As we head into the final weekend before Election Day, I’ve tried to make a compelling argument for why Americans should vote for Kamala Harris and against Donald Trump.
Steve, I keep coming back to election night 2020 and your appearance on Nicolle Wallace’s show. At the time, she asked for your prediction, and you said “I trust the American people”.
In one of his recent podcasts I believe he said he was skeptical intellectually but in his heart he still has faith. Personally that meant a lot to me and I’ve been holding on to it. Steve also referenced Churchill and that America does the right thing after exhausting all possibilities; and he said this election will determine whether or not he was right. And I believe that to be true. So it seems to me right now he views it as a leap of faith and with all due respect as someone who listens to every single one of his podcasts, I hope he doesn’t mind that I am citing these comments; but they have meant a lot to me. I agree with so many of Steve’s opinions. I am holding on to faith and maybe if we all do that’s what it’s about at this point? Because if faith is on our side maybe it will help us clear that mountain top. I am praying 🙏
I have been listening to all of Steve’s podcasts and YouTube channel for years, too, and I’m in AZ, home to John McCain. Steve ran the McCain campaign in 2008, as I’m sure you’re aware. I’m trying to have hope and faith. I can’t believe that the majority could want anything to do with Trump after everything he has done and said and how he literally leaves a stench wherever he goes. Literally and figuratively. Trump has been in our faces now for almost ten years and it’s been a truly disgusting time. I so hope we can finally consign him to the trash heap.
Steve, I have followed your page and videos every day. You have gone out of your way to inform and guide us. Thank you. Today, I tried to put all my reasoning for not even coming close to voting for Trump down on digital paper. I ran out of energy. It all started with his statement about him protecting women, "whether they want it or not." But here is the bare bones of why the Harris/Walz ticket is the only logical choice for me.
Voting for Harris and Walz is critical to securing our Constitutional Freedoms and the future prosperity and health of everyday working people and their families—not just here but in democracies around the world.
I, for one, do not want an orange despot who says he will protect women “whether we like it or not” — he is a cheap womanizer and convicted sexual abuser.
He is the one who has no religious faith yet welcomes the power and money of Christian nationalist organizations to fill his coffers and shape “his” Supreme Court — he and they, in turn, stripped women of our bodily rights and then they gave him the power of a dictator should he become president again.
He is the one who says he has “a concept of a plan” for our healthcare— he tried to kill our Affordable Healthcare 100 times while in office — Johnson, his puppy in Congress, says they will do it this time. And you can kiss our Social Security, as we know it, goodbye because they have a “concept of a plan” for that, too.
He is the one who threw away the Obama administration’s Infectious Disease Playbook (Playbook for Early Response to High-Consequence Emerging Infectious Disease Threats and Biological Incidents). Consequently, over a million Americans died of COVID-19 under his watch, and the great economy that the Obama administration left him sank — he spent most of his time blaming it all on the Chinese, pushing snake oil cures, and saying it would go away, “Just like that, it will go away.”
He is the one who claims to be a “great” businessman and has offered the multi-billionaire X-man Musk the job of driving our country back into another tariff-driven Great Depression of 1929–39 — he was just a made-up TV actor who got famous for saying, “You’re fired.” In real life, he lost the millions his daddy gave him and filed for bankruptcy six times; he stole money from his bogus charity and screwed thousands of students out of their money for his Trump University scam. He lost three lawsuits against the scam and had to pay $25 million after he was elected in November of 2016. Now, to pay his ongoing legal fees, he’s selling $99 NFT digital trading cards featuring him as various superheroes, worthless $499 gold-colored sneakers, $60, Made in China, God Bless the USA Bibles, $800–$100,000 cheap watches and $100 self-designed, silver coins. Vote him into office again and he'll sell ripoffs of the Resolute desk and then put his picture on the Presidential seal to make and sell refrigerator magnets that White House visitors can buy.
He is the one who buys the vote of billionaires with promises of billion-dollar contracts, financial and environmental deregulation, and lower taxes — he was convicted of 34 felony counts for falsifying business records in the spring of 2024. Two co-conspirators related to that case served time in jail, so should he.
He is the one who dodged the Vietnam War and called those who served and were killed or captured “suckers and losers” and wants “HIS GENERALS” to be like those who served Hitler — he has said that he will send “his” military into the streets of America to stop, by any means, those of us who might practice our right to peacefully protest. Remember the peaceful protest of June 20, 2020, in Washington D.C. He had “his” National Guard deployed with tear gas, mounted horsemen, and rubber bullets to forcefully clear the area so that he could walk across the street for a photo op of himself holding an upside-down bible in front of a church sign. General Mark A. Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, apologized for his role in the photo op. His new generals wouldn’t apologize — their oath would be to him and not the Constitution.
He is the one who promises to round up and deport millions of innocent men, women, and children just because he and his minions hate the color of their skin or the religion they practice, or the “shit hole” countries they came from — he uses lies, conspiracy theories, and fake rage on his stage to fuel the flames of racism and fear of “others, them, they, the enemy within.”
He is the one who told “his” speaker of the house not to allow a vote on a bipartisan bill that would have helped solve the border problem—just so he could pound his lies, division, and racist ideology into the minds of those living in the towns and cities across our country, day in and day out, relentlessly for months on end.
He is the one who does everything in his power to get his face and words on the national news — then declares that he will sue publishers and shut them down, and lock the journalists up for the truths they tell about him.
He is the one who hates the term “Climate Change,” being deaf, dumb, and blinded by his greed for wealth and power. If elected, his administration would dismantle the National Weather Service and NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration). — Knowing about hurricanes or tornados is bad for business. — He has promised to pull the US out of the Paris Agreement, a legally binding international treaty on climate change. And he would “drill baby, drill,” and encourage the building of big, beautiful new condos on the new beaches created by the rising seas that washed away the old beaches and the homes and lives of those who once lived there.
He is the one who spent six days spreading lies about the Hurricane Helene response efforts — the lives of FIMA and other rescue workers were threatened by those who believed his lies and, in some cases, refused the help that was offered to them.
He is the one who would turn his back on our democratic allies and kiss the hand of Putin and other dictators because he wants to join their club — he is a lying, cowardly traitor who has been charged with 40 felony counts for refusing to return and trying to hide classified, top secret documents that he took from the white house. The case, which was dismissed by one of his appointed judges, is pending an appeal by the Justice Department.
A vote for Harris is for a better world, our freedoms, and Democracy.
A vote for Him is for a world of hurt like one of his rally hellscapes — Garbage in, garbage out.
Young white males were being interviewed after leaving a voting station. As they squinted into the daylight, they tried to formulate an answer as to why they voted for MAGA. When you have lived your entire adult life in your mom’s basement, daylight can be a problem.
We can only hope that the undecided, and even Trump supporters will, in the end, have the clarity of mind to understand what Trump is saying and the actions he will take; that they will stop saying, "it's just Trump being Trump," as if that wiped out the anti-Americanism and the threats, openly stated or thinly veiled, in every utterance from this man; that with that in mind, in the privacy of the voting booth their conscience will win out and sweep Harris/Walz to overwhelming victory!
I feel weird to write this, but if Trump wins and also the House, I'm going to be wishing Kevin McCarthy wasn't such a backstabbing a-hole, or better that Paul Ryan wasn't a purely transactional Unamerican jackass, or better still that John Boehner wasn't such a wuss. Because even John Boehner is not in the same universe as these guys.
The collective existential paradox of the American republic’s plight at this darkening hour is that, should Trump legitimately win the election or manage to engineer a win out of a decisive and clear loss, this country may well be faced with an exigent military coup to save its democracy from the mass hysteria-driven Nazification of shared Trump psychotic delusion. The argument on behalf of such an intervention would be a moral resolution of this prima facie paradox: that a democratic republic, like every individual who comprises it, is empowered to act as it desires, provided no one else is harmed, but what it and its people are not free to do is to sell itself and themselves into slavery by choosing to renounce and jettison that freedom in an act of national suicide that augurs fascist and totalitarian self-enslavement, the death of freedom and obliteration of the possibility of human fulfillment and happiness.
Some critics of those who disagree with our fear of a second Trump term, claim we are actually fascinated by him and he lives "rent free in our minds." Like you and all of us, I would love to never have to think about that f-upped jerk for the rest of my life. What fascinates and eludes me is why these people admire and love Trump. They are the ones who have kept him central to our politics.
Franklin’s famous quote, supposedly spoken to a woman standing just outside the Philadelphia building where the Constitution was written, that the people are responsible for maintaining our republic has not been so relevant since the onset of the Civil War in 1861. The greatest test of our democratic republic since then is now before us.
And I have to say that I don’t trust the American citizenry to do the right thing. The election of Trump will have monumental consequences for all Americans and the rest of the world. The precipice is now directly in front of us and time has run out. May God help us at this decisive moment.
If we had a popular vote for President — something that a real democracy would have — we would not be worrying one bit. Harris would win by several million votes. One person, one vote. Game over.
Unfortunately, the men who were at the Constitutional Convention were not believers in democracy. They feared popular rule and created the Electoral College as a check on true democracy.
And then there is George F. Will, who today wrote that Chump and Harris are the worst possible Presidential candidates. He needs to retire and yell at clouds.
For those of you not familiar with Will’s wisdom, he wrote that Tim Scott would make a great President. Two weeks later — after Scott danced in front of Chump and said “I love you” — Will wrote that Scott would be a terrible President.
He is an 83 year old man without a clue, but has a column.
You’re so right. All of us want this to be over but it won’t be and Kamala must make sure Biden is prepared to deal with it. My greatest fear is our trump fellating highest court.
Whatever it legally takes, the United States can never move forward with this current, no longer supreme, corrupt court. They’re not even pretending anymore. John Roberts is and always was a jackal, just waiting for three more members of his pack.
for Warning fans (and possibly a Lincoln Project ad):
Rarely do we agree with anything that comes out of Trump's mouth, but we have to admit he really "nailed it" with his "enemies from within" comment; enemies that a far greater threat to our democracy than Russia, China, and North Korea combined; enemies who, while not necessarily being made to face a firing squad, should absolutely never, ever, be allowed to ascend—or re-ascend—to power in this country.
And their names are:
Donald J Trump
J. D. Vance
Family-separation guru Stephen Miller
Steve Bannon
Foreclosure King Stephen ("Please don't call me Steve") Mnuchin
Something Adam Kinzinger wrote, which deserves repeating:
For those who think that warnings about the fraying of democracy are hyperbolic or that it “could never happen here,” remember that every country that lost its democracy once thought the same thing.
Not that there aren’t numerous possible dark scenarios to posit following a Trump return to power, but consider the catastrophe of another, even worse pandemic than Covid without the safety net of a government response driven by widespread anti-vax and anti-science hysteria supercharged by Robert Kennedy, Jr. as head of HHS or even, under a Trump dispensation, Surgeon General!

Actually the jackals now number six. Don’t forget the handmaiden?
You are right, of course. Neither Roberts nor Barrett is any better than Thomas, Alito, Gorsuch, or Kananaugh.
