I was on a Zoom call with him as the news of the 34 felony convictions rolled in. Five minutes before he was positive there would be a 100% not guilty verdict. Although he was clearly in distress and a state of disbelief, his first reaction was to double down on his support. Sane person, I believe so. Cult member, absolutely. Salvageable, probably not. Sad. Very sad. His face plant was memorable.
Right now, nobody is more helpful than Steve Schmidt in figuring out what to say to his fellow citizens about how things are, who people are, what can be expected to happen, and what is to be done.
