MAGA and Trump would not be a threat to the American republic if not for cowardice, so sometimes I get lost when trying to rank my detestations. What should I loathe more: the malice, fascism and violence of Trump, or the cowardice and cynicism that abetted its rise?
Knowing Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis were going to commit personal acts of humiliation and debasement on national TV didn’t quite prepare me for the disgustingness of the act. It was simultaneously sordid, performative, soulless, tragic, comic and surreal. There sat Trump with a satisfied smirk, knowing he didn’t just beat them, but was able to take their dignity and require their humiliation on national television. They did it, but for what?
I want you to think about something. Did you watch the video of Sean “Diddy” Combs beating his girlfriend? Can you imagine how hard a 6-foot, 230-pound man could hit a 5’2 inch, 130-pound woman? How far he could throw her? How hard he could smash her through a glass table? Tragically, this happens all over America every day, and JD Vance believes that the beaten and tortured women should stay married for the good of the family. He believes the state should have the power to mandate that a woman carry her rapist’s child. He believes the government should make a 12-year-old made pregnant by her father deliver his baby. Extreme doesn’t begin to describe it.

I have written a great deal about how the Nazis came to power. I have written about what they did, and how it happened over and over again. The simple answer is with cynicism, ruthlessness, lies and the help of weakness, cowardice and corruption.

They came to power because of men like JD Vance, who has signed up for service with the man he compared — not me — to the most evil person in history. It isn’t shocking, which is what makes it so dangerous. It is as if we have decided to jump in the pot as a nation and boil ourselves alive, while maintaining collective indifference and delusion about the rising temperatures.
JD Vance said he doesn’t care about what happens to Ukraine.
He doesn’t care about the rapes of thousands of grandmothers, mothers and girls. He doesn’t care about the war crimes and kidnapping of thousands of children. He doesn’t care about naked aggression by a dictator in the largest country in Europe at the end of the long lifespans of the generation that saved the world from tyranny, but you should — and everyone should.
JD Vance was involved in a fraudulent opioid charity, and has said we need a Caesar in America.
There has long been a lack of imagination on the part of many Trump opponents about conjuring an image of what could be worse than the orange-tinted hustler. Tonight, they will get a preview with a fascist who is smarter, smoother and more disciplined.
Have no doubt that the conversations have already started in the MAGA fever swamps about the 2028 ticket of Vance-Trump Jr. The Donald has a dauphin. He’s a hillbilly hustler and former pet of Peter Thiel, who has the same lack of shame and conscience that Trump does.

Is it me, or does Vance remind you of Damien Thorn from The Omen? He even looks like the kid.
Vance is so mendacious, and evil to the core, that even Satan himself would have seriously misgivings trying to buy his soul. Although, it’s possible, Vance doesn’t have one…:)
