Well, I stopped watching Joe and Mika and started watching ABC. Ouch. I am moving on yet again.

This next comment does not belong here but needs to be said. The IRS should finalize any open year returns for ftrump, issue payment due, and attach liens against properties. Getting money from the Commander in Thief will be difficult.

The administration will be worse than Chernobyl.

None of the corporate media can be trusted. Allmy news is coming from independent writers, mostly on Substack.

Holding the criminals to account is the top job of the current Executive. Will he do it? Or will he let the stupid crooks skate by?

The latter, I fear.

The choice is clear. cancel your subscription to the New York Times and to the Washington post, cancel your cable. support small independent journalists and use their reporting to make your decisions. spread the word and fight the flood of disinformation that is sure to come from what is now essentially State media. what little choice we have we will soon lose so make your move now. quit complaining. this was obvious from the beginning. Billionaires control the message and billionaires control the media. but they don't control everything, at least not yet.

It is time to kick propaganda outlets to the curb. If they sane wash, they are propaganda outlets, not news outlets. We can put them out of business by not subscribing and by blocking the channel. Let’s do it. https://hotbuttons.substack.com/p/medias-greed-creates-cesspool-within?r=3m1bs

Agree. Boycotts may be our most potent weapon against corporate cowardice. Unless and until they begin to show some integrity and honor, the first thing we should do is quit consuming their offerings. There are better uses for our time and attention

Fear and bullying are potent forces. Trump is a master of intimidation, and his MAGA mob are the worst brownshirts. This is starting to worry me more than I feel safe. But isn't that the goal — make people live in fear so they don't react or do anything to oppose dear leader and let his cronies run rampant through our government and our lives?

And,Kathleen, as I have been saying, with votes still being counted, 50.1% of voters did not vote for Trump. DJT won only 49.9%! And he's saying it's a mandate for retribution! And deconstructing our republic.

Since he can't tell the truth and must feel superior due to his utter lack of faith in himself or his sociopathy, it's a mandate. People around him gave him that term. He didn't know it. The most unqualified person ever in the white house.

You and Kim are on top of it. Ours will be an Army.

Who is "ours?" I know the evangelicals took over the Air Force starting in the 90s. Has the fringe right infiltrated the entire armed services? Is that what you mean?

Instead of "brownshirts" would it more accurate to call many of them "gullible" ?

Expand full comment

It's been nine years. They are no longer gullible but complicit, and thus, they are brown shirts.

Expand full comment

Kathleen: If they are brown shirts then they would be Nazis, right? But if you were to quiz them on the history of the brown shirts in Nazi Germany would they even know what Nazism stood for? I suspect they would come up short in knowledge, making them ignorant. But we are all ignorant in some areas (outside our fields) but we recognize that we can remove our ignorance through education. If you were to try to educate these people to cure them of their ignorance you would probably fail in most cases. That makes them "willfully ignorant" which is next door to stupid.

Ok, instead of brownshirts how about Red Hats?

I feel pretty much the same .. however I have fought against bullies all my life .. I am now old and simply tired of this crap .. we need to build a resistance movement that is similar to the French in WW2 ..

I'm up for that. As a woman, I've been lucky. I grew to 5'10" by 11 and stood up to bullies and boys mistreating girls since 5th grade. If you don't fight for what you believe in, then you are just one of the sheep. Never been a follower but a thinker who makes her own decisions. But then I was raised by a stong mother and very strong independent aunts who gave me the initial strength to stand for what I believe.

What stood out to me tonight is the ABC settlement, currying favor or tyranny's "obeying in advance" as it affects the Democracy Index. That he gets away with settling to the tune of millions is astounding given that he has not been accountable for so many high crimes and misdemeanors for his entire life! And that he ruined the lives and families of so many small businesspeople and women! It's appalling and sickening.

You might mistakenly think that the experienced senior management at Disney, Comcast and Paramount would have learned the playground lesson that you don’t give into bullies. Instead they have decided to hand over their lunch money and tomorrow they’ll endure further humiliation.

Ok so Twitter/X is out. I keep an account there but rarely sign on. Have you tried Blue Sky? It’s a friendly (!) place. It’s where all the liberals/Democrats migrated to right after the election. Lost of good commentary. You might want to try it out.

So now Disney and ABC Network and News are on the side of Donald and his fellow criminal thugs. For whatever reason, they capitulated to stupid, immoral, unscrupulous, shameless, anti-democracy autocrats. There are good people at Disney and ABC. However, as Charlie Munger once said, "When you mix raisins and turds, they are all turds."

I haven't been an ABC fan for years and the latest news only serves to verify my decision. So its Morning Joe down the drain, ABC gone and serious doubts about CNN. Is there any hope for the weak positioning of MSNBC and NBC?

Mediate and Daily Beast, Salon and Daily Kos are reliable and I believe they will never kiss the butt of the Orange Tyrant. Example of a succinct, accurate, and powerful article from Joemygod:

Trump Claims He Will Sue Iowa Pollster And Paper

December 16, 2024 Trump Corruption, Trump Lies

“She said I was going to lose by 3 or 4 points. And it became the biggest story all over the world because I was going to win Iowa by 20 points. The farmers loved me and I love the farmers. And it was interesting the way she did it.

“She brought it down two weeks before she said I was going to only win by four. That was a big story. And in my opinion, it was fraud, and it was election interference.

“She’s a very good pollster. She knows what she was doing. And she then quit before and we will probably be filing a major lawsuit against them today or tomorrow.” – Trump, today in Mar-A-Lago.

Trump also went on at length about his ongoing lawsuits against 60 Minutes, journalist Bob Woodward, and against the New York Times and Washington Post for their Pulitzer-winning “Russia, Russia, Russia hoax” reports.

Clearly, Trump feels emboldened by ABC News caving and settling his “rape” lawsuit for $15 million. https://www.joemygod.com/2024/12/trump-claims-he-will-sue-iowa-pollster-and-paper/

So, the incoming president (poser) sues a major network for millions and then threatens retribution against the "fake media." The network settles the suit for $15 million rather than have its license pulled by the FCC. Seems like a pretty cut and dried case of extortion to me. And, this is just the beginning of an immense criminal enterprise that will now be running the country. America has been taken hostage.

How would they feel if they had to clean their own toilets ?
