I can tell you my dad, 1929-2010 was a democrat all of his life. He voted democrat in every election, as have I. His experience and mine is that democrats, as a party are consistently and historically spineless. They want to do the right thing but if they come up against resistance, they fold like a cheap suit. They play by the rules while the other team changes them and moves the goalposts. They are like "deer in the headlights" with few exceptions, but the few exceptions are never in power.
Merrick Garland is a prime example the damage inertia and playing by the rules can do.
I guarantee you, unless aliens have inhabited the bodies of Biden, et al - ZERO will happen.
Judith, I tend to agree with you. I expect very little from them, especially in the Senate. Just curious what Steve thinks. During my musings throughout the day, it feels as though we will need to stand to ensure the Democrats do their job and when they tremble, and they will, we must be the voice that demands more from them. I don’t think we can allow them an inch of space.
Steve, you know them. Can you talk to us about this?
Kelly Lorffler, the billionaire who lost the 2020 Senate race in Georgia to Raphael Warnock, is likely to made Secretary of Agriculture. She and her billionaire husband have made millions in farm subsidies; so, of course this is the kind of partnership Trump wants in the oligarchy he plans for our future.
I wonder what position he is considering for Tucker Carlson (ambassador to Russia?), who becomes more authoritarian and unAmerican with every passing day:
“This is a remarkable moment where the only adult is Vladimir Putin. This person, we have been told, is Hitler, and deranged, crazy, dying of nine different kinds of cancer, can’t be trusted. Like the only reason we’re not — I mean, we’re all relying on his restraint. That’s just a fact right now. How weird is that?
“After they started the war, I mean the Biden administration started — that’s my view of it. They knew that Russia would invade if they publicly pushed Zelensky to join NATO, so they did that, Kamala Harris did that, and Russia invaded.
So Trump has been re-elected as POTUS and is making crazy nominations entirely on the basis of loyalty to him and his crazy and super dangerous plans as clarified by Project 2025 —- including to punish all of his “enemies “ whom his paranoia means could be anyone at all, and to put into concentration camps and deport millions of immigrants and their children who have been born and raised in the USA —- and including to impose a 10% tax on all imports, which will only make prices on basic commodities such as eggs, milk and dairy and lumber products higher than ever for Americans.
I suggest that Democrats should not focus on this national tragedy now, but instead on telling all Americans what they will and can do to restore freedom and democracy in America AND especially to address the bread & butter issues of hunger and homelessness —- and to avoid the culture/ systemic racism wars that have turned so many Americans against supporting a political party that they see as Woke and uncaring about their concrete needs.
Hey Steve, I have a question of strategy (I guess - not my expertise…) but could Schumer be forced to step down as minority leader in anyway so we can have a charismatic powerful voice to get in front of the camera and reach Americans as Trumps brutality unfolds? If so, do we even have anyone that fits the bill?
What a miserable mess all this is. Thank you, Steve, for another great analysis. Will the rubber stamp Senate vote for these “candidates” and shove them through? To tear down the country?
Donny’s game is not to place those in his cabinet with unique combinations of character, integrity, experience, and intelligence. His only two requisite qualifications are loyalty and experience in a national partisan kitchen cooking up outrage with village idiot antics. I’m waiting with high anticipation to learn what position he’ll invent and appoint MTG to, like the Space Force (citing her deep knowledge of Jewish space lasers). Unfortunately the MAGA bench is deep, when it comes to such players.
Pam Bondi also took a $25,000 bribe from Trump to dismiss the case against his fake university.
I listened to 2 speeches from Melanie Stanbury (house D. from New Mexico) she is terrific,
I wish more Dems would. speak out. I am still not convinced that Trump "honestly" won the election.
The GOP has been rigging elections and suppressing votes for decades and this was the most important one. Elon Musk has all the tools to hag computers. I wish Harris had authorized some hand recounts in swing state counties (suggested by Steven Spoonamore). Trump lost by a landslide in 2020 and spend more than a year on recounts. Democrats never fight, Hilary Clinton handed Trump the election without any recounts and illegal interference by the Russians. Trump would have fought like hell had it been the other way around.. We are losing our democracy, dictators don't leave in 4 years.
MAGA Harpies like Pam Bondi are soulless sellouts.
Pure Powerful Excellence, Steve. It is high time Dem leaders heed your advice! Keep hitting hard!
Shallow vacuous tRump seems to choose people based on their appearance, i.e. airhead Hegeseth.
Why is anyone still using X?
Here is my question, Steve. Do the Democrats have it in them for these battles?
Nope.

Kelly Loeffler would have made a good wife of a plantation owner. In some respects, we’re just going back to our roots.

But what do I know as a caring Canadian 🇨🇦 ?

This is a good idea. I think Sheldon Whitehouse would be a good choice, but perhaps there are others. The jig is up and it is time to fight.

I watched this on youtube, and the first ad that came on urged me to visit Qatar because it was such a safe place. Probably won't.
Yikes! I have no control over ad placements. Sorry!
It's fine. From time to time something I've looked at online almost immediately turns up in my youtube feed. Kind of creepy.

As always you say it perfectly.
For some reason I’ve been blocked by Pam Bondi on this app. ??
Thank you Steve.

Skeleton-rama. Nice reporting Steve.
