This is painful to watch

Many commentators say that America has entered an era in which there are no persuadable voters left to be persuaded, but that viewpoint was shattered on day one of the Bund gathering in Milwaukee, when Speaker of the House Mike Johnson turned into a bespectacled bobble head enthralled by Amber Rose, Kanye Himmler’s ex, a stripper with a forehead tattoo and leader of SlutWalk. The fundamentalist speaker, who believes people and dinosaurs cohabitated together at Earth’s beginning 5,000 years ago, fell hard for the satanist. Rose proclaimed in her speech that Donald Trump is not a racist, despite his being the chief instigator of the vile smear against Barack Obama that the nation’s first black president was an illegal alien born in Kenya.

Watching Mike Johnson get gooey-eyed was a window into the possibilities of the “unity” Trump promises. Who knew Rocky Balboa’s address to the Soviet people after defeating Ivan Drago would become the template for a kinder Trumpism.

No doubt it was a beautiful moment.

Let’s talk about Donald Trump, America’s apostle of peace, according to many CNN commentators and MAGA pundits.

Is rape a violent act?

I’m asking for E. Jean Carroll and the other women whom he abused.

I’m asking because I don’t really understand how a rapist can be portrayed as a tribune of non-violence, but then again I have a hard time understanding why JD Vance believes abused women should stay in their marriages for the good of the children.

A lot of American women are abused. Every day across America women are beaten, burned, hit, tortured and threatened by physically stronger men. The whole country recently had the opportunity to see the savagery of what it looks like when a man beats a woman when the despicable Sean “Diddy” Comb’s depravities and lies were exposed on surveillance video.

How extreme is JD Vance? He believes America’s women should have zero agency over their reproductive health, and if they are hit, they need to take it and stay in the marriage.

How immoral and violent is Donald Trump? He picked a wife beater to introduce him before his big speech. Violence and fascism fit together like a hand and a glove. When this convention ends, it will have shattered every previous convocation when it comes to counting threats made against the core principles of the United States.

The assassin who tried to kill Trump shared something with him — violence and a hatred for democracy.

There are 112 days until the election, and Donald Trump is winning decisively.  It is painful to watch, but not nearly as terrible as watching the appeasement of the Democratic Party and its incapable leaders fail to deliver a vision of something better than the empty promises of a world-class demagogue and historic liar who has reinvented fascism for the 21st century. 

The most incredible thing to consider in thinking about all of this is that, in all likelihood, thanks to Joe and Jill Biden and a small handful of selfish and self-interested aides, Donald Trump and Peter Thiel’s pet are headed back to the White House.
