Ron DeSantis is a strange cat whose luck has run out. Running for president is hard in the best of times — and these aren’t those.
DeSantis had a straight shot to the nomination after his landslide re-election in 2022. He squandered it completely, and obliterated his chance. All that is left now is the schadenfreude.
How bad is it for Tallahassee Mussolini? His own super PAC, named Never Back Down, backed down. Steve Cortes, a MAGA nitwit who abandoned the Trump ship for the Ron deTitanic said this:
Right now, in national polling, we are way behind. I’ll be the first to admit that. I believe in being really blunt and really honest. It’s an uphill battle.
LOL. Never Back Down. Indeed.
Watch this wounding question from a Fox anchor who switches from sycophant to prosecutor in an instant. It stuns DeSantis. Look at his face and consider the petulance of his answer. Chris Christie is precisely right about him. He is a terrible politician. Truly.
Also, has anyone else noticed how rarely DeSantis wears normal clothes?
Everything has his name stamped on it. What is that? It’s bizarre and I don’t like it.
Previously, I’ve pointed out this weirdness:
And the pudding fingers habit is beyond the pale:
Yuck.
The DeSantis campaign has reached a crisis stage. The implosion has begun. Financially, the operation won’t run out of money imminently, but it eventually will topple over when the cash flow dries up. The DeSantis operation will mismanage cash like it has mismanaged time and the calendar. The more urgent matter is the loser narrative and collapsing campaign narrative that has put Team Ron into a death spin from which there is no escape. What exactly is their rationale?
Here is a quote from Bryan Griffin, a DeSantis aide, explaining that the tide will turn when the MAGA voters discover that Trump didn’t do any of the things he promised when he was in the White House:
Ron DeSantis has been underestimated in every race he has won, and this time will be no different. Donald Trump has to explain to Republican voters why he didn’t do the things he is now promising in his first term as president. Governor Ron DeSantis over-delivered on his promises as governor and has the national vision we need to restore our country, clean out DC, and lead our Great American Comeback.
It’s hard to imagine how outraged they will be when they find out.
In the meantime, let’s check in with the MAGA King at Dairy Queen:
It goes without saying, but I suspect that the good people didn’t get a Trump paid-for Blizzard after all…
Instead they got this madness about “communists and markers” coming into our “cunny”:
And this…speaking in Iowa, Trump told a crowd that “maybe one day you’ll have the ocean”:
There are 190 days until the first votes are cast. There will be chaos ahead, but one thing is certain. Dropped rocks don’t bounce. Ron DeSantis is done.
Ron DeSantis has worked so hard to capture the MAGA vote that he has totally lost all the non-MAGA folks. As Steve sort of says, he's a rock and rocks don't rise on their own. I think the people in Florida have heat stroke to vote that guy into office. If you want to see the nation slide into the Atlantic, vote for this fool. Or you can vote for the other guy if you want to see your country destroyed that way. He's a traitor, but Hey you still like him. Listen to some interviews with Trump supporters. They don't even know what he has done to make the country better (nothing). Really watch any of them being asked a question. It's frighteningly amazing that we even have to let these people vote. OK, they are disconnected lonely people who found a group they can call friends, I get that. They need to find another group. One that will improve their lives, maybe start with a book reading group.
We have been watching the 2nd oldest political party descend into fascism & the MSM has nothing to say about it. Where are all the diner conversations about GOP extremism & their abandonment of democratic principles? Why are the GOP primary voters so hungry for cruelty over competence? I can’t be the only one interested in the answers to these questions, so why has they been left unexamined for so long by the 4th estate?
