Fantastic. Please get it into every Democrat congress person’s inbox. And then send it again. This is the way to proceed. Many thanks to finding the words that would be a great speech to hear and not to see on your Substack.

I agree completely. Word needs to be spread! I feel a modicum of hope after reading that piece. But little optimism that the battle cry will be followed.

Me too

Steve Schmidt for Democratic leadership! Replace Schumer with Schiff or Murphy , or Blumenthal, or some else with guts and a mouth they know how to use.

As you said: “Now is the time to fight back”. I’m glad someone has a strategy. I hope the right people hear it, and follow through!

Chris Murphy is the only choice for Senate minority leader. And please could the rest of them start to fight for democracy!

Expand full comment

Damn, I wish they all read Substack. Do they have one clue how I (a concerned citizen willing to fight) feel?

This is what Steve has put out as a very firm bargain that the Dems can put forth. Robbie, Lee, Lois and James get it. Instead of doing our part which is to notify our Democratic Senators and Reps over and over again to stand strong and fight for us we have people throwing chaos into the pot thus allowing the Fetterman’s and other know it alls to fuck it up. If the Dems don’t do what their constituents have been demanding (Can’t you hear them?)it may just kill any hope we might have.

No donations. No votes for Dems if they screw this up. Make calls, write emails every day. Send a damn emu to capital hill with a note around his neck. Speak up over and over again. (Download the app 5 calls. It does the work for you) If this passes we will be doomed especially because we have fought for months and now will ask what good did it do. No donations! No votes!

Don’t we need to be doing everything possible to flood social media with comments about President MUSK? One method of protest in particular is to get under Trump’s skin as much as possible in efforts to sabotage him. As a psychologist it’s very easy to predict the demise of Musk’s role in the WH just as soon as Trump becomes overwhelmed by people’s claims that they are obeying, following and answering to President Musk. Trump is weak and stupid, can’t control his reactions and impulses and when he starts to feel pinched by Musk is when he will undermine Musk publicly and ultimately move him out. All of the people advising us should give us multiple scripts to put on social media questioning who is president and saying that Musk has all the power with trump as his flunky. I promise, the orange fuhrer won’t abide it.

Expand full comment

What do you make of Trump’s response to a reporter who asked if he had any comments about the Time Mag. Cover showing Musk seated behind the Resolute desk? Trump said, “Nooo”.

Expand full comment

He’s predictably deluded believing he’s the one giving Musk orders right now and we have to show him that he’s not. He may also be pocketing millions in payments from Musk and we’ll never know, so we taunt him with President Musk. I don’t know how long he can take it before his ego explodes.

Expand full comment

He's afraid of Musk. He knows Musk owns him. Whoever has the money has the power. He's the wealthiest man in the universe and Donald only has a few billion. You know how that kills him. Who knows what Elon has on Mango? I don't know how long I can take before his ego explodes! Or something else. I hope it's soon.

Expand full comment

I disagree with both Robin & Sarah. I don’t think T is either deluded by or afraid of Musk. I think unfounded assertions by commenters here are counterproductive. I learned the hard way to never underestimate your adversary. I want us to fight back, encourage our elected leaders to fight back and elect new ones who will fight smart. Right now Trump controls the federal police (FBI et al) and the military. We have law on our side but not the means of enforcement. Hope won’t win, we must fight smart.

We must realize “you don’t negotiate with terrorists!”

The “Trump/Musk” horror show against our federal government is UNCONSTITUTIONAL! The ONLY way to stop it is to STOP thinking you can talk with them! They’re only interested in DESTROYING OUR GOVERNMENT!

I am not a lawyer, and cannot interpret much of the ethics/rules within this: usmarshals.gov

My question is: Why can't the U.S. Marshalls stop musk and his coup criminals?

Expand full comment

The Marshall Service works under the Justice Department. Not likely that our new Attorney General will allow them to do their job.

Expand full comment

If the blonde bimbo at DOJ will interfere with U.S. Marshalls arresting musk and his coup criminals for contempt then we need to find our legal, non-violent revolution, very soon.

Expand full comment

I listened to George Conway a couple of days ago and he believes there's a good chance that the administration will eventually just ignore court rulings since the Marshall Service is the enforcement arm for the courts.

Or at least protect the Judges ruling against his illegal actions.

Expand full comment

Why can't there be an injunction stopping musk and his cronies?

Expand full comment

Several judges have entered emergency temporary restraining orders, but those will expire. Also, so far, it's not looking like the executive branch is going to abide by the judicial branch orders and injunctions anyway. They're actually talking about cutting off the salaries to judges and court staff to shut down the courts. When you control the country's funding nerve center, you can just cut off payments to whomever you want. That's what Elonia Trusk is doing despite whatever the courts order him to do. Now, I would think that a judge could order the U.S. Marshals to go in and arrest Musk for contempt to bring him before the court and throw him and his incel hackers in jail for contempt of court if he does that. At that point, we'd definitely be in a constitutional crisis.

The next logical move for Elon is to take control of the Federal Reserve. As Curtis encourages.

The US Dollar is the world reserve currency. Like the Coca Cola brand, the US Dollar resides as a trusted meme in the brains of 7 Billion human adults. The reason the US Dollar is the world currency is that the Federal Reserve Board controls the volume of dollar creation. They control it with care and reason, without personal benefit.

Imagine Elon and Donny deciding how much money to create at the Federal Reserve? And how much they can steal.

The result would be horrendous harm to human beings. In America and around the world. A chaos catastrophe of untold proportion.

This evening, the Stormy's Little Mushroom signed a big piece of paper ordering that the Federal Reserve stop minting pennies. It's like they have to have something crazy for him to sign every day. It's almost like they're running a daily reality TV show that they have to keep exciting.

Any Dem “leader” who cannot embrace this example and immediately implement its suggestions must STFU and get out of the way. I read this just after emailing Cory Booker, the new Dem messaging chief, to suggest he refrain from emulating Merrick Garland and instead look to any of several more cognizant counterparts in the House and Senate. As Robbie Roberts suggests above, this needs to be in every elected Dem’s inbox.

You have laid out a powerful plan, Steve. You have serious political chops. You are couragous, clear eyed and strategic. You inspire others. In my book, all of these attributes, and more, (you look sharp in a tux), make you a candidate for leadership in a crisis.

Whereas, whereas, whereas …I herby nominate you, Steve Schmidt, to be leader of the Opposition.

Do I hear a second?!!

The Democrats play by the rules of the constitution the Democrats do not make up horrific lies ( not saying that they never lied) that other Democrats believe and repeat. The Democrats do not have a Fox News or a X account. I strongly believe the Democrats should have a stronger way of communicating with their constituents quickly. We don’t need to play the Trump cards but every Trump supporter that I unfortunately know are glued to Fox News and believe they are in on Elon Musks best friends list with “X”. We have to break the wall of communication

I’m sending my senators and Congress people those 3 ultimatums. Sadly, they are Schumer and Gillibrand. I doubt the Dems have the stomach or the spine to hold firm, but I will try.

The other message we need to deliver to the Democrats is that at this point, we have nothing to lose by getting rid of them and electing other, younger, more pugilistic leaders. How much worse can this get? We are already on the path to a lawless authoritarian state because of Democrats’ weak and feckless leadership and capitulation to Trump. My husband and I have donated many, many thousands over the last 20 years to various Democratic candidates. I will let them know that we will not give one penny more until we see some strong action to fight Trump, even if it doesn’t stop everything.

Remember- they all work for US!
