Seeing these photos and wishing to honor someone from the past, I would like to honor Freddie Oversteegen. As a young girl in the Netherlands, she was part of the Dutch Resistance to the Nazi Occupation. She dynamited bridges and railroad tracks and smuggled Jewish children out of the country.

She shot her first SS soldier while riding her bicycle and killed many more as the situation warranted. Her bravery knew no bounds and may the world have more Freddies because we need them.

Thank you for this. I was feeling pretty alone and discouraged this morning. The image of a South African Nazi gleefully waving the chainsaw he is taking to my country was pretty soul crushing. But I looked at these photos, had a good cry and resolved to get back in the fight.
