I was waiting for this moment. Strategy. The Democratic Party in power needs a Strategy. Because the other side is already on its way towards accomplishing its. In plain sight and already with brutal consequences. Who backs them is the Big Question. Are they the same as the ones who backed the rapist or are we facing a nationless group? Godspeed.

Hi Steve, I believe I've been told that transcripts are available for your talks. I read much faster than I hear :-) , and since I read 10 different newsletters + follow 2 political groups on FB (+ read the WaPo and NYT daily) -- I've got a lot to keep up with! Please let me know (remind me) if there are transcripts, and how I can find them. Thanks! Kathy

Thanks so much, Steve! Of all of the groups I'm part of, yours is my favorite. I love your insights; the way you react to things emotionally (not "just the facts, Ma'am"); the topics you select; your marvelous sense of humor -- and outrage; and your brilliant writing. I don't want to miss a word!

So remember when the buzz-phrase of the day among the rethugs was "cancel culture?" Funny, we aren't hearing that any more, right? You'd think they'd be yelling that phrase after the "canceling" of Tucker. Well, good riddance. He was a pox on society, but unfortunately, he probably isn't going away. He'll rear his ugly head somewhere down the line, once the dust settles.

The end of Tucker Carlson's reign of mendacity reminds me of the ends of Charlie Rose, Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, and Glenn Beck. Just when you thought you couldn't take their nonsense anymore, somehow their end happened, and there was great celebration, at least in some sectors. There is always an end to things. Just hoping democracy and liberty aren't one of those things.

Mary,

Democracy can and will be overthrown or changed until we do not recognize it anymore unless we who care work to save it.

Only by winning super majorities in both houses and the Presidency can things be stabilized and therefore saved.

Women and young people who are not so jaded and yes negative about our future will be the keys in the next several elections. We must concentrate on performance at the ballot box then performance upon achieving goals clearly set out beforehand. I sometimes have my doubts about the future but I am not that important anymore at 74. I know who will carry the torch and it is coming fast.

Thank God!

Al, yes, educated white women were who put Trump in office in the first place. Black women of all persuasions were on the right track with democrats the past two presidential elections. They were actually the ones that turned the tide in Biden's favor in South Carolina, and for the two senate wins in GA. Hopefully white, educated women learned their lesson with the Trump presidency, and that they will never EVER! do THAT! again. I shake my head every time I think about that. And white women wonder why all their rights are being taken away. They proved their stupidity when they voted for a grifter, rapist, misogynist, and teen beauty contest pedophile for President of the United States. And educated white women like Susan Collins who put her name behind those Supreme Court Nominees because she wasn't astute enough to their lying ways. What a foolish woman. I guess when you're in a business that plays loose with the truth for a living, it's hard to see a real important lie, even when is smacks you upside the face.

Steve’s correct- the attack on our democracy by those who wish to impose a minority rule authoritarian regime is real and underway in full force. It is aided and abetted by Fox and Fox wannabes. Any discussion about the impact of Fox and its lineup of liars must take into account, in my opinion, the decisions and forces that have been unleashed against American news media as well as the lack of understanding Americans have about what is news and what isn’t news. First, the repeal of the Fairness Doctrine in the Reagan era opened the door for right wing radio and cable news. People like Murdoch seized on that decision and has made a fortune. But, what Americans have for the most part missed is with the Fairness Doctrine gone, what’s being presented by Fox and others isn’t news. It is opinion- editorial wrapped in extreme political ideology. This has resulted in Fox and other news outlets becoming a de facto “state tv” for a political party. We Americans must rediscover what true news reporting and the journalism that creates it really looks like. Until then, the den of op-ed liars at Fox and other cable news outlets will continue to prosper while working in concert with authoritarians to destroy and replace American democracy.
