"We must learn to live as brothers or we will perish together as fools." —Dr. Martin Luther King Jr."
The people caught up in the web of far-right religio-political movements must begin to understand that their lot is tied into the well-being of billions of individuals around the globe who share their goals, needs, and desires. Ordinary people across the globe must join together and work toward the only thing that gives true meaning to our lives and that is the creation of a caring world-wide political and economic system that enables all to live in dignity and comfort, respecting the environment and other species.
We need also to recognize that our lives are temporal. Our individual lives end. However, life continues. While we are alive, we are real and what we do has consequences beyond our temporal boundaries. Being a good person and leading a life that is meaningful and satisfying can only be achieved by knowing that helping and caring for each other is the same as helping and caring for ourselves. Our lives exist in the present but how we live them affects the future of all life. Stop striving for the impossible and just do the right thing.
I was moved by this performance on so many levels.
Bad Bunny handed a Grammy to a child America caged, while Trump, mentioned 38,000 times in Epstein files, claimed Spanish endangered children.
The halftime show's message was simple: human dignity exists. That it enraged power tells you everything about what threatens them. Not celebrity incoherence or manufactured outrage, but love performed in a language millions of American children speak at home.
The contrast couldn't be starker: artistry asserting belonging versus cruelty teaching shame.
Of course the Bad Bunny Super Bowl Show was phenomenal, in concept, content, and performance. Just a note on the latter. As a long-time-ago stage performer (in more than half of the Gilbert and Sullivan operettas) I could not stop thinking about the extraordinary amount of rehearsal time that must have been required to mount that incredible, live, production.
I'm glad Bad Bunny shook trump up. I wish it had done more. Quite obviously he watched it. His fanatical scream about all thise flags truly shows his stupidity and willful ignorance. BB celebrated all of America. There is more than just the US. We are a small part. Great point by BB. It also shows the depraved soul who cannot handle joy and love in the moment. It was a powerful message of love.
I guess it's been pointed out by now, but that little boy wasn't Liam Ramos, despite social media assumptions to the contrary. Liam Ramos's family's asylum case has been fast-tracked for review by the government, though, so they need public support.
Third reprise of what I have experienced to be the truth - I never experienced a fire that was put out by introducing more fire. Hate is the vomit of Paranoia, paranoia the indigestion of Fear. Fear is the great equalizer, it reduces every human being to Indifference. Those without the inner/outer strength/gift of what we call 'love' are doomed to devour themselves and many others with their indifference. We might then ask, what is love, and where does it come from and/or where does it go? Wrong question. Love just is. In Japanese, Ki is the sound made to express universal life force energy. That Energy is very, very, very big. Broad, Vast, Lightning fast but painfully Slow, it might seem. But love is not here or there, it is everywhere, the energy that binds reality together. Affinity, not repulsion. Acceptance, not rejection. Inclusion, not isolation, balance, not singularity. We could express the energy of it in many ways, using many words, sounds, expressions, actions. But it never varies. We cannot possess it. It must pass through us, constantly, and be shared again and again. To block the flow of Ki is to invite illness, sickness, pain, injury, turmoil, and, Yes, Hatred. We will not vanquish Hate with more Hate. Like alkali with acid, love neutralizes hate. The result is calm, peace, quiet, that great emptiness that gushes with fullness. Now we must defend love, with as much as our personal life, if needed. If we could ask Renee Good or Alex Petrii about this, being a Buddhist I know what they would say - Life is impermanent, but also everlasting, as long as we do not cling too savagely to it. Love not only requires agency, it is agency. Use it and be used by it.
I wish Media would refrain from amplifying the disgusting, retro-racist words and abominable videos of our Has Been in-chief. We are already marinating in the putrid waters of his evil unrestrained expressions. Can we turn away for a moment?
Agree. Four out of four headlines I read today were about how Trump hated BB's performance. Why weren't the headlines about Bad Bunny's phenomenal show? I, for one, already have a good idea about Trump's reaction to anything and I really don't care. Do you?
Sure. But just for a moment, because the $hit$how is still going on back there in MAGA Cloud Cuckoo Land. It's a long way from being over, let alone even slowing down. Take the good, but don't forget the bad is not defeated yet. It's going to get worse before it gets better so gird your loins for the fight ahead.
Mike, exactly. I did not mean we should ignore or turn away from the very real damage being done every moment, to our country, to our democracy and to real human beings. My thought was to focus on the profound meaning and content of Bad Bunny's show. We had the example of a huge public figure, pushing back with powerful art--maybe even a teaching for us on what resistance could look like. It was dispiriting to see the president’s banalities quoted over and over again.
Hating such a moving tribute to a vibrant culture of AMERICAN CITIZENS says it all about the current mindset of looking at beautiful neighborhoods of "others" throughout our country as a threat -- all to match Trumps's/MAGA's/Fox's twisted version of the real America. Hopefully the thousands of beautiful culture pockets in America in ALL STATES will be inspired to rise up and be PROUD --- THEN take some of their citizen power back in November -- never been better chance!
The halftime show was a timely and powerful message. The images spoke for themselves even though many could not understand the words. A masterful piece of art. Although comparisons may fall short, artists who have depicted the beauty of diversified cultures have a lasting impact. Of course, the hatred of anything not confederate will persist but the display should brightly illuminate the evil that is Trump. The world sees him as such even though the grievance and anger of millions of confederate magas persists. Let us hope that last week delivered enough messages to break through to some at the margin to show them that love is stronger than hate.
These children. I can see a future when their trauma and fear has had time to fester into hate and anger. We are creating a generation of enemies, when we should be setting an example for love, kindness, support and generosity. DJT is everything you so eloquently describe.
Yes, there are still miles to go. At this point, Trump's posts and his antics don't even rise to the point of provocation for me. He's just nothing. These days, I keep my eyes on the appeasers: Blanche, Thune, Graham, Besos, Leavitt, Bondi, Grassley, and more. As with Trump, their day of reckoning will come.
Just listened to this episode of the Daily Beast. Now I am looking forward to your ad campaign. I was born and raised in the US and moved to Canada when Regan was elected. I hold dual citizenship and vote in both countries. Re the despicable US ambassador to Canada who has made several insulting and aggressive statements regarding Canada. His family and home town in the Netherlands were liberated from the Nazis in the last weeks of WWII by the 2nd Canadian division. Some respect would be in order.
Among the most powerful words ever spoken, by one of the best men who ever lived:
"Darkness cannot drive out darkness.
Only light can do that.
Hate cannot drive out hate.
Only love can do that.
We must learn to live as brothers or we will perish together as fools." —Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Yes, I’ve made that edit.
Thanks.
It wasn’t Liam Ramos, rather a boy who was chosen to resemble Bad Bunny as a child, representing the possibility of success for a poor child
Thanks — I’ve made that edit.
Steve
Suddenly he’s worried about “young children”? 🤣🤣🤣

The Puppy Bowl had more viewers than Skid Rock!
Trump watched Bad Bunny, along with 135 million viewers. Kid Rock flop drew 5 million tone-deaf anti-democracy MAGA fake Christians. 😎🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
