Steve, I would love to see you broadcast your message beyond the Warning community, to share your insight that Trump is "not the inevitable Republican nominee". It's needed to counter the constant mainstream media declarations that he is, to shine some light on alternatives and how to achieve a different outcome. Maybe that means publishing op-eds in local papers such as

The New Hampshire Union Leader, right-leaning publications such as the Wall Street Journal and other popular more global newspapers such as The Guardian. Please consider letting your voice be heard more broadly.

One main objective Steve Schmidt may be after is to take it TO MAGA through his powerful 'The Warning' youtube videos. He already has 174,000 subscribers and his viewership is rapidly increasing. I agree about the newspapers and many of us hope to see him on tv again.

If not all, some appears to be available through other channels. From this one, I hope the “punditry” does not make the debate about the absence v the content. I fear it will be the focus.

Steve has a podcast on YouTube.

Yes, but that requires someone to actively search and find the podcast. I am suggesting that Steve's articulated/written wisdom be discovered more naturally/passively.

Cleverly and insidiously placing Ted Cruz and Shohei Ohtani together in one sentence was not on my literary bingo card. Ever Steve. Nice one. And then there's this gem, "Donald Trump is like a giant Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade balloon. He is deflating, leaking and decaying." Nice bowl of Word Wheaties you consumed this morning Steve. Thank you from Miami.

I loved that line as well. Gives me an image that also makes me smile. .

This should go VIRAL on social media: "Donald Trump is like a giant Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade balloon. He is deflating, leaking and decaying." I'm not on social media, but even just that one line can get into the social media algorithms. Millions of people need to see this visual Steve has painted. There is nothing like a good 'Schmidt Storm' to clear the air!

Ouch. Much salt, many wounds. All deserved. Setting aside DJTs belief he should be treated as Regan in ‘84, I wonder if his fear is coherency, not competition. His answers appear to be more unmoored from reality. It would just take Christie asking “what did you say” to get the “emperor has no clothes moment “. Thank you for a great summary.

You’ve really outdone yourself with this one. Brilliant, simply brilliant. 🔥🔥🔥

Absolutely, and can you imagine the debate being followed by an SNL skit…..too bad it’s not quite time for the new season…..I for one know I am going to need a ton of humor to get me through the next few years.

I hope Christie shreds Trump, and the Trump wannabes on the stage with him, to nothing but threads. He could be like the little boy in "The Emperor's New Clothes" who embarrasses everyone by speaking the truth. That is so needed.

It is likely that Christi will read this edition of 'The Warning'. Steve is a well-known master of campaign strategy. A boxer needs a good coach in his corner.

Expand full comment

While I, like many others here, look forward to Christi's slice and dice of TFG, I will never forget his Governor stint in NJ. As our gov, he proved himself to be arrogant and entitled, somewhat nasty mean. I'll watch and be entertained by him, but would no sooner vote for him than I would Trump. He's just way smarter and more clever than Trump, but the same self-serving, imperialistic tyrant.

Ouch! The truth hurts. Keep it coming Steve.

"Should I watch the debate? I'm not voting for any of them. Nah, it's too early." That is likely what many Republicans will be saying on debate night. You know, I'd have a lot more respect (and the bar isn't high) for Chris, if he destroys them all, wins a few primaries, and then drops out while in the lead...leaving the Republican party with no viable contenders...putting a stake in the heart of that party would be a wonderful legacy for him.

Will the MAGA-CULT followers even watch a debate (or vote) if their 'dear leader' isn't there?

No they will not watch. They come for the blood bath - I'm not sure if they actually care whose blood is used....his followers would all probably test positive for attention deficit and problems with authority figures (ADAF) syndrome.

LOL, I had a quick thought of another ADAF syndrome. As Dumb As ****.

Colin Allred and Abigail Spanberger. I will be sure to remember those names.

Steve, I am noticing that my favorite articles of yours show me that there actually ARE incredible, inspiring, dedicated, honorable, intelligent, morally upstanding Americans serving our country. We see and hear so much about the opposite - the racist and greedy individuals (whose names are not worth repeating) trying to destroy democracy. They need to be called out and made accountable, but what about the others in our country that are doing such good and are lost in “the noise”? We don’t hear enough about Biden’s great accomplishments. I think this adds to the apathy people feel, as you say.

Providing hope, that all is not lost, and courses of action we can take are very helpful. Thank you for the article.

Colin is the hope of Texas and Abigail the same for Virginia. I am beginning to see the power of volunteer efforts. Find your candidate and endorse them wholeheartedly. Do what you can to support them. Voter registrations and post cards to non-voting registered Dems is a great way to contribute. Get involved!— it’s the only way our democracy will be saved.

Steve, this is yet another home run. (Perfect season for that, eh!) What disturbs me more than Donald Trump are the millions who persist in following him. They are suctioning the good oxygen out of the societal landscape. They also reveal how large is the population of our nation's dregs. Not to put them down, but they really are an angry mob of malcontents, many of whom would (or, will) resort to violence. There is an ugliness, a vicious venom that has gone public, so to speak. Frankly, the dividing line between "good and evil" is pretty-well marked. The good are fighting the bad and the ugly. On the world stage, our country has lost a lot of her luster. Trump is a walking, talking nefarious insult before the world. Sadly, it is that very dark, soulless, and nasty demeanor that inspires and invigorates a subset of our population. Our nation's social scientists are worried. Many among us, myself included, are worried. The very presence of a Ron DeSantis whose vile oral excrement reverts us to a stone age barbarism should be sounding alarms about just how pernicious part of our country has become. Trump and DeSantis have become the poster boys for America's Republican Party. Within that Party there is little to no pushback (note Kevin McCarthy still lauding his Daddy Donald). The thread and fabric of this country is being pulled and torn. And, then . . . there are the Democrats.

Like Trump, Putin is not seen much lately. But like Trump he is also not going quietly into the dark. Lifeline thrown by China, India and South Africa will continue the bloody tragedy. https://youtu.be/sjInnRL-HUg as former CEO of Google Eric Schmidt said, Putin is getting plenty of help from his backers in this high tech war in the sky. Zelensky’s Allies led by President Biden will have to push even harder to give Ukraine the edge in this high tech drones and planes warfare. Crimea is not only symbolic, it is the rope to contain the most toxic dictator

Expand full comment

Now you've got me worried about the possibility of Christie going after Biden.

Don't want to just trade bullies!

Expand full comment

Christie is a long time bully who went after numerous people, including teachers while gov of NJ, and was at the center of the Bridgegate scandal yet miraculously escaped unscathed. It’s great seeing him calling out Trump for what he is, but at heart, he is still the bully he always was. You can be sure he will turn on the Biden the minute he can; he’s already lumped him in with Trump as bad for the country. (as if.)

I also think that we are underestimating the base. They may only be 30-35% but they are staunch Maga and they always vote. Trump isn’t finished yet. And if/when he finally is then what? The rot is deep in the GOP. Murdoch reportedly wants Youngkin--the wolf in the fleece vest who ran on BS cultural issues like CRT. The GOP are unserious people and electing any of these candidates would be damaging to the country and none would move us forward. It will be more faux investigations and tax cuts for the wealthy and attacks on Medicare, SS, the ACA, and Civil Rights approved by a GOP WH.

While we can praise the likes of Christie for using his bully skills on a worthy target, never forget exactly who is (and the rest of the GOP field) is.

Christie scares me as much or more than Trump. He is far smarter and he would need the crazies to get elected, thus, totally beholden to them.

You are so right! We can't afford any of the MAGA Republicans to win the White House! They're all funded and controlled by the extremely rich religious right, and will do exactly as you outlined!
