Here are my thoughts on Donald Trump's most recent political rally in Waco, Texas. There is obvious symbolism to Trump’s choice of Waco for his rally on the 30-year anniversary of the Branch Davidian massacre.
Trump’s words are getting more dangerous and more extreme by the hour. He has vengeance in his heart. That should scare every American. It certainly scares me. It also foreshadows future political violence in the days ahead.
Steve, there's nothing more vicious and dangerous than an authoritarian, psychopathic, malignant narcissist with revenge on his mind.
As Bob Altemeyer has shown with his decades of research on the "Right Wing Authoritarian" personality, such figures have zero empathy and a morbid desire to dominate others, and punish people when they won't submit and obey or dare to question or criticize the authoritarian.
Furthermore, numerous mental health professionals have warned of the dangers of Trump's malignant narcissism, such as many of those who contributed to Yale U. forensic psychiatrist Dr. Bandy X. Lee's edited volume originally published in Oct. 2017, 18 months later updated with ten additional contributors as *The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump: 37 Psychiatrists and Mental Health Experts Assess a President - Updated and Expanded with New Essays* (544, pp., March 2019) See https://www.amazon.com/Dangerous-Case-Donald-Trump-Psychiatrists/dp/1250212863
At this point, deranged Donald is on a rampage....
Hey, I want revenge, too. The kind that’s supposed to be doled out by rule of law. The kind that would be doled out on any of us. The kind that should be doled out swiftly and harshly for the worst kind of offenses against our way of life.
Why do we keep putting Boy Scouts in charge of dotting every ‘i’ when Bill Barr opened the door to legal latitude without consequence? Why do we allow these scoundrels to hide behind dubious interpretations of the first and second amendments whenever it suits them? Where is the elasticity in OUR interpretation of rule of law when the other side keeps shredding it?
Kinda reminds me of British Redcoats marching in perfect formation into the line of fire. Our self-limiting behavior and lack of creativity is no match for a motivated pack of sharpshooters hellbent on victory at all cost.
