While we’re on the cusp of catastrophe, I would like to thank Kentucky for giving us 40 years of Mitch McConnell. What did we get from that? It was always power over honor and party over country.

Donna K. White's avatar

May he NEVER rest in peace!

D stile my idea of punishing red states with withdrawal of aid....Kentucky is one that'd get NO aid for 2 years. Other states that are 'taker' states will be next.

John D.'s avatar

I am tired of the politicos in states like Alabama mocking California or New Jersey. If it were not for California, New Jersey, and other blue states, these red states would be in a sea of red ink, no pun intended. Need to get these slack ass states off our payroll.

Carol Gamm's avatar

Tired of being a blue state cash machine for states that say that they hate government spending but vacuum up every dollar they can get.

John D.'s avatar

Exactly. Mississippi is at the top, or close to it, for receiving Federal Aid. But year in and year out, more pregnant women and babies die in that state due to poor medical care than any other state. Where is the money going and why are the politicians there so eager to send National Guard troops to states that do not want or need them.

The zone is so flooded with shit that it's hard to keep track of it all. Luckily, I have a lot of time on my hands right now so I kill two birds with one stone. I keep track of it all while I get to know the ropes of the new(to me) media ecosystem. I have to restrain myself from gathering too many paid subscriptions but, right now, I'm in a good place with legit creators like Steve.

MarciaMarciaMarcia's avatar

Agree! I have found 3 or 4 journalists/orators who I try not to miss. I have lots of unexpected unplanned time on my hands also and have learned so much from people like Steve, Dean Blundell and a few others. They are so knowledgeable and inspiring and get in some good laughs we all need as well.

Thomas Locatell's avatar

Hi MarciaMarciaMarcia Blundell, free, check, Steve, check, three others, I think, that are small fry, whole bunch of free subscriptions, can't catch 'em all.

I dropped a few that I paid for last year because I went a little wild! There is one guy I follow strictly because I love his writing. I don’t think he does any Substack lives, but his name is Jeff Tiedrich and his writing is just so good. Will see ya at another Steve or Dean live.

Sandra Tuttle's avatar

Ditto on Jeff Tiedrich. I followed him on Twitter b4 following him on Substack.

I relate to both posts you and Thomas made. Thought Id share some favs you may like. Shankar Narayan (The Concis), Christopher Armitage (the Existentialist Republic), and Zev Shalev (Narativ). 😁

MarciaMarciaMarcia's avatar

Thanks for the shares. I do follow Zev mostly when he’s with Dean. I like him a lot.

Thomas Locatell's avatar

I think I have four paid, one is kind of a dud. I'm learning.

Love the Stan Freberg reference (“Marcia Marcia Marcia”) though I doubt anyone under the age of 70 will get it!

yes Thomas there are SOOO many talented journalist Podcaster you could spend 20 hours a day watching content. Pick a few you really enjoy.

Good advice Declan, I'm narrowing down the field. In about a month I won't have as much time but this has been worthwhile, thank you.

As an ex-Jarhead (RVN) the Marines he intends to deploy to Kargh island will suffer and that makes me angry to the core. Sacrificing Marines for this piss ant should be an affront to everyone. And while I'm at it, hegseth is a cosplaying killer, a performance addict. Enough of this throwing young men and women into harms way. This posturing is dangerous. Enough is enough.

Declan's avatar

When the regime ends...they will ALL be brought to justice. And she is a BITCH

Martha Jones Eberle's avatar

yes, hegseth needs to go, and be charged and prosecuted for using the military recklessly. In "68, my Marine helicopter pilot was in Vietnam, picking up men from the ground, shot down once, that I know of. Following our gov't's orders, but we were changed by that.

THE PERFORMANCE IN FRONT OF THE JAPANESE PRIME MINISTER WAS SHAMEFUL, EMBARRASSING AND UNDIPLOMATIC. DJ TRUMP REPEATEDLY SHOWN THE UNITED STATES AND THE WORLD THAT HE HAS NO COUTH. 😳😨😱

Donna K. White's avatar

I feel so sorry for the leaders of countries, who have to listen to what frump rambles about. Oh, the stories that they will take home with them! I am also glad that our NATO allies have flipped him off-saying it's your war idiot! Too bad we all have to suffer his childish behavior, and stupid policies! Frump and Pete H. deserve each other, they are two peas in a pod! And now, we will also have Mullin, who will be head of Homeland Security-what a joke! It is like replacing the leader of Iran with his son! It will only make things worse!

CH's avatar

You are spot on. He will sacrifice our military and attempt to take over a damaged or destroyed facility that takes very different skill sets vs Marines….

Get your radiation gear and supplies now….

When, if ever, will military command officers begin to refuse Trump's unconstitutional and illegal orders? Is it possible the troops they command will begin to refuse to sacrifice their lives to Trump's insane vanity? Douglas Kelley, the psychiatrist who examined the Nuremberg defendants, was deeply troubled by the problem of where to draw the line in the military hierarchy as to who should be considered war criminals. The problem has remained relevant in the decades following WWII.

Husaria's avatar

We know where the number one war criminal lives currently. 1600 Penn. Ave.

He used to be just a regular criminal and sex offender. He has upped his game to killing and making people suffer.

He’s a fucking disgrace.

I heard an analyst on Substack say the fire to target timeline for a missile from an Iranian installation to Kharg Island is less than 2 minutes. Two minutes! If this is true and Marines are deployed there, it will be a level of killing of US forces in line with D-Day, comparatively speaking. And for what purpose? A cadre of lunatics’ egos?

I recently posted a review of major wars in Europe and North America over the last 1000 years or so. https://www.opednews.com/populum/page.php?f=Causes-of-War-Historical-America_Attack-On-Iran_Donald-Trump-Versus-The-Constitution_European-History-260320-175.html. Only two of them were the result of surprise attacks, and both of those were undertaken while negotiation were going on, Pearl Harbor and Iran. Some company Trump is keeping, and by that totally horrible remark, he is proud that he is in that company. All of the others were declared or fully expected, as on troops lining up on respective battlefields, or ships moving through the ocean.

Arugula's avatar

He knows, doesn’t he, that notwithstanding the surprise attack, Japan lost the war? Or maybe he doesn’t know.

Steve, I listened to Malcolm Nance describe the Iranian defenses in the mountains above the Straits of Hormuz and Kharg Island! They include robotic sea drones, submarines , and mobile rocket launchers that fire missiles from 300 kilometers away and hit ships in the Persian Gulf!!! What a fricking mess!!!

Trump is an 80 year old dying man, deep in dementia, grabbing all he can and desperate to stay in power. He has one chance: ruin the fall election. We all should spend less time complaining about Trump. We must do all we can to thwart his ambitions. That begins by focussing on the motives and actions of Republicans in the House and Senate. They must be convinced they will be held accountable for supporting the dictates and whims of Trump. They are the enablers of his madness; they have the power and responsibility to end his disastrous reign immediately. They must be compelled to act on behalf of the future of the country.

SO looking forward to joining my friends ... and make new friends, on Sat, 28th, when we meet at 1300 at Auditorium Shores, Austin, TX, for the 3rd No Kings rallies across the United States. Usually we rally at the Capitol, but they might be fearing added police presence for the extremely large crowd ... though, as the Live Music Capital of the World, ... we are always musical, peaceful, smiling, acting on our U.S. right to assemble and protest. Wonder what lies trump will invent for this day?!!!!!

I've been staying off TV, away from trump's ugly face and voice, but for the Japanese PM's visit, I was listening, and I heard trump say that about Pearl Harbor -- SHOCKED, doesn't begin to describe how I felt -- humiliated, embarrassed, shamed, ANGRY, because, tho he doesn't realize it because he doesn't understand Service, he was talking personally about HIS war, but IN OUR NAME, THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES! We've run out of adjectives to describe this amoral, immoral BOY. We'll get him out, but if he "is allowed by fawning mike johnson" to go ahead with military on the ground in Iran, ... we will have many casualties and many dead Iranians, many innocents. So see ya in a week -- if I can do it with a cane, you can do it!

We cannot sustain the daily "flooding the zone" catastrophes until January 2029. Most days there's more plunder of human rights, public lands, resources, plus torment, mistreatment and killing people Trump throws away. When coups are staged in other countries to overcome dictators, there are a few scenarios of which I'm aware. We require an exit plan. The climate crisis alone is worsened with Trump's lunacy and gifts to his polluting and rapacious donors. I hope we can rescue ourselves because I don't see that he'll allow midterm elections.

I just read that an international org has officially declared America a dictatorship....

There are two ways of personally dealing with our national catastrophe: the glass 1/2 full and 1/2 empty. Both are true. The empty part of our glass is that the demonic Epstein class through the craven, greedy, unscrupulous grifters and rapers of our natural resources and funds, they have spewed amorality, anti-empathy, xenophobic, misogynistic, rapist frequencies across media that sicken those of us still possessing a moral core. They should all have hidden under social rocks to be spat upon when emerging. Their pretenses of intellect, visionary status, billionaire capitalist fever dreams, have warped our society and our entire government. But the 1/2 full is that we will soon reach a point where this sickness will hit 75% of us (MAGA cult excluded) and we shall rise up and throw them out the way Satan was expelled from heaven, if you hold that belief. We can then cleanse our society and scurry these nightmarish creatures into prisons or back under the rocks, or private tunnels or islands, from which they emerged.

Trump has moved far beyond being a national embarrassment in this, his second time in office. He is openly degenerate and seems to be reveling in his own ignorance, arrogance, greed, and stupidity. Surely, surely it's time for his Karma to put in an appearance. I'd be happy to make suggestions as to what form that cosmic justice should take.
