The choice at hand is existential
Election Day is almost here. There are three weeks, 21 days, or 504 hours left until the American people make a monumental decision about who will become the 47th president of the United States.
The choice at hand is existential. Liberty in the United States is at stake because there is a political movement called MAGA, led by Donald Trump, which is hostile towards three bedrock pillars of American society:
Freedom of speech
Freedom of religion
Freedom of assembly
MAGA does not tolerate dissent, but does tolerate violence. Intimations towards violence are omnipresent at a MAGA rally, where three threats are routinely made:
Opposition to Trump is evil, sick and depraved. It will be punished, prosecuted and avenged. The power of the federal government will be used to squash dissent, punish dissenters, and define what is true or false, and what is real or not.
The US military will be deployed against the American people to protect freedom from the “enemy within.”
There will be vast networks of deportation camps spread across America where tens of millions of people will be imprisoned.
Over the last 10 years, Donald Trump’s MAGA movement has become overtly fascist and perfectly clear about its intentions. More than anything else, it is a movement that is utterly hostile to the concept of personal choice and individual freedom. Within MAGA, the person has no agency. They are cogs in a machine that supports one cause: Trump.
His movement is a cult of personality, and it is sustained by a political party that surrendered every known principle to join a conspiracy for maintaining power — no matter the wishes of the American people. The core interest of MAGA is Trump, which aligns perfectly with Trump’s core interest. Together, they grant each other and all of their cronies a license to steal, take, and do as they wish. Everyone gets their piece of pie — so long as they stay in line.
Trump disdains the religious extremists who speak in tongues and pray over him, but so long as they pray to him, they get to do as they wish to America’s women. Elon Musk understands this. He wants to be America’s chief oligarch. Each of these people look at the displacement of wealth and power around Vladimir Putin, and think it is attainable here for them. They will cut the same deal with Trump, and enter into the same unholy alliance that has long sustained the Russian autocracy. They will become a type of American royalty, each a Prince Andrew free to do as they please to whomever they want, whenever they want, without consequence. They will be above it all. It’s just how fascism — or any authoritarian system — works.
Here is a description of Trump’s rally from Pennsylvania from The Washington Post:
Let’s not do any more questions. Let’s just listen to music. Let’s make it into a music. Who the hell wants to hear questions, right?” he [Trump] said.
For 39 minutes, Trump swayed, bopped — sometimes stopping to speak — as he turned the event into almost a living-room listening session of his favorite songs from his self-curated rally playlist.
He played nine tracks. He danced. He shook hands with people onstage. He pointed to the crowd. [Kristi] Noem stood beside him, nodding with her hands clasped. Trump stayed in place onstage, slowly moving back and forth. He was done answering questions for the night.
Please explain to me how this isn’t a cult.
I do not want the people in that room deciding this election. I do not trust their judgement. In fact, I think they are nuts.
Roughly 244 million Americans are eligible to vote and will make a decision that will reverberate around the world, and have enormous consequences for the American way of life.
The most important thing Kamala Harris can do is make sure there is no confusion about what is coming should these people win. There will be catastrophe. It must be talked about. Directly, clearly and constantly.
It’s time for America to end this madness and move forward.
It’s time for Kamala Harris to tell us where we are going.
The country craves change, but demands strength.
It’s time for Kamala Harris to rise to the occasion, and make clear what the future looks like without Trump.
Victory depends on it.
She’s going to need to get tough. Very, very tough.
The people who attend these things are a cult. Interesting to see Puppy Killer Kristi Noem is back in good graces. There appears to be hope now for Black Nazi Robinson to be in good graces.
Given everything I have seen — we all have seen — either people do not share our alarm or there is a large quiet majority that will take care of things on November 5th.
She needs to get tough?
Is toughness a virtue of women or discombobulated men?
She is who she is, a woman in a culture that like so many others where men have been empowered for the last several millennia rules rather than governs.
I hope women to the right of our political spectrum recognize how they have been and still are being played by men who have no respect for them or the children they bore.
This election will determine whether the overwhelming number of reasonable women and the men who support them will surface with the willingness to lead our nation which is at the forefront of world moral leadership.
We men have reduced human advancement to the number of troops and cruise missiles we can muster which as any person with a modicum of thought knows is an absurdity in this day and age.
No ands, ifs, or buts, we must elect Ms Harris for the sake of our and our children's future.
