Help Texas help America by getting rid of the worst United States senator not named Josh Hawley
Colin Allred is a much better man than Ted Cruz.
He’s not a quitter or a liar, nor a suborner of insurrection, fascism and Donald Trump.
Colin Allred has guts and integrity. I was blown away when he shared with me (have a listen) the first thought he had from the bottom of a pile in an NFL game, when he knew that his career was over from the agonizing injury yet undiagnosed:
I guess I’m going to law school.
This should matter in a state like Texas where character has long been defined as an ethereal mix of loyalty, toughness, fairness, integrity, honesty, fierceness, goodness, courage, and decency best exemplified by the archetype of the American cowboy — of which Ted Cruz is the antithesis.
Here’s a question. Imagine a John Wayne movie, but pretend the Duke was still filming now. Would Ted Cruz be riding in the posse, or hiding out with the villains? There’s no doubt Colin Allred would be riding shotgun with the good guys. There is no doubt around what happens when danger comes for America when Colin Allred is on duty.
Colin Allred, along with Ruben Gallegos, whom I also interviewed last year (also have a listen), were prepared to defend the US House of Representative Chamber from a violent mob, while cowards like Ted Cruz ran for his life and Josh Hawley hid in a closet. The men who instigated the travesty were the first to run. Ted Cruz is a pathetic representative for a state that produced Barbara Jordan, Anne Richards, Audie Murphy, James Earl Rudder, and a thousand other icons, artists, heroes, explorers, adventurers and patriots.
The name “Texas” has long been famous around the world. How astounding it must be for so many that this man is a United States senator representing that great state in what was once known as the greatest deliberative body in the world. It would be good for the country if there were to be a restoration of the dignity and functioning of the US Senate, along with its reputation. That won’t be possible so long as McConnell and Schumer remain on the bridge.
Chuck Schumer and his political team must fund Colin Allred, and not hang him out to dry like was done to Tim Ryan in Ohio.
Colin Allred is running a better race than Beto O’Rourke, and is winning the campaign against a man who wouldn’t defend his wife or father, but is the first to beat his belly for Trump no matter what. Texas doesn’t have a senator in Ted Cruz. It has a decrepit sycophant who runs when he should fight, and applauds what he should abhor.
The choice is between an honest man and a dishonest one.
The choice is between a hard man and a soft one.
The choice is between a tough man and a weak one.
The choice is between a faithful man and a faithless one.
The choice is between a patriotic man and a pretender.
The choice is between a Texas man and a DC man who will strip away the rights of every Texas woman to be free and decide for themselves in the Texas way.
Here is what John Kennedy said when he came to Rice University to chart America’s path forward into the future:
We meet at a college noted for knowledge, in a city noted for progress, in a State noted for strength, and we stand in need of all three, for we meet in an hour of change and challenge, in a decade of hope and fear, in an age of both knowledge and ignorance. The greater our knowledge increases, the greater our ignorance unfolds.
Ted Cruz should be retired from public life so his particular odiousness may be more quickly understood, explained and appreciated through the lens of a finished era. What will be recalled and reviled is the decade and a half during which American eyes looked down instead of up, and the worst rose to the top of our politics. Among them was the junior senator from the state of Texas.
Cruz is disdained by his colleagues, and utterly contemptuous of his constituents. George W. Bush had it right when he said:
I just don’t like the guy.
The opportunity to fire Ted Cruz is at hand. What a glorious occasion it would be to see the Princeton striver go down to a man like Colin Allred.
You can help, and you should.
Here’s what you can do: donate, volunteer, recruit.
Do it. Help Texas help America by getting rid of the worst United States senator not named Josh Hawley, who is also running this cycle. They are equally terrible.
Let’s see.
On one side we have decent Americans who project normalcy and competence.
On the other side we have Nazi’s, Puppy Killers, and Lickspittles like Ted Cruz.
It’s a very close election.
JFK's words were prophetic, another reason to teach civics and history starting in 1st grade and every year through 12th. Education is key.
