Donald Trump is panicking, and his team is melting down. Stephen Miller looked like he was careening towards an aneurysm on Fox News, but no matter the screams, nonsense and crying, the simple truth is that Trump is on track to lose for the first time in a long time.
The Democratic Party has coalesced around Kamala Harris, and the energy is real, authentic and powerful. The torch has been passed to a new generation — my generation — and I am one of the millions of Americans who is suddenly energized about winning, as opposed to feeling dread about losing. Trump may yet win, but it won’t be through appeasement and delusion by his opponents. The American people are going to send that old man packing, back to Mar-a-Lago, where he can enthrall his cultists on the patio as he acts as DJ.
Kamala Harris has taken command of the Democratic Party, turned it around, and put the ship back into the fight. The metrics are astounding:
Her team raised more than $81 million in the 24-hour period following President Biden’s announcement.
Win with Black Women and Win with Black Men organized sessions to mobilize support for Harris, which attracted tens of thousands of callers. The women’s group raised more than $1.5 million, while the men’s raised $1.3 million.
The polling margin between Harris and Trump is very thin, and the vice president is gaining ground.
An NPR/PBS/Marist poll shows Trump ahead of Harris by just one point, though that is within the survey's margin of error of 3.5 percentage points. The poll surveyed 1,117 registered voters on July 22, a day after Biden dropped out of the race.
The screams from the MAGA fascists are ear-splitting. Here is a small sample:
In a Truth Social post, attacking Fox News, Trump said, “Wow, just watching the Fake News, and they’re doing their very best to turn the Worst President in the History of our Country into a “Brilliant and Heroic Leader” (He was heroic because he quit!), and to turn “Dumb as a Rock” Kamala Harris from a totally failed and insignificant Vice President into a future “Great” President. No, it just doesn’t work that way!”
At a rally, JD Vance said, “Democrats say that it is racist to believe … well, they say it’s racist to do anything. I had a Diet Mountain Dew yesterday and one today, and I’m sure they’re going to call that racist too.
In an interview with CNN’s Manu Raju, Congressman Tim Burchett said: “Biden said, first off, he said he’s going to hire a black female for vice president and that not… Just skipped over. What about what about white females? What about any other group? It’s just when you go down that route, if you take mediocrity and that’s what they have right now as a vice president.” Raju then asked, “Are you suggesting she was a DEI hire?” to which Burchett responded, “One hundred percent, she was a DEI hire. He said he was going to hire… And then and she didn’t… Her record is abysmal at best.”
You’ve heard of the ‘Sounds of Silence?’ Those quotes are the sounds of winning, and it sounds nice. Donald Trump is going to be one of the very few people in American history to lose the popular vote three times and the electoral vote twice. There will never be a Presidential Library, and 20 years from now, everyone who is still alive and had a bandage glued to the side of their heads while staring gooey-eyed at the insane person rambling on the RNC dias is going to deny ever having heard the name Donald Trump.
Winston Churchill once observed that Americans always do the right thing after exhausting all of the other alternatives. He had us pegged perfectly.
Let the prosecution begin.
Kamala Harris has been anointed by history’s call. A Black woman will be an American president. Wow. What a country. What a time to be alive.
Do not be afraid. We are Americans.
Wow, an uplifting message from Steve. I’m impressed. I think as much as Kamala and the Democrats need to tell us their vision for America, they need to call out the craziness of trump and his acolytes. Their views are anti American, anti Democratic. We need to keep reminding every one of this.
The title is so true despite the fact that the NYTimes is trying in its sometimes sneaky biased way to rain on our parade. So glad this despicable paper doesn’t darken my doorstep anymore. Thank goodness my money goes to substacks now as several are guiding us to ways to help and stay engaged as much as we can and choose. At 77 I couldn’t be more excited and am already donating, calling, post carding. My children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends future depends on our involvement. Thank you for always staying on top of this. Go Kamala!
