Simultaneously, White House officials have been talking about the health of the economy, saying that, in essence, it is the best ever. There is certainly data that validates these White House claims.
Soon the American people will get to weigh in on that question and settle a matter around which there seems to be a great deal of disorientation. Is the economy good or not? Who is it good for, and who is it bad for? Is the economy experienced differently in different parts of the country by different groups of people? Do people feel the health of the economy experientially, or is it something they accept as assertion from self-interested politicians on the basis of economic statistics? Soon we will know.
