For 24 years now, Americans in western North Carolina have been re-electing a woman named Virginia Foxx by margins of 70 percent — despite the fact that they are getting poorer, their children less educated, and their healthcare all but obliterated. She will likely win again this year. We’re not a bright people, which leaves idiocy always in play.
She sponsored a bill to end birthright citizenship, she votes against emergency aid packages for natural disasters, and she called Obamacare a form of terrorism. I could go on.
We must spread the word over & over to wake those people up. I’m an old lady in Texas & I get a horrible feeling when I hear “Virginia Fox”. I’m old & may not remember many facts about her but her name is synonymous with corruption & evil. Where can we focus out comments to help spread the word? She’s old like a lot of Democrats that I’m tired of th getting richer every year & not protecting us.
Chuck Hubbard is running against her. He lost to her in 2024. I would like to think he could win this time. Maybe. We cannot help people who won’t help themselves.
When people are in a cult of personality & evil they can be easily manipulated. And most that live in an isolated community no matter the state are doomed while repeating to put themselves LAST by voting for a deranged racist like Virginia Fox. In her, they see themselves. As pathetic as it is, they are comforted by people like her. In her they see a WHITE NATION. Simple as that. Poor, white and “Christian”. I hope her opponent goes door to door, prepared for them to be armed & dangerous. They only watch Fox Entertainment. They do not know or CARE what really goes on beyond their own forest. Even as it still remains in ruins. With more lies & corruption to come if they do not slither their way OUT of the grip of MAGA. As I was watching the primary results last night I was struck with the thousands upon thousands of voters who were voting for Nazi Republicans who as leader of the CNPP(Christian Nationalist Pedo Party) brazenly corrupts, lies incessantly, shows by his actions he cares little for the American people he serves, and is a threat to the country’s national security.
So not only candidates are aligned with this kind of behavior but have either morally accepted the facts that this is what they stand for as a person or they use a useful tool called denial to rid themselves of guilt of what they represent.
Let’s get this straight. There are candidates and voters who morally align themselves with a political party that stands for outright corruption at the federal/state level, is remarkably racist and bigoted, and is ok with having their taxpayer dollars fleeced to support an illegal war and pay for a ballroom that nobody wants. Perhaps wealthy Republicans don’t care about corruption as long as they can buy expensive homes and take care of their own selfish needs. Screw the country!
How can this be, that a part of our democratic society is so morally depraved? How can it be that part of our democratic society blesses its demise into a feckless dictatorship and willing to throw away their freedoms that for 250y people have died for? There needs to be some serious reflection and introspection for who WE the People are and what WE stand for.
This is all so discouraging . I hope and pray Little Marco and disgusting JD never get to live in the WH. We will see what is going to happen. Thankfully, America still has people like Scott Pelley who, unlike Marco Rubio, is willing to tell it like it is and as the saying goes, "speak truth to power,," and in so doing show that "powerful" people like Trump and his allies are really weak and frustrated people:

In a statement released hours later, Pelley fired back and called the CBS News head a liar while pointing out that mention of his firing led off the meeting with Weiss, Bilton and CBS News President Tom Cibrowski, who flew into a rage and showed Pelley the door."
Weiss’s statement is 100% corporate double speak. You know this is true when you read things such as “ engage “, “ find a way back “ and “ part ways “.
Anyone who hears / reads such things; their BS detector should be ringing loud and clear. Ms Weiss’s actual, IRL, statement probably went something like this, “ We told Mr Pelley to toe the line. He said No, I’m not doing that. We said eff you. Pack up your desk. You’re outta here. "
