We read about warrantless, unconstitutional, Gestapo-like attacks on people of color, some who are even American Citizens, and, other than write about it, make videos of it taking place, and whine about it, we are doing nothing to stop it.
We are doing nothing to stop it because it hasn’t yet happened to “us” personally.
First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist
Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist
Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist
Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me
Short of violent resistance (which I suggest no one should do), the only way to stop these illegal, unconscionable acts from happening is to remove MAGAt Republicans, Liar, Fraud, Con, Convicted-Felon Trump’s enablers, from the offices they were elected to. Make damn sure that you are registered to vote and make damn sure that you vote in the next round of elections.
The way I've been thinking about what is on the line, and what Dems need to demand:
What is happening that has never happened before in America?
It's the militarization of American cities, and the disregard for the Constitution.
That's where the real crisis is.
Steve is right--we cannot make this about health care. And we certainly cannot make it about the Epstein files. No more right v. left. The right as guardian fiscal responsibility, and defense of democracy abroad?
Totalitarianism is not a form of conservatism.
