At a recent Trump rally, the crowd erupted into "Send Them Back" chants. When does that chant become more violent? Will Donald Trump act on those words if he's re-elected? He has told us he will. Scumbaggery is his rocket fuel, and all you need is anger, rage, and stupidity if you want to advance politically:

It's depressing that millions of people support Trump, but what actually worries me more is that so many good people are paralyzed with despair about our country. We should focus on getting Democrats and moderates to vote for Biden in swing states. It's not about a candidate being perfect. We need to support the least bad candidate. Please look at Oath - https://app.oath.vote/ - where you can choose the presidency, Congress, or reproductive rights (or all 3). Oath analyzes thousands of races and tells you where to most effectively donate. If you can't afford to donate money, pls forward to everyone you know. Do something! I've stopped rage-posting on Washington Post comment sections, and I'm now spending that time sharing this info on Substacks' comments, and by emailing my friends and acquaintances. The stakes are too high for us to give up.
About 20 years ago, the Conservative Secretary of Education under George Bush, Bill Bennett, compiled stories to promote the moral education of young people. He published "The Book of Virtues" and "The Moral Compass".
From the "Book of Virtues" listing on Amazon:
"Responsibility. Courage. Compassion. Honesty. Friendship. Persistence. Faith. Everyone recognizes these traits as essentials of good character. In order for our children to develop such traits, we have to offer them examples of good and bad, right and wrong."
We now live in a society where morals, honor, honesty--Right and Wrong--are never discussed in the public marketplace. For many in politics, particularly former Conservatives in the GOP, these virtues have been replaced with "What can I get away with?"
Donald shoves crimes and outrage and depravity and dishonor into our faces, daily, and expects us to eat it.
While President of the United States of America, Donald Trump instructed his communications director, Allysa Farah, to lie to the press. "Say whatever you want. Just repeat it and they will believe you." Mix facts with fiction. Deceive without shame. The Roy Cohn Playbook. The Vlad Putin Playbook.
The GOP has come a long way in 20 years! Today Dishonor is a Virtue.
