I will add Senator Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee to the Rogue’s Gallery. She opposed reauthorizing the federal Violence Against Women Act. She opposed it because it was extended to protect gay women.
Sadly, she was re-elected last year with a majority of the male and female vote in Tennessee. Our terrible straits are due to the voters calling themselves good Americans.
I believe the historical expression is "rode hard and put away wet," which of course refers to abusing/mistreating a horse. It's an expression I first heard as a young adult, understanding it was straight out of western cowboy culture, but I learned it listening to men talk about women who were less than beautiful, who wore the evidence of being treated badly. I'm not sure it is an apt reference to the likes of the MAGA Congresswomen being discussed, but for sure they have a right to feel "used up" by their male counterparts. They have not become better or smarter people for having come to their senses about the world where they thought they belonged and would be treated as equals. They are at once chastened and furious, discovering that they were never an exception from the prevailing male MAGA "women have spaghetti for brains" sexist ethos. Who among us, on the outside looking in on the MAGA world, ever doubted that it has always been, and will remain, fundamentally a male-dominated world in which women are second-class citizens who are expected to know their place and purpose -- to be glamorous, or at least well turned-out, and to serve men -- the more powerful the better?

I am a 72 year old West Texan boy, once upon a time, and sadly you nailed the correct “ridden hard and put up wet” phrase I heard way too much in the old days. At least being so crude in that way has became less prevalent, at least until MAGA and Trump came into prominence. Now, anything goes.
But Steve is 100% right too in using the phrase “used up.” That is exactly what these pseudo macho, arrogant, dominating men like Trump, Hegseth, Johnson and all the rest think of women. And MAGA women, and their cousins all the evangelical “complementarian” women, are so naive, foolish and wrong to not see that. You are an object and a tool to these men. In writing “used up” Steve reminded me of a true story in which I played a small part 30+ years ago. Kenneth McDuff was a quite infamous Texas serial killer of the 1960’s and then again in the 80’s when he was paroled! Go read about him if you can stomach it. He stated to his friends and accomplices that he “used her up” in describing the rape and murder of young women, and specifically in his murder of Colleen Reed in Austin in the late 1980’s. This monster illustrates to me the final and extreme manifestation of the rampant and blatant misogyny we see celebrated now.
I was a probate lawyer, and I represented Colleen’s sister in the administration of her estate maybe five or so years later. We had to prove she was deceased of course, and with no body recovered that is not easy. Her body was only discovered years later when McDuff took authorities to the Spot he buried her right before he was executed. I am actually an absolute opponent of the death penalty, for many reasons, but McDuff truly was evil. I sat through part of his trial for her murder around the same time we were working on her probate estate. I sat 6 feet away from him for a full trial day……
I also had ANOTHER tangential connection to McDuff. The first time he was in prison for rape and murder his sister was a school teacher in a small central Texas town in the 1970’s. She worked for my father in law who was the school superintendent in Rogers, Texas. McDuff grew up in Rosebud about 30 miles away.
Sorry for the long post, but that phrase “used up” triggered me as you can see. Our country is SO messed up right now, I am still in shock at the total capitulation of all our institutions to perversity, cruelty, criminality and evil.
Finally, MAGA females see what the future hold for them and their daughters. Forced pregnancy, "Quiet! Quiet, Piggy," no education needed to have sex on demand, birth babies, care for the family-cook, clean, shop for food, care for children, nurse every ailment, be a driver of all etc. If you have no life of your own, no education is needed and that makes females to smart and dangerous to males. Females with brains don't want any part of MAGA males which is why they are so angry and vengeful. Cavemen with clubs is the way they appear to me. I cannot be alone in my opinions.

While I've not had any contact with my sister since she went foaming-at-the-mouth MAGA at our last visit, I just might send this to her to brighten her day.

Thank you for speaking up for women—whether they’ve brought this on themselves or not, the ethos of MAGA is to demean women (especially reporters!) at every possible moment, and YOU are the first male of note that I’ve seen speak up for us!! When is the press pool going to stand up to trump when he insults yet another female reporter? Silence is complicit and all the GOP, male and female, enable this demonization of women!
