After a weekend full of unhinged rallies and speeches, one thing is certain: Trump's fascism is clearly on display and out in the open. I break down the latest rhetoric from Trump, and explain the similarities that he shares with history's worst leaders:

Steve,
When does it become a government responsibility to protect its Constitutional Republic from threatened violent overthrow by a fascist regime?
If voters are suppressed from within by a slow moving coup…
If violence is practiced to suborn an election…
If lies are used to misinform and aggravate fascistic supporters…
If retribution is used against citizens who oppose fascism…
If mass deportations of legitimate residents, families and citizens are threatened…
When should the elected government take firm action to preserve itself? Or is it “up to the voters” who remain unafraid to put down the insurrection?
The threat to our democracy is worse than Steve says. I believe that the Silicon Valley crowd, the Tech Bros like Peter Thiel and Elon Musk, want one of their own in the Oval Office, namely, J.D. Vance. Trump is too erratic and downright embarrassing for them. They aren't particularly hostile to migrants, gays, etc.; they just want to run the country. They are Libertarians, they think they're smarter than the rest of us, and above all else, they don't want to pay taxes. And Trump has talked about giving Musk a role in his administration, maybe even a Cabinet post.
So if Trump wins (God forbid!), I'd sleep with one eye open if I was him. Thiel and Musk and their ilk won't want to put up with Trump's crap for long, not with Vance waiting in the wings, and they are ruthless. (Who would question the sudden death of an unhealthy 78 year old whose medical condition is kept a mystery?)
I also suggest that if you look at this thesis, Musk's purchase of Twitter doesn't look so frivolous. He's shut down a lot of the dissent already, and he's now got his own platform -- and Trump's appreciation.
