Trump's CPAC speech foreshadows a deranged 2024 election cycle
The schlepper who stepped in front of a half-filled room of political extremists, incels, grifters, weirdos and the credibly accused “pummeler” Matt Schlapp has clearly run out of gas. His ravings were demented, and his declarations that he would deliver “retribution” are the addled spasms of a deluded and broken man who was the most epically incompetent US president in American history.
His disgrace is singular, his illness acute and his legacy carved in granite. He is a crook and conman, who floated like a piece of excrement on top of a foul sludge of media, political, economic and cultural corruption to the Oval Office where he summoned the furies of fear and division as he abused his power and made America weaker and worse. He is a low man, filled with malice, arrogance and self-regard that is saddling up for his final ride. It will be a pathetic spectacle, and with each ranting, he will continue to bruise the nation and the American people he betrayed many times.
2024 will be different for Trump. There will be no lazy morning telephone interviews from bed. There will be no laughter at his shtick, only revulsion. The billionaire donors are gone. The crowds are gone. The TV cameras are mostly gone. Even Fox News has moved on. He is America’s bloated Norma Desmond, a forever canker on the soul of the nation that doesn’t deserve the affliction. Whatever happens next for Trump, he is on the road to ruin. Soon, his hands will be bound as he is arrested and faces the consequences of his misconduct and corruption in a nation of laws. He is going to lose control of every thing in the volatile months ahead, including the MAGA movement. Why? Because he is a loser of staggering dimensions, and Americans can’t stand a loser. There will be no comeback.
