Let's hope the meeting of the Generals and Admirals doesn't result in the declaration of the Insurrection Act, Marshal Law, or some other concocted reason to rule us at the point of a gun while stripping all our rights.

I think Hegseth wants all these top brass to swear allegiance to Donald Trump, and of they refuse, fired.

Steve's avatar

What happens after that is concerning.

John Maton's avatar

It’s all concerning and worrying.

Mary Jo's avatar

Like everything he does and says is concerning. Such an evil POS.

Mayme's avatar

They should just lie and stay on.

He owns the SCOTUS, he owns Congress, will he own the military? Or will these Generals draw a line? Has the last Profile in Courage been written?

Beth Witrogen's avatar

THIS is the question of the moment!! Or three questions, all spot on.

Mary Jo's avatar

My question is "can he own the military?" What recourse do we have if he declares martial law?

While Trump is ordering troops to Portland OR, he's off with his granddaughter to the Ryder Cup.

Some things are just more important to Trump than terrorizing a state that doesn't agree with him very often. Plus, I think it's a Senator from OR that is looking into the "Money" surrounding Epstein.

It's a real mystery as to why Hegseth is summoning all these military personnel in one spot at the same time. In previous lifetimes, the Sect. of State or AG would question such an action. Or at the very least, the Joint Chiefs. But that was a lifetime ago. I predict, it won't be pretty or legal.

The American public can prove to all the CEOs just what we can do when we put our minds or wallets to it. They better be very careful. The holidays are approaching. Let's see what damage we can do to them. I haven't been to a Walmart in decades. I haven't been to a Target in ages.

I'd rather spend more than support these corporations.

Robin Williams was right- members of Congress should wear decals on their suits like race car drivers so we know who owns them.

Mary Maxfield's avatar

Christine, I think you are right about why Trump decided on Portland before Memphis. I think it has to do with Sen Wyden's inquiries into the banking habits of the banks regarding Epstein. Before Memphis, he was going to send troops to Chicago, but that was until Gov Pritzker stood up to him. Like Steve's says, the way to get over a bully is to never take a step back, always step forward and punch him in the face. I still think all these antick with HLS, the military, and state National Guards have to do with distractions away from the big fish, and that is the Epstein saga. The commander in chief is a pedophile, no ifs, ands, or buts. That is why none of these strong-arm tactics will work, after all Hitler was never trying to hide from his base some kind of moral debauchery that would make his base turn on him. All of Trump's antics over the past ten years have to do with hiding from prying eyes that would see how deep a loser he really is.

New Republic Reports Cheeto As Hitler

The New Republic posted an article(https://bit.ly/4nmwxPf) that the MSM(Mainstream Media) failed to report on but should have

It involves Colombian President Gustavo Petro addressing the UN General Assembly(UNGA) and likening the US president Cheeto as an international criminal who is governing his country like Hitler did in the 1930’s Petro signaled to the UNGA that Cheeto’s deadly attacks on boats in the Carribean and his complicity with the Gaza genocide marks him as an international war criminal like Netanyahu And Cheeto’s use of a government Gestapo to round up innocent migrants, destroying the climate change initiatives, taking the power of the purse away from Congress, and his attack on free speech make him a Hitlerian dictator

Time for MSM to wake up and cover the important comments made by world leaders and how they view America and its fascist government

I love "The Schmidt Storm "..

We are seeing more and more abuses and assaults by ICE thugs. This will be the norm because they are giving jobs to paramilitary thugs. It’s the brown people getting assaulted now, but soon it will be all of us who disagree with MAGA.

Anthony j. Santo's avatar

I never thought I would agree with Cruz on anything; but, I agree with and admire his willingness to stand up to Trump on the issue of firing Jimmy Kimmel and free speech. These are, indeed, strange times.

Maybe Lindsey will grow a pair after witnessing what his colleague did. Nah, probably not.

Beth Witrogen's avatar

Nice dreaming Anthony :)

Husaria's avatar

These are indeed strange times when I agree with GOP-ers.

I never thought that I would be agreeing with the Bush's, Cheney's, Romney's, Luttig's, Bowers's or any other GOP-er......... who isn't in the MAGA cult.

Today's weather forecast for hell: Frozen over

It's a very weird time we are living in right now.

Will none of these military leaders stand up to Hegseth? Would they really fire everyone ... (yes of course ...) ... there aren't enough Fox news hosts to fill the ranks. I'm not being clever, I'm saying ... OK I'm trying to be logical in an insane asylum, but I do agree with other comments they want oaths of loyalty to das fuhrer2.0 -- would there be no mutiny?

Beth Witrogen's avatar

Yes EXACTLY!!! Are they really brave enough? Or false bravado?

How certain are we that Comey won't be found guilty? There are enough shill judges in the system now to find one who will put their thumb on the scale. For example, having a Trump Loyalty Test to get on the jury. There really is very little to hang our hats on. Even if he gets an actual law-abiding judge, prosecution could try for a venue change, or have that judge removed.

And btw I'm no fan of Comey. No matter his platitudes, and victimization he may now be enduring, neither I nor history will forgive him for his role in ushering in this era to begin with. Of course he also had the right to be an idiot without being indicted. Basically I see him as a naive Cub Scout who had no idea what he was playing around with in 2016. He found out pretty quick in 2017 but it was too late.

Tracey Queripel's avatar

It matters little whether Comey is convicted. Even if he’s acquitted, it will have cost him and his family tons and tons of money and time and stress. Just the fact that he is being persecuted is meant to send the message to everyone else that if we don’t bend the knee, we will suffer.

Michael Duke's avatar

NOW this is a great point. THIS is a charity that I absolutely would contribute to. Some legal defense fund for these civil service and indigent types who get caught in this tactic. Surely one of the billionaires on the constitution side of this could pony up. And I would also throw in. Comey himself probably knows some lawyers who can help him for a reasonable fee or pro bono. He used to be a big deal, you know. Maybe not, then we'll assist him too. Even though he's still an idiot.

Mary Jo's avatar

I still think that what trump is doing is wrong, wrong, wrong!

Beth Witrogen's avatar

Michael agree, Comey's last minute business with Hillary cost us this regime imho. It was indeed too late for his awakening.

And there are more dominoes in the wings.

Tracey Queripel's avatar

Back in 2016, Comey certainly didn’t help, but the damage he did was just a little extra insurance. That election was already rigged via the suppression of the Stormy Daniels story, and very likely also by other means. The moment cheetopedo announced that the only way Hillary could win was by cheating, I knew it was all over. If I recall correctly, that was a bit before Comey pulled his little stunt. In any event, it was far enough ahead of the election that the projection was written in glowing neon.

Face it, folks: agent Krasnov was successful in 2 of his 3 attempts to steal elections.

Beth Witrogen's avatar

I think you remember correctly Tracey. I could have researched it but ... where is the spine of this nation?

Bob Seemueller's avatar

James Comey's trial will be before Judge Michael Nuchmanoff a Biden appointee. James Comey has one of the best seasoned attorney's to go after a 34 year old failed beauty contestant.

Lorrie133's avatar

I asked my relative, former Marine/CIA, about why Hegseth would gather the Generals. He said “ push-up contest.”😂

Husaria's avatar

The drinking game " quarters " perhaps? Bottoms up!

Valerie Hodgson's avatar

I've read that the military has the right to refuse an illegal order. Is this something that comes down through the ranks from on high? Is "on high" out of the control of the military? Who would be the one to make that decision? Just wondering about all this before people in Portland start getting gunned down.

Valerie Hodgson's avatar

Oh, and is it legal to ask military brass to sign a pledge of fealty to the trump regime?

JMcKay's avatar

This is not going to be a drill - think about the 218th vote to take a public vote on releasing the Epstein files - unless you declare martial law and are not tied to the constitution - in order to be a dictator you have to have the military - what happens if the military refuses?

Robbie Roberts's avatar

Military full force to Portland? Generals’ meeting will have something to do with that or with Venezuela invasion

Beth Witrogen's avatar

I still think cheetopedo would start a nuclear war. with whom I don't know, maybe us Democrats. We would all be moved to one side of the country to separate us from maga. oh no, wait ... he'd just kill us all, let god sort it out (if you recall the 80s T-shirt from special forces)

Tracey Queripel's avatar

Love “cheetopedo” and have already plagiarized it!

Beth Witrogen's avatar

Tracey it's my gift to the world lol -- run with it!

Mary Jo's avatar

I'm hoping our military leaders, even the ones who are fired or retired would come together to organize the military forces and the national guard and local police to fight back against Trump's new ICE army to protect us while we protest and fight back. I think we've reached the end of our rope. Patience has run out. We are mad as hell and we aren't going to take it anymore!!!

I think he’s called them all to meet because he can. He’s a little boy playing soldier and this makes him feel important. I think it will be a colossal waste of time and money.
