That is the most chilling article I have read regarding another Trump presidency and there is significant competition for that status. Terrifying. More terrifying is that not one MAGA supporter will read this . Not one Republican leader will pause over it.

I'm forwarding this edition of The Warning" to some MAGATS that I know, but with Steve's catchy line "We should all think about our Boomers", in the subject box. Hopefully this will get their attention. Reading to almost the end of the article, they will realize this has something to do with their Fuhrer and may lose interest but perhaps they'll start thinking?

Every single day I wonder how Americans who just don't want to bother going through another four years of ridiculousness might figure out how to live completely independent of their "Government." How could sensible Americans step outside of their comfort zone and take responsibility for the things that the new government clearly will not. This is quite an abstract question and although the power people have might seem limited, I believe caring about good things can be extremely impactful when the care is genuine. i.e. when it is not part of a campaign speech.

The first urgent order of this "transition" period is to reach out to people on the other side: the people who never watch the news that support Trump because he is a good talker. Their neglect is the reason we are in the situation we are in. What form will inclusion take? That has got to be priority number one.

I love Michael J Sandel's thoughts that the greater the divide between the rich and poor- the less functional democracy becomes. We need to spend more time with others who are different from us.

I also find Steve Schmidt's recent admonishment that History forgotten repeats itself to be an incredibly powerful idea. We have been through many of these challenges before. Some truly wise words have been spoken by those who lived before our time.

Reading about the dedication and commitment of those who serve on the front line of America's defence force is quite moving to say the least.

The way forward will require honesty and some deep reflection.

I hope the challenge gets easier and easier and most importantly that it will bring hope and increased confidence- that it will alleviate fear and uncertainty.

Thank you Steve. And yes, I think about the Boomers. I’ve spent over 60 years in and around the nuclear industry. I had pictures of the Nautilus and Thresher on my wall as a kid. Nuclear technology remains both the greatest threat, and the greatest opportunity (Eisenhower’s Atoms For Peace) that humanity faces. Maniacs like Donald Trump must never be allowed to control Boomers and their nuclear weapons of mass destruction.

My Father was a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy. My Father also helped with the Thresher. Naval Academy Graduate, MIT and Rensselaer. I was born at the Portsmouth Naval Hospital in 1960.

He was a man of great integrity, trustworthy and honor. I know of all you speak of. We grew up with Black Briefcases, never spoke of or touched by any.

Hmmm. My father attended both USNA and RPI. He was part of the nuclear navy after leaving the service, worked in Rickovers program on the commercial side. That led to my career in nuclear science and medicine. Small world.

My Father was Retired Lieutenant Commander Bruce John Wooden. In our Fathers fields, they all knew each other. My Father passed three years ago. No one I have ever met, or ever will meet, will compare his Love of Country, Honesty or Discipline with Clearances in his lifetime of work after the Military. These great “ Boomers “ held the line for all of us.

Donald J Trump only rants and raves about himself and the weaponization of DOJ and the FBI and other institutions that have ‘betrayed’ him. Not once has he ranted and raved about our military’s readiness to the world. Not once has he praised the men and women who work exceptionally hard to protect the country he wants to control. Not once has he talked about the positivity of our military and the commanders. Not once has he talked about his friend, Tubbie and what he is doing to our military at this time. As a matter of fact, Tubbie sounds like Donald. Not once has Donald even mentioned his gratitude to the military to keeping him safe when he went overseas to attend summits with world leaders. Donald J. Trump will set this country on fire if he is allowed to keep the secret codes to our military. He speaks negatively about our military and is a Putin wannabe out in the open for the world to see. Do we want a leader who has no respect for anyone but himself? Think about it.

Unfortunately, lately, I think of nothing else but the danger of Trump getting back in the White House...and never leaving😱

QTrumplican is a demented old man who will take outrageous measures against our America with absolutely zero consequences for his actions. Unfortunately, his evil deeds will occur whether he is in office or not. Nobody should support his need to be in the office as POTUS. His tentacles of destruction are many and far spread. He is the boomers with the key for annihilation.

There is a breath of good news today! 2/3 of voters will not or are not inclined to vote trump back into office.

When we hear 65% of gop is with him let’s all remember gop is 30% of voters and 65% of them is only 12% of American voters.

That’s why the media has to wake up and run their businesses for the 88% who are not MAGA FASCISTS.

I’d like to believe these numbers! But the polls since 2016 have been so wrong! I think that the country is so polarized that every poll is questionable!

The editors must know they are being conned. And they still report on his tricks as though they were legit. We must all push the Press to do their damn job. Ask WHY and dig for the answers and report the truth.

Thank you for this piece. We have become a complacent people. I know a public servant who has served in an extremely high security position: no car allowed into the area without being searched/scanned. No phone allowed allowed in to the building. Home phones constantly taped. They have given up many freedoms (personal privacy) in service to our country. Do you think the "average American" is aware of these circumstances? These people do not speak of their work. On only one occasion they said: "if you had my job, it would keep you up at night."

We must educate our citizens to the immediate and real possibilities of apocalypse. Also there are those who -for whatever reasons - (ie: delusional religious fervor?/ "second coming"?) long for it.

Reading this essay, I am reminded of the concluding paragraph in the Foreword to William L. Shirer's masterpiece 'The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich.

"In our new age of terrifying, lethal gadgets, which supplanted so swiftly the old one, the first great aggressive war, if it should come, will be launched by suicidal little madmen pressing an electronic button. Such a war will not last long and none will ever follow it. There will be no conquerors and no conquests, but only the charred bones of the dead on an uninhabitable planet."

Sobering read and videos. I served in Vietnam. Like most people who have seen war up close, I’m always thinking about the Chain of Command and who calls the shots. Our lives depended on it then, and they still do. Between the nuclear launch codes and appointments to the Supreme Court, I’d vote for my local dog catcher before I’d vote for Trump.

In context of the nuclear Navy we should consider two Georgians. One is a humanitarian, former President and part of the early nuclear Navy. The other is representing NE Georgia and announced she would like to be VP. Which Georgian do you stand with? What kind of leader is needed for our Nuclear navy ?

The idea of MTG as VP, and the possibly of her becoming our country's Commander in Chief sends a chill up and down my spine like none ever before.

Some additional Georgians are the Governor and Secretary of State who brushed off Trump’s request that they “find” votes for him. I’m very proud of them. They saved my Democratic vote for President Biden. They (& other GA Republicans) are honorable Americans.

Steve, the Trump voters don't understand and choose to remain willfully ignorant. That they put a vile buffoon into the Presidency tells everyone they do not understand the power the president wields around the world and the importance of good character....so they really don't understand the responsibility for, pressure on, and sacrifice the military wakes up to and takes on everyday and how amazing and successful the command structure is....so you can't be surprised by the existence of MTG and Tuberville...their voters laugh at us.

Hard working Americans, young Gen Z’s and millennials DESERVE SO MUCH BETTER from

Our politicians . Since we pay their salaries, pensions and benefits, we deserve more intelligence , more collaboration, more action of being a public servant as they took an oath.

How did this happen ? 25/30 years of mass media and talking heads of hate! Spewing their hate of paying taxes and more importantly wanting limited government !

This is bought and paid for by dark money , international influence, homegrown terrorism media controlled by radical right wing men. A few certain billionaires seeking more power and control because they have everything else, leaving mankind and womankind behind.

We all deserve better from

One another. Money is the root. Capitalism gone amuck . THAT is for another day.

Thank you from a Gold Star niece. What would make the American people pay attention to the destruction caused by Trump and his supporters? A movement fueled by grievances rather than patriotism is a danger to us all.

A very chilling article. So many things to be concerned about if Trump were to be elected again. This quote particluarly terrified me:

"Donald Trump controls the Republican Party at an institutional level. Fully. He is unambiguously the boss. He is an accused felon facing nearly 100 criminal charges that include being at the center of the greatest criminal conspiracy in American history. He is running on a platform of retribution, revenge, threat and division. His intimations toward violence and chaos will inspire the results he hopes for."

Trump is definitely out for retribution. The first time he did not understand everything he could do - AND he was not in a state of rage and "retribution and revenge". He feels cornered and angry and is lashing out. Violence and revenge will be his guides
