As Pete Hegseth faces sharp questioning from Jon Ossoff over the Trump administration's national security decisions, concerns about accountability continue to mount.
The guy is a rock. He didn’t blink with Sec. Petey ( think little rascals ). Hegseth got all hot under the collar and was squirming in his chair. Sen. Ossoff kept the pressure on. It was brilliant and a sight for sore eyes and ears as most Senators and Reps don’t put any pressure on people testifying before committee.
The Dems need to do more of this but, with an economic twist to it.
They have to show American voters their planand their way is better. We all know the orange imbecile and his MAGANAZIs are assholes. That’s documented fact like the sun rising in the east and setting in the west. What Americans need now is hope. Yes, MAGANAZIs need to be held up from their crimes but for now lead by example. Show voters how you’re better than these charlatans, grifters and nazis. Then we can prosecute their crimes. We can chew gum and walk at the same time.
I agree; I’ve always voted Democrat but this isn’t a two party democracy. I’m encouraged by several new people but we have too many old people in the senate & the house who have gotten rich & lazy & must go. They don’t deserve to keep their seats if they aren’t out there everyday working to fight the administration of fools & the hate & theft they taken everyday.
The House narrowly passed its marquee $1.15 trillion defense policy bill largely along party lines Wednesday amid a bitter partisan divide over President Donald Trump’s conduct of the war against Iran and his push for a massive Pentagon spending boost.
Republican leaders also attached their election overhaul backed by Trump, known as the SAVE America Act, at the behest of hard-line members who previously blocked the defense bill.
Just six Democrats supported the annual National Defense Authorization Act, which House Republicans muscled through in a tight 216-212 vote. Those Democratic votes proved decisive, helping Republicans overcome seven defections from their own ranks to pass the bill.
Democratic leadership recommended members oppose the bill amid disagreements with Republicans’ approach to the budget and Iran and the minority largely being blocked from receiving votes on key issues. Six centrist Democrats still backed the GOP-led bill: Reps. Henry Cuellar of Texas, Don Davis of North Carolina, Jared Golden of Maine, Vicente Gonzalez of Texas, Adam Gray of California and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez of Washington.
The only state among these Democrats where the primary hasn’t taken place is Washington. I hope the progressive, Brent Hennrich, wins over Rep. Perez. The primary is on August 4 in Washington this year. If you live in Washington or know someone who does, let them know about Rep. Perez’ vote.
George W. Bush started the atrocity known as the Iraq War. He and his cohorts were never prosecuted for their crimes. A moral failure by this country. A failure of duty. I was not impressed by Senators of either party. Which helped to lead us to further failures, one of them known as MAGA.
With the current mess we are in, I have been trying to sort things out. Bush courted the Saudis as much as the MAGA people are doing now, despite the fact that 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudi citizens. And despite the fact that there exists evidence to this day that Saudi Arabia may have bankrolled 9-11. But here we are once again. First Iraq. And now Iran.
I have puzzled over the same thing. Could it be because Republicans, by their very nature, love extremely wealthy people, especially those who flaunt their wealth?

Re nukes, it will be difficult to explain how Iran can realistically be deprived of Nukes if they are surrounded by countries which have them. I know they hate the US and Israel, but it looks like general escalation to me.

Fortunately, it is extremely unlikely (impossible?) that the bill will be approved by the Senate.
