was a fluke, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't work to defeat her. Expertise does matter. After all, don't you want a highly qualified, experienced surgeon performing YOUR operation?

As for Mark Robinson, he is just vile. There are those voters who see him as a way to "stick it to the libs." He doesn't seem to realize that in a fascist, racist society, he would be a disposable "other."

I’m of the thinking that We The People, do not have to “deal” with the rise of fascism in this country !

We have lived , grown up, and expect that our democracy within this republic remains intact -

I’m sorry to say this but the 2A is kind of clear - to protect and defend against a tyrannical government -

What’s more tyrannical than a moronic group of people deciding for the rest of us , that fascism is the right path?

I’m not promoting violence - or suggesting that this needs to be a shoot out at the o-Kay corral -

But I’m prepared to make an armed stand against fascism ! I’m not going to just sit around bitching about it !

Diplomacy, isn’t working with these assholes

Here's where I am on nationalizing local races: on some issues (e.g., budget priorities) there is little reason to broadcast in depth local horseraces for national consumption, but on other issues, where the important aspect is the effort to consolidate the MAGA insanity throughout the fabric of American politics, it does make sense to highlight particularly noxious candidates if for no other reason than to reveal the character and moral bankruptcy of their motivating rationales. I suspect that nationalizing the MAGA candidate infested gubernatorial and senatorial races in 2022 and demonstrating the depth of the MAGA depravity helped the rational (Democratic) candidates prevail. Finally, the parking lot ambush in NC by the CNN reporter missed a good opportunity - she eventually pivoted to a more specific set of policy goals, but rather than acknowledge that statement and question both their substantive components and how those goals would be hindered by her rabidity generally, the interviewer continued tilting at his preferred windmill. No surprise that he got nowhere. He also muffed the easy comeback to her challenge of his residence - should have respobded that he was there to help the many NC voters who watch CNN learn about the candidate seeking thier support. The two errors compounded in this instance to render the entire interaction tedious and disappointing rather than informative. This is not a game - it is our future. Serious journalism - like here on The Warning - must take precedence over easy content generation and clickbait confrontations..

Outstanding interview. I am so impressed by Harry Sisson: the way he thinks, speaks, articulates. He is a very intelligent and discerning individual. What a pleasure to hear this and what a future he has as a leader!

When I was 16y/o, I read the Gulag Archipalego. That book was the end of innocence for me. I am now finishing "Bloodlands", by Timothy Snyder. It has been a long slow read and although I am a much older person, once again a depression has gripped my psyche. The letters and the documents presented by Snyder stand as a testament to what someone like Mark Robinson, Donald Trump and their suppoters would be capable of once given power to free themselves from history, the rule of law and from democracy. I have spoken to friends and colleagues about this and I am not sure that they really get it or understand. They don't much know or remember why we entered WWII and who Hitler, Stalin and Imperial Japan were. It is hard work to come to the understanding of the horrors of the past, but those who can not remember the past are doomed to repeat it.

Have to agree with Couric's disagreement about the significance, national vrs state, re the impacts of this woman's fascistic incitements. North Carolina is a state, not a separate country--the Civil War addressed that issue. The United States of America's boundaries include all states, and all actions relevant impact the nation, not some imagined rebirth of Confederate automony. We are way past due in not recognizing, for one, education's significance. In Florida, a county school board voted to keep dictionaries out of the school's libraries because they contain objectional words! We the nation sent federal troops to eliminate segregation in schools. How can we fail to recognize destruction of school's entire raison etre, and not respond? My vote goes to the person who would send federal troops in to ensure the preservation of one of America's most precious assets--meaningful universal education. This would ensure peace and progress, automatically stopping any regionally narcissistic assumptions that would and presently are spreading, state-by-state, the country's metasticizing moral cancer.

I am conflicted on the woman in NC. The ambush in the parking lot is not what I think is good journalism. It felt like tabloid BS.It seemed that she won that contest and came out ahead. As we work to defeat fascism and the crazies, we have to figure out a way to expose them, to reduce their significance at every level, without turning it into a circus.

Robinson. What a mess. He stands tall as a representative of the depravity flowing through this country. Will be looking forward to reading what you have to say about him.

When Mark Robinson ran for Lieutenant Governor, 2,800,656 Americans living in North Carolina voted for him. His views, including anti-semitism, Holocaust Denial, and hatred of gay people, were well known.

My uncle, who served in the United States 3rd Army in World War 2 that liberated Buchenwald, is turning over in his grave.

Thank you, Steve, for bringing up Mark Robinson. I have discussed him here with others and I am embarrassed to live in North Carolina with this man as Lieutenant Governor and possibly our new Governor next year. If anyone wants to see rock bottom for the American Character, this is it.

I get him mixed up with Byron Donalds. Byron Donalds who I saw smirking when the forgery he'd submitted to that House committee trying to impeach Joe Biden was revealed. AOC pointed out the Biden text message had been altered by him-- and then he'd submitted it. Donalds sat there smirking like a great big naughty boy! I suppose he hoped that Donald Trump would see him. I suppose Mark Robinson is ten times more destructive. But I just can't believe there are enough non-benevolent North Carolinians to elect him. I wonder what he's told them he'll do.

Harry Sisson asked for data about TikTok. There is some. Unfortunately, I don’t have a link to the study, but someone compared the nations of certain topics on TikTik to Instagram. For most political topics, TikTok mentions at 1/2 to 1/3 as common as Instagram. That’s not a big deal. It suggests that TikTok users are less politically focused than Instagram users. But when you compare issues that are central to Chinese state policy, you find that mentions of Tiananmen Square or Uyghurs ares are practically non-existent on TikTok, approximately 1% as common as on Instagram. The CCP has allowed TikTok use in the US to grow, while applying little pressure through the algorithm. China’s influence operators have learned to use a lighter touch. But don’t think for a moment that the TikTok algorithm is not being used to promote Chinese government interests.

It’s up to the voters whether or not Robinson should even be on the ballot.

I’ve been to the death camps in Poland and there is no more poignant reminder of the genocide. Someone needs to bring Robinson there to witness. No denying after that!

On the issue of whether a school superintendent's murderous destruction rhetoric is national news, I agree with Katie Couric. When anybody is close to control of a state education system who talks like that, at the same time like-minded loons are taking control of higher offices all over America, it's part of a national story. The major problem in the CNN encounter between the reporter and Michele Morrow is that once he caught up with her, he wasn't ready for her. It was like just catching her was the job. He wasn't prepared at all for how these people get control of the situation, and that is by their ability to pivot and dodge. He let her take over that moment and while she was rolling through her talking points about families and children and bureaucracies, all he could do was make a weak demand that she apologize for "hurtful" language. She is totally batshit, but she dominated CNN's gotcha moment.
