Many moons ago, I saw Ted Turner at a restaurant. It was so long ago that most of the people in the restaurant did not know he was there or did not even know who he was. He did have a command presence, though.

In other news, after redistricting, Tennessee’s Congressional districts will be 9-0 MAGA. The Confederacy did not lose that war.

The presidency has become the last refuge of an unemployable, stupid a-hole criminal, a lazy navel-gazing con man, and nobody. Incredible.

Thank you for remembering Turner, who we have been, and who we aspire to be.

I worked at Time Inc when Ted Turner bought CNN. He was a kind, quirky and generous and always himself. WYSIWYG. It was an honor to work under his reign. A class act.

It is truly a new era.

There have always been upper cruster’s in the USA. The difference of then vs. now is their use and projection of wealth.

Many were called and probably were sons-a-bitches. No question. The Rockafellas, The Gettys, The Vanderbilts, Boss Tweed, James Michael Curley, etc, etc. All can be pointed to as no-good-niks. Crooked. Cheats. Thief. You name it.

However, Boss Tweed was responsible for the pedestrian walkway on the Brooklyn bridge. Why? His constituents didn’t own horses ( forget about owning cars back in the day) and had to walk to work in Manhattan. Boss Tweed certainly greased his pockets getting the Brooklyn Bridge built but he did give something back. The Vanderbilts built a university. James Michael Curley found money to built parks and children’s hospitals for the poor as well as taking “ a little something “ for himself.

So, as the old saying goes…….He might be a son-of-a-bitch. But, he’s our son of a bitch.

The Musks, Bezos, Zuckerbergs take everything and give back nothing. They flaunt their wealth and power. They rub the working classes noses in it and sadly the working classes don’t know when they’re being pissed on.

Ted Turner was the last of “ our sons of a bitches “ He gave a billion dollars to the U.N. for crying out loud. Do you think any of our current a-holes with more money than they know what to do with would do that?

I lived most of the 90’s in Papua New Guinea and my only thread to the rest of the world was CNN. I always thank Turner for that and was saddened by its demise as a reliable news network.

Cheeto’s Government Corruption: From Incarceration To Ballrooms To Billionaire Tax Cuts

Investigative reporter Nicholas Valencia (https://bit.ly/4wg4ENB) has done a deep dive into the corruption of the mass incarceration program that the Nazi Republicans have foisted on WE the People A wife likens the treatment of the prisoners as Holocaust victims Is this what WE the People want as taxpayers supporting such corruption before our very own eyes?

The corrupt business of the Nazi Republican deportation program is funded by WE the People About $30 to 40K is spent per bed per month to house 70% of people who have committed no crime The money supports inhumane living conditions with brown smelly drinking water and food that is minimal and at times not consumable The primary players are privately run prison companies CoreCivic and Geo Group who are fleecing us the American taxpayer

This is just as much corruption as the more visible Cheeto ballroom project which wants $1B(yes, that’s a B!) of our tax dollars to build a vanity project after he illegally tore down the East wing of the People’s house Or the massive tax cuts for billionaires while cutting food stamp and health programs Or the uncontested defense contracts given to his son’s companies Or the ballroom contractor gets another contract to do $2M of work determined by the Biden admin now costs $27M

Both Democratic and Nazi Republicans are responsible for this rising and now apical peak in corruption by these private prison companies And now spendthrift Republicans and Cheeto are pushing for more $$ for ICE detention through budget reconciliation Meanwhile this poor management of taxpayer $$ throws the country closer and closer to a debt crisis

Steve Schmidt said that an asteroid is coming for Trump, in the election. Perfect. Trump is a fat, lazy, oblivious dinosaur, gorging himself while the sky gets bright.

Ted Turner was such a great and unique man. I remember seeing him in interviews over the years. No one was like him. He wanted to be known for doing what is important for society and for leaving something meaningful. So different than say for example, the tech bro billionaires who are empty vessels of accumulators.
