Whenever I see an NBC News story with these bylines I know it is rock solid and gold-plated: Peter Nicholas, Carol E. Lee and Megan Shannon.
This is the lede of their story today:
Former President Joe Biden has told some Democratic leaders he’ll raise funds, campaign and do anything else necessary for Democrats to recover lost ground as the Trump administration rolls back programs the party helped design, according to people close to him.
Biden privately met last month with the new Democratic National Committee chairman, Ken Martin, and offered to help as the party struggles to regain its viability amid polling that shows its popularity has been sinking, the people said.
The only thing I can think to say has already been said:
What do you think?
Trump is happy.
A new NBC News poll shows that the Democratic Party’s popularity has dropped to a record low. Only 27% of registered voters said they held positive views of the party — the lowest figure in the network’s polling dating to 1990.
Asked about the prospect of Biden re-entering the political sphere, President Donald Trump told reporters in the Oval Office Friday, “I hope so.”
Jan Kleeb, a DNC Vice Chair says the Kool Aid tastes delicious
“If you were to call any state party chair and ask them if they wanted Joe Biden to be a keynote speaker for their annual dinner, the answer would be yes. He is beloved by the party and beloved by the voters.”
The Bidens are currently sequestered with their team of gaslighters, all plotting how to make money on the books that are coming:
Each plans to write a book. As Biden develops a theme for his memoir, he has been consulting former senior administration officials, including Secretary of State Antony Blinken, national security adviser Jake Sullivan and senior White House advisers Mike Donilon and Steve Ricchetti.
Now that Biden has signed with CAA in Hollywood it is fair to wonder who will play him in the dramatic pardon scene at the end.
Of course, Biden’s selfishness is his legacy.
His wife’s lust for power, combined with the insatiability of his aides for more of it, has led America into the abyss.
His legacy is one word: Trump.
It is a legacy of catastrophe. Here is the reality: Joe Biden will serve the sentence that he imposed on all of us in solitary.
Shouldn’t the lies and delusions be put down at long last?
I see a real crisis
How about you?
More Biden and more Schumer is not the right path.
The party is already in the ditch.
On this one, I don't agree with Steve Schmidt. Biden's legacy over the years is frankly heroic. He shouldn't have run for a second term, but there is no guarantee that things would have gone better for the democrats if he hadn't. His actual political accomplishments during his term were a product of his political skill with congress and have been very good for the country (Infrastructure Bill, Chips and Science Act). These were badly, desperately needed. Steve, sometimes your desire for purity amounts to letting the perfect be the enemy of the good. It would be better for you to focus on the abdication of the Republicans than on bashing Joe Biden.
A little strong, Steve. Agreed, Biden and Schumer are not the way forward. Should Biden have withdrawn from race much, much sooner? Yes. Was he enabled by his wife and staff? Yes. Is he the sole reason we are in this mess? No. I hold the sycophantic MAGA voters to just as much account. People who were told repeatedly the house was on fire, but now claim “but we didn’t know it would be this bad. We just voted for change! Who knew Trump would actually follow through with his threats?” Trump is back in power breaking all the dishes because idiots voted for him. Idiots who would have voted that way no matter what candidate the Dems put up.
