On theĀ 3rd anniversary of the horrific January 6 insurrection, I talk about the legacy of Donald Trump inciting those riots, and why we must never forget his role on that tragic day in American history:

December 7th, 1941 was a date that that will live in infamy and so will January 6th, 2021. President Rooseveltās declaration of war in 1941 eventually led to the deaths of 407,000 brave American soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines. All these brave Americans who honored the call to duty and fought in this horrific world war knew exactly what they were fighting for. My father and his two brothers were among them. They were fighting for our nations freedom and our democratic way of life against the evil and tyrannical forces of fascism, imperialism, and totalitarianism. They were fighting for the freedom of worship...the right to pursue spiritual fulfillment, freedom from fear...preserved through true democracy, freedom of speech...the greatest guarantor of liberty, and freedom from want..the ambition of all great nations. They were fighting against tyrants that they knew by name; Mussolini, Tojo, and Hitler. Now a new, and homegrown aspiring tyrant, Donald J Trump, is casting a dark and ominous shadow across the land of the free and the brave. Now it is time for us to rally behind the flag and fight to preserve, protect, and defend the core values of democracy that so many American men and women fought and died for. This challenge to our democracy must be met.
It was a horrific day, not only for America but for democracy around the world. Yes, the world was watching and trump canāt do a single thing to erase it from our collective memory. He can deny that he attempted to steal the 2020 election and the peaceful transfer of power. But those who were watching their television on that day know precisely what they viewed in real time - a despicable mob and their aberrant leader trying to overthrow democracy.
