I'm heartened by Steve and David’s optimism about a Harris win and Trump’s star finally burning out. But I fear a Harris win will be followed by counties refusing to send in results so that states can't certify results, a spate of lawsuits, more distrust of elections, accompanied by violence. I'm not counting on republican party officials or candidates to accept results, much less try to stop the shenanigans.
Spending as much time as I do in Arizona, I can tell you we lived through elections where people camped out by ballot drop boxes with cameras and guns, where crowds showed up at the ballot counting stations with guns threatening everyone inside, where we had to hire security guards just to have a bake sale or a meeting of democrats. There is plenty of real stuff to be scared about.
Harris should talk about the fear. Trump’s description of things is dark and dangerous. And bat shit crazy. But there are things voters should fear besides women’s loss of bodily autonomy, like dictatorship, revocation of licenses for broadcast media outlets, using the DOJ to go after political opponents, using the military against US citizens, controlling the Federal Reserve for political purposes, across the board tariffs that tank the economy. It is true that some people think a strong man will fix our problems and they don’t care if they lose their right to vote . . . because they don’t know history and don’t know what it could mean. Be joyful. Work hard. Stand firm. But be afraid too, or angry, or whatever it is that motivates you to do what you can to defend democracy.
Go Coach Walz!
Reporting without regard for facts is just propaganda. CBS just chose to be a self preserving, newslike business.
ABC minimally fact checked. We now follow David Muir & left Lester Holt after so many years of NBC being our default choice. We knew Lester Holt was suspect but had hoped he was sufficiently professional. More importantly we didn't know we had a good alternative.
