Kamala not only manhandled Baier, but simultaneously disposed of the Fox support team that was shouting in his ear piece and gesturing on the sidelines.

She was like a football player running for a TD and neither the defensive linemen nor the players on the bench were able to run on the field to stop her.

Her "weave an bobs" were magical, as opposed to Trump's benign word salads that make no sense.

As soon as I heard Baier's first question, I knew he was going to look like a fool and stooge for Trump during the entire interview. Do you want to take this opportunity to apologize to families who lost children murdered by illegal immigrants? That question is no different than the old joke about a prosecuting attorney asking the defendant if he had stopped beating his wife. Kamala Harris handled Baier like the asshole he sounded like. While not taking blame for the deaths, she expressed sympathy for the families and turned on him by pointing out Trump's disgusting maneuver, ordering Johnson to kill a bipartisan bill favored by border guards, in order to keep the border issue alive because it would work to his political advantage.

And yes, his face looked like he had gone overboard on botox.

Or the great late Leo Rosten in the "Joys of Yiddish" about chutzpah: a man who's murdered his parents asking for mercy from the court because he's an orphan.

Love the title. Loved the piece. Right up,to the point where you again invoked Reagan. You admitted that you were a 15 year old. I was an adult at that time, desperately trying to save talented, kind, caring human beings who were being cut down in the prime of their lives because the asshole actor hated gay men and would not lift a finger. He was NOT a president for all the people. Harris will be. Reagan was an actor and had a good script writer. But his actions did not fit with the words of that script. Just like trump, his words were intended to seduce his audience. Maybe you need to revisit your 15-year old’s baked in admiration of Ronald Reagan through the eyes of an adult. He was NOT good for our country.

It's very hard for me to defend Reagan, as I disagreed with almost everything he did. But Reagan, in my view, was neither evil nor stupid, and the phrase "just like Trump" doesn't really work. Though his economic policies (yes, he actually had policies) were completely misguided (again, in my view), he did see the world as bigger than himself. We just cannot allow ourselves to lump the recent-past conservative presidents (Reagan, Bush, Bush) in with the most recent one. (Yet again in my view), this is dangerous, as it implicitly denies the intrinsic value of our two-party system.

Meanwhile, Harris did well in the lion's den, and turned one of them into a frightened squirrel.

My “just like trump” referred to Reagan’s words that painted a picture of what people wanted to hear. And it worked. People voted for him. People thought he was helping them. He was not.

I agree, I don’t think Reagan was evil. He may not have been stupid, but he suffered from dementia. The subtle clinical signs were there early on and by the last 2 years everyone who chose to could see it.

Perhaps “naive” is a better description of Reagan…

She took him to the mat. SHe helped ensure he showed himself to be an inept interviewer. He looked like he’d decided to just talk over everything she said. She was ready and undeterred. Any Fox viewers would have heard her messages and her strength. I wasn’t sure she should be on Fox. I was wrong. It was brilliant.

Fox set an ambush for Harris hoping to sink her ship deploying the the submarine Baier.

Baier is seemingly neutral at Fox but it’s simply a smoke screen so people give him some credibility. He has earned no credibility just because he tries to be stealth.

His torpedos yesterday missed, just as his failure to call Arizona for Biden.

Fox is a den of liars and propaganda, period. Only the flavor of it changes with the host.

If anything the FCC should fine them for false advertising as a “News” station and strip them of that word in their title.

It is a shame that this country has allowed the cancer that Rupert Murdock has spread on at least 3 continents ( Australia, Europe and North America)having allowed his media companies to infect this country for so long.

Call them for what they are… opinions not facts, propaganda not news, liars not truth tellers.

Facts!!!! Fox has done the work of the KGB after it ceased operations in the early 90s. That network has poisoned so many Americans over last 25 years. It is shocking to see Americans continue to not understand that Putin will continue to do anything to undermine our country. Fox deserves all the credit.

It’s Ruppert Murdock. Fox has been a disinformation center on 3 continents from the beginning

Agreed Eric. That said, any time Fox has been taken to court, their defense is and has been for decades that they are "entertainment, not news." Their words, not mine.

That should have been mentioned in the Harris interview on Fox…I understand what you’re saying Brett, but aren’t you strictly entertainment and not news or newsworthy

Is she not the sitting Vice President of the United States? Has she not earned the respect afforded to the office? Whatever happened to civility? I get that Trump is an uncouth liar, but the media — even FoxNews — has a responsibility to honor or, at least, respect the second highest official in the land. When we look back at the country’s slide toward fascism, let’s not overlook the loss of basic manners.

It’s simple, she is a woman; a black woman no less. Magas don’t respect women and certainly not women of color.

Expand full comment

Harris’s main problems for MAGAs:

1) Gender

2) Race

Regardless of what she does or says, White males cannot accept anything she says or does. So sad and pathetic to see them so threatened and insecure. Kamala is confident, capable, and extremely skilled operator but will never be given credit by any of these weak, insecure males., including Trump. It is what it is. VOTE for the Harris/Walz ticket! They will not let us down!l. We must face the facts and have their backs in this seriously important election! Our democracy depends on their victory!

GO GIRL!

I'm a white male and voting for her enthusiastically and talking to as many people as I can to get them to go to the polling place and vote straight blue.

And let's not forget the maga women who adore the orange felon. It stuns me that I know some of them.

Bravo, Anthony! You are not in that MAGA group of White men! Hope they are cut off at the knees with the Election? Our wonderful country does not need them! May the voting be record breaking for the talented candidate, VOTE Kamala.

They certainly appear to be racist and hate women.

JA, please add to your list: 3) Political Leaning

The depth at which magats hate Democrats (Liberals) seems to be bottomless. (Could it be that they feel shamed by Democrats? Perhaps, deep down, they know that most Democrats are good, kind, compassionate, & empathetic people [not to mention courageous], and they are not?)

Exactly. Not an ounce of respect for women and women of color - and those who were born of immigrants. She was stunning. I have goosebumps again recalling how she handled what so many of us have handled in meetings where we are assumed to know nothing, believing unable to defend ourselves, and the "stop sign hand" was a bridge way too far.

I couldn't have been prouder of Kamala Harris then if she was my own daughter. She was tough, she didn't back down, and she showed how Fox "News" manipulates the facts for their audience. By doing so they do a disservice to those who rely on them for the facts. It is the media who will bring our country down.

Bret Bauer used to be a journalist. He showed last night he doesn't deserve to be called that anymore. He has joined the MAGA movement with his distortions and lies, and is culpable for whatever Trump and his allies come up with - before and after the election.

The response to Kamalas' Fox appearance from the MAGA dupes on X was highly predictable. They called her "angry", "nasty", "loud", etc. Just what one would have expected from a bunch of weak, cowardly "men" who are facing the prospect of a woman being the boss of them.

Expand full comment

One thing we can do is stop calling them Fox “News.” They need to be referred to as Fox Propaganda everywhere and every time.

I have referred to them as Fox Propaganda in print and speech for at least 15 years, maybe longer. Since its inception they’ve been nothing more than the propaganda arm of the Republican Party. And every single Republican politician and pundit made their rounds there on the regular.

That’s why all republicans have to take responsibility for where we are as a nation today. Trump didn’t start this slide into an alternate reality for Fox Prop’s viewers. They’ve been feeding them a non-stop diet of lies and violent, hateful rhetoric, for more than 30 years.

Since the fall of the Fairness Doctrine, the rot of Roger Ailes and Rupert Murdoch oozed into far too many American homes and ate away at any sense of trust in fellow man - unless he is white, and trust of any other news source - except for right wing AM talk radio, which spews the same hateful, violent, racist, bigoted, misogynistic asinine nonsense they air on Fox Propaganda.

So what can be done? We certainly cannot outlaw Fox (First Amendment) and we can’t force people to stop watching it 24/7.

Kamala the Lioness took it to Baier. Brava! I'm so sick of Republicans pissing on my leg and telling me it's raining. As frustrating as it is to engage with people who have no respect for facts, or who outright lie, it's important that Kamala keep stating the facts, correcting their lies, and putting forth her vision.

Yesterday I cast my vote for her, and for all Blue candidates down ballot. I'm proud I did. Let's send the fascists packing!

She went into the lions den, fearless and vanquished the lions. The traitor refuses to debate, and wouldn’t dare go on MSNBC. She answers the questions, despite being repeatedly interrupted. She stays on message. There are no journalists at Fox, just talking heads. Steve, you left out Maria Bartaromo. What happened to her? She used to be on NBC on Sundays talking about Wall Street. She was creditable. Now she’s a joke as far as I’m concerned. She has sold her soul.

Ouf, finally we all seem to be on the same page re Kamala’s performance last night. The clip you showed really demonstrated to all that she’s a force to be reckoned with, that she’s not afraid of the MAGA cult, but best of all she put Fox on notice that she isn’t taking any of their “bull sh*t”. Please pardon my French for my use of that ugly term that perfectly describes FoxNews. 😉
