Donald Trump has returned to X as a loser with a slur, a lisp and deep rage. His encounter with Elon Musk was a pitiful event rivaling the DeSantis debacle that helped turn the Tallahassee book banner from contender to laughing stock.
The evening began with a broken promise.
Does anyone else remember, or is anyone else old enough to remember, when Donald Trump regaled an audience with sympathetically bandaged ears, promising them that the only time he would ever speak about it was at the convention?
I’m asking because he spoke about it with Elon Musk for 30 minutes before calling Kamala Harris “beautiful,” and comparing her to Melania Trump who wore this jacket, and destroyed the Rose Garden as First Lady.
Any cop who pulled Trump over on the highway and heard him speaking like he did with Musk would immediately ask him to step outside of the car — and that’s before discovering all of the felonies.
What was with the slurring and lisping?
The man talking to Musk, the one with the slur, wants to be commander in chief of the nuclear weapons arsenal again?
It really doesn’t seem like a good idea.
A long time ago, before Trump, there was another man who ruled the GOP with an iron fist. Elected officials quaked at the prospect of angering him. His name was Roger Ailes, and he was defenestrated by Trump. I thought about that moment in time — when Trump was gathering strength —and compare it to this one now when his return to Twitter, now X, is cloaked in such vivid weakness and decrepitude.
Trump has always been a liar, bullshitter and conspiracy theorist, but his delusions are worsening. He is growing completely detached from reality as his return to power has been derailed by a black woman. He denies her crowds, insults her, objectifies her, demeans her, dehumanizes her, and yet can’t touch her. Trump looks slow, lumbering, obese and addled — like Jabba the Hut with so many minions chained to him.
I suppose this is the nuclearized version of the bully taking his ball home. Trump is coming undone because his time is ending. The show is getting cancelled, and America is moving on towards something new.
Donald Trump sounded like a fool on X. He was diminished and incoherent. He’s losing and coming undone.
What a pleasure it is to watch.
My greatest wish is that the failed felon becomes obsolete and IRRELEVANT. That's it.
Not too long ago I posted about my concerns for the salvation of our country. I continue with those concerns. Is the Harris/Walz team potent enough to assure the continuation of our constitutional democracy? The "other" side is deeply flawed, and dangerously so. Trump/Vance represent the death squad, the squad that will kill our republic if elected. That so many among us are so blind, stupid or ignorant about the demon-elephant in the room tells a most woeful story about America today. If Trump emptied the swamp, he created one helluva sewer.
The country I grew up in is not the country I now live in. I am a "fifties" kid, having recently turned 80. Joined the Air Force right out of high school. Returned to civilian life, putting myself through college working full time and using the GI Bill. Built a relatively successful career. To some, I have lived "the American Dream."
Until roughly a decade ago, I never really felt shame for America. Today, I feel that shame in spades. We have become an ugly people. At least, 40% of us. I felt that shame ignite during the George W. Bush presidency, with his Cheney-fueled lie into the Iraq War. Obama softened my shame somewhat. Then came Trump. Omigod! The pornographic lying huckster actually made it into the Oval Office. Shame on steroids!
We witness on an almost daily basis the increasing unravelling of Donald J. Trump. And THAT is what the Republican Party offers up as a viable presidential candidate? Pinch me! Please tell me this is nothing but a nightmare. Onward, Harris/Walz for you are our only salvation. The Republican Party has become the enemy domestic of the United States, lock, stock and barrel.
