“Where does the water go?” was the question my daughter asked me as we were standing beside a beautifully flowing river in Montana. I told her the river flows to the ocean. It is the same with fascists, Nazis and other extremists who cannot hide their malice and hatred towards specific groups of people. They cannot conceal their venomous animosity towards women, Jews, Blacks and other minorities. In the end, every word, action, incitement and act of violence finds its way towards the same scapegoats. The hatred isn’t ephemeral or abstract. It is targeted, boiling, strategic and political. It is attached to an ambition to write the future. They seek to obtain political power from which justice can be dispensed towards the greatest threat to civilization — which is always some combination of Blacks, Jews and women.
The march in Charlottesville was a Nazi rally. The young men marching were uniformed storm troopers marching in a political movement. They killed. They chanted “Jews will not replace us.” I’ve written extensively about where this leads.
Among them was a 24-year-old Nazi named Nick Fuentes. He is an overt antisemite and racist who leads an extremist cult that describes itself as the “Groyper Army.” The Groypers believe that it is necessary to preserve white, European-American identity and culture. He seeks to create a white nationalist alternative to the “mainstream” GOP.
Nick Fuentes dined with the 45th president of the United States and the mentally unstable antisemite Kanye West. Fuentes is a Holocaust denier, who incited violence on the steps of the Capitol on January 6.
Last week, Fuentes praised Hitler, saying that he was “really fucking cool.”
Earlier this week, Fuentes was reinstated on Twitter by Elon Musk, and then yesterday, was banned again after he appeared in a Twitter Space and said, “Don’t care, bitch. Jews run the news, bitch. Sup ... Jews run the media. Back on Twitter, let’s fucking go.”
Andrew Anglin, another prominent Nazi, the founder of the neo-Nazi Daily Stormer website, which takes its name from the gutter Nazi propaganda sheet known as ‘Der Stürmer,’ was also reinstated. ‘Der Stürmer’ was founded and published by Julius Streicher. He was hanged at Nuremberg Prison on October 16, 1946, found guilty of crimes against humanity.
The reinstatements by the erratic and emotional Elon Musk are another disgrace on a ledger that seems to be building as quickly as his companies are crashing.
Marjorie Taylor Greene, the frontrunner to be Trump’s 2024 vice president, is just one of the members of Congress who spoke at a February 2022 gathering hosted by America First Political Action Conference, led by Fuentes, and filled with Nazis. After days of silence, Kevin McCarthy told CNN that their participation was “unacceptable,” and said, “The party should not be associated, any time, any place, with somebody who is antisemitic.”
Let’s apply the Speaker In Name Only’s test on himself. Marjorie Taylor Greene is his chief lieutenant. Marjorie Taylor Greene made antisemitic comments and appeared on a stage with Nazis. He has leashed himself to her, which makes him an appeaser, a hypocrite, a liar or a vapid bundle of all three.
There are two exceptional pieces of journalism that I would encourage you to read. Both are from Mother Jones and they should terrify you. The journalists who wrote these pieces are adding another chapter into the volume that is accumulating in real time and in plain sight on this growing movement.
It Came from the Basement by Ali Breland
Hate Leader Nick Fuentes Is Recruiting Incels by Kristen Doerer
This movement will merge with the ambitions of General Michael Flynn and his extremely dangerous Christian fundamentalism movement that is recruiting and training for civil war. I wrote about this a few months ago:
The extremist movement is emboldened because it has been accepted as part of a mainstream political coalition. Despite McCarthy’s claims that his party should not be associated with anyone who is antisemitic, he has allowed the extremists through the door to the cockpit of the Republican Party. The Republican Party as an institution is controlled lock, stock and barrel by political extremists among whose numbers include insurrectionists, antisemites and Nazis. This proves, yet again, the wisdom of John Kennedy that “those who foolishly sought power by riding the back of the tiger ended up inside.”
Why do you think the national media ignores this story? Do you think Fuentes is a danger? Is he a domestic enemy? Is he influential? Does he scare you? Do you know what your (grand)kids are listening to? Did you know Nick Fuentes has Nazi groups on more than 35 campuses? Do you know what the young men around you believe?
It’s important to know because Nick Fuentes is organizing, recruiting and training. He has poisoned thousands of young men turning their promise into ‘loserdom.’ All extremists are dangerous. Extremist movements always turn violent. Nazism is an inherently violent philosophy.
Afraid, yes. For this country and the non-existence of the rule of law. Insurrectionist who are re-seated in congress. Nothing, not a peep from DOJ, not an interview, none of them questioned. Raised multi-thousands to campaign, no one knocked on their doors and said”where were you when”?
Michael Flynn still collecting his retired General’s salary, preparing for war, spreading conspiracy theories. Nothing from DOJ. Fuentes proudly and loudly praising Hitler. Nothing from DOJ.
Elon Musk is our arbiter of moral acceptance. Think about that.
We are in serious trouble. More insurrection is occurring- and nothing from the place, the would be regulator- the would be hero of this story, this country, this democracy- the ever so silent DOJ. Urging us to believe they’re at work. Ha.
Yes, afraid.
One of my favorite movies is Hitchcock’s “Spellbound.” It is an homage to psychoanalysis. Ingrid Bergman’s character is a psychiatrist whose mentor (a thinly veiled Freud) tells her, “you keep bumping your head against reality and saying it isn’t there.” That statement encapsulates the GOP, the media, & the DOJ. It is all too easy to live in an alternate reality when the consequences are rewarding. We are in dangerous times indeed. Sociopathy is the underlying psychology behind the growing extremist movement. Too few are ringing the alarm. Thank you, Steve, for being one of the few.
