2023 will be a year of chaos. It will be a dangerous year. Below are my 11 predictions: There will be hundreds of mass shootings in the United States of America during 2023. The first mass shooting will occur before the sun sets on the first day of the year.
Well and a good morning to you. I don’t know. I do think the Republican led House will be a mess. Two years of nonsense.
I like Biden and have felt he was exactly what was needed after Trump. I have always felt he should be a one-term President, a transition President for a new generation. Because so many things are such a mess, I am conflicted about this now.
I don’t think Trump will go to prison. Not allowing him to run for office again should be the minimum action. Ban him from any type of social media, travel restrictions, no rallies, remove all government funding, pension, Secret Service, etc. Maybe banish him to Epstein’s island.
Ukraine is a worry. We have to get Russia stopped. Have no idea how this can be done, but it needs to be done soon. Thinking I am on the side of giving them everything they need to finish this off.
Will be interesting to watch how it all plays out. I expect I will spend a great deal of time gardening to keep me sane.

i have no predictions. I have only an ascertainment that democracy will prevail. Humanity is at a turning point. All past insane "beliefs" that tragedies happen intentionally and for a reason have been the power that was vested upon bad leaders and terrible judgment calls that cause only death, destruction and devastation. It takes generations to quench the memory of ethnic hate and, yet, such memory prevails to cause the next tragedy. Just as Israel is a pocket of self mirage so is this New Russia, and I recall now her old name, Russia, the one that made it a major contributor of good for the world. Trump and Putin are two faces of the same coin: deceit, corruption, empty souls that seek self preservation in wealth and power, not the advancement of justice and civil societies. Volodymyr Zelenski is the face of new leadership in the world. He turned his back on both Trump and Putin. Europe must choose wisely ahead, to repudiate conflict within its borders. Climate change has descended with such force that it will force democracies to choose the right courses of action for our one world.
I want to finish by saying that the one person that most influenced me in how we can rise from wrong choices, the infamous "if" we had chosen the correct path we would never have been subjected to such lentitude in judging the January 6 Insurrection for what it was, the most egregious attack on the Constituional Republic of America. Jill Wine-Banks, a former Watergate prosecutor, says that President Richard Nixon should have been indicted.
Many of these are SS bold and I would expect no less. The gift I want for 2023 is: Vladimir Putin will be toppled. Happy New Year, Steve. Keep that keyboard clicking!
George Santos will be completely exposed as a criminal & will be indicted by theDOJ & NY State. Trump will continue to spiral downward (remember, there is no bottom) & it will be reported that he has made arrangements to flee. The GOP infighting will turn off more moderate voters & Dems will win special elections in 2023. Economic volatility will continue into the new year. Musk will be removed from Tesla & will ultimately destroy Twitter.

I predict that I will lose 10 pounds and gain them again; that I will continue to read your posts and the comments they motivate; that we will send a man/woman to the moon again and someone will say that it's fake. I believe we can do better and worse, it all depends on what new shiny object we get distracted by while Democracy is "redesigned". Anarchy is the uncontrolled application of Democracy; I'm afraid that the test run they had in January 6 will be repeated with many more casualties. Happy New Year! One alibi: a referedum for statehood for Puerto Rico will be considered, if approved and executed statehood will win, but no one will care, again.
This needs a Venn diagram. Would good to see how much is common among those responding.

On primaries possibly NH remains for tradition. I do not see Biden being primaried ( yes it’s not a word) but it could occur.
I do expect Trump and his crowd to be indicted I expect quite a few to be in Jail. Most likely Trump will escape and live in exile. With Putin gone Russia is closed to Trump Possibly somewhere in the Middle East where we do not have an extradition treaty. Possibly that is what Jared is working on: a back door.
Larger question is how many sitting Congressional members will be indicted and removed After all sedition should really be a reason for expulsion. We may also learn how many were true believers in the steal, and how many went along due to physical and financial threats. I think more than a few on the latter

Well, If you took the greatest hits of 2022 and lined them up, it would look worse. We are truly living in a dangerous and shitty time. Let’s just see what happens. I like that Putin gets toppled, and Trump gets indicted though.
I must say Steve, I pray you have struck an uncommon moment of inaccuracy, in some of these, but I cant say any would be a surprise.
Some other possibilities are:
Putin will die, and that will bring the Ukranian war to an end. Russia’s own ailings (which are vast) will reveal themselves in that moment. A Russian leader will emerge who understands its people are its true strength and will know to rebuild Russia by strengthening its own citizens. Life will change in Russia.
Russia and Ukraine will rebuild in unison. Zelensky will be a part of this.
US congress will be re-invented by the removal of seditionist. If Garlands DOJ actually comes through (as Garlandites keep promising) our politics will encounter a sweeping change. That will bleed into our highest court which will see at least one seditionist removed (Thomas)
If we are lucky enough to remove this slime, guns will stop being the industry that kills its citizens, and cross aisle democracy will prevail.
Much of the world you are predicting would change paths with the removal of the seditionist in our midst (congress)
Donald Trump will flea, for sure, but will live out his days out of this country. So too will his family. Donald will have rallies on Twitter.

I hope for breakthrough treatments for Alzheimer’s and cancer. More states recognize the validity of medical marijuana and psilocybin therapy. Gen Z becomes more vocal and politically active about the environment and gun violence. VR technology becomes more mainstream . Interest rates remain steady. Inflation decreases. Reds go the World Series. Someone is born who will will someday make the world a better place.

Interesting reading Steve, thanks! Note that I don’t get into predictions for their own sake. Especially in this case, being right can be a negative many times. But I am interested to hear what we can do to mitigate or lessen the effects of these negative predicted events if they do come to pass.
