I hope it is a river that leads to the end of MAGA, but I find myself still living in an ocean of MAGA. These are people who won’t change. It might be time for me to head back to Jersey. The pizza’s better there, too.

Husaria's avatar

Just like bacteria, we need to have some in our lives.

Too much bacteria and we get very sick. But, in small amounts we can make beer, yogurt, kapusta kiszonej ( sauerkraut ), medicines, vitamin K which helps our blood clot, cheese, etc, etc.

If their ( MAGANAZIs )numbers remain tiny and I mean really tiny like our POTUS’s IQ, then they will be a constant reminder for us. A reminder of what we can lose and why we must always fight and defend the American Republic and her ideals.

Agree 100% on the pizza in Jersey and NYC.

I have been talking to my neighbors lately… they aren’t happy either… doesn’t matter the reason… hope that helps.❤️

John,

I was born and raised in South Jersey, but lived nearly 20 years in Red Florida. I left there for California almost 5 years ago. At least I can breathe out here, but MAGA is everywhere unfortunately.

The other day, an acquaintance said how terrible it was that Mamdani is a social democratic; and yet, he is blind to the fact that Trump is a fascist!

Husaria's avatar

Unfortunately most Americans have no idea what a Democratic Socialist is. They also don’t have any clue what the difference between socialism and communism is.

When they hear socialism they think USSR. They think standing in line for toilet paper ( like Trump 1.0 during COVID ) or the Berlin wall.

When a co-worker of mine started spouting off about socialism I asked her to tell me what it is. There was a very uncomfortable 60 seconds of silence after I asked her that question. She couldn’t define what it was that bothered her about socialism. And she had no idea what socialism is.

Not to mention we already have socialism here is the USA.

The Interstate highway system

Air traffic control

Currency

Armed forces

Electricity

Medications

Airport security ( socialized post 9 / 11. Private prior to that. )

Retirement

Limited controls on healthcare.

Mail service

I could go on and on. Nations decide what they want to socialize. The difference between socialism and communism is that socialism doesn’t ban private competition of the free market. With Communism the govt controls everything. There is no free market competition.

For example, here in the USA we have an Interstate Highway system and a US Postal Service. The govt doesn’t ban or prohibit private roads or private postal delivery services. Communism would. There would only be one state approved mail service or road(s). There wouldn't be a state approved UPS, FEDEX, DHL or “ Grand Boulevard “ in Communism.

China for example also has “ Freedom of Religion “. You are free to worship anyway you want. Providing you worship at state approved churches. These churches are mouthpieces for the Communist Party.

Lisa Nystrom's avatar

Socialism is a good thing, or at least should be. I am not trusting enough to believe it would not end up corrupted in the end. I have trust issues…😞

Husaria's avatar

Agreed re: trust issues.

That’s exactly what happened in the USSR. It all sounded great after the Tzar got whacked / deposed. So many supported the revolution. They were all in. A new beginning. Or so they thought.

But, it turned out to be just like the lyrics in a song by the band The Who. “ Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss. “ And, for me the rest of that is “……..we don’t get fooled again……."

Husaria's avatar

Yes and no.

Marx wasn’t wrong about income inequality. He wanted capitalism to fail and thought it would fail. And, in our current era he isn’t wrong on those things. Demented Donnie’s “ Big beautiful bill “ saw a huge trickle of of wealth while 100% screwing the working classes.

But, capitalism doesn’t need to fail. We can provide certain controls that are a win / win for both workers and businesses. This is where the hard work starts.

How much regulation and taxes are enough? How much govt control is enough? That’s for our society and nation to decide IMO. And, where Congress needs to start the debate / discussion.

Capitalism and democracy has elevated the standard of living and freedom of people everywhere. However, much like drinking wine, a glass or two at dinner is a nice. Consuming bottles of it makes you a sloppy drunkard. When capitalism is allowed to run rampant without controls it turns into that sloppy drunkard. We’re looking at you big media companies, Amazon, Google, Health Insurance companies, etc, etc, etc

We have made a good start. Now to gain traction in the center of the country. Have they had enough of 'Trump winning'?

We need strong candidates who are not afraid to speak out and strong voters who are not afraid to vote for new direction.

Donna K. White's avatar

IMO: Last night the people said three things. 1. The people are sick and tired of Trump and his followers, and how they are ruining our country. 2. The majority of people want democracy. 3. The people were telling the Democratic establishment, that they want change.

Two moderate Democrats and one social Democratic were elected last night. What mattered to the people who voted, were the messages, and the authenticity of the candidates.

The DNC chair was interviewed on MSNBC today. He was smiling ear to ear, as if he was the winner! The way he spoke, you would think that he and the DNC supported Mamdani-he and the DNC did not, Schumer did not, and Jeffries barely did about a week ago-what hypocrites!

When will this conman’s followers comprehend how they are lied to each time the reptile’s pie hole slits open, how he cares not a lick for them? When will they see how the authoritarian oligarchical kleptocracy crawling upon democracy for 30+ years, now leaping boldly, is currently and vulgarly elbow deep in our treasure and power?

The sociopathic reptile is a lifelong cheater, liar and grifter. He abuses all who enter his orbit - workers, cohorts, challengers, authorities, the law, the system. He suffers from a delusional persecution complex.

He has dragged America and the entire globe into hell.

I hate every gaslit, propagandized, witless, selfish, heartless MF who supports him.

I am hoping that the ranchers are pissed at Trump for buying Argentinean beef. I hope the MAGAs, who have children who are receiving some kind of help at school, will get pissed, when special ed classes are cut. I hope that they will get pissed when prices rise, right before the holidays, because of Trump's tariffs. I hope that they will all get pissed when they see Trump racking in the dough, and turning the White House into a palace, while they struggle to put food on their table. I hope that they get pissed when their children come home from school with measles, or polio, or worse. I hope they get pissed when they realize that they had the AHC, and didn't know it, and the price of health care soars. And when they finally realize that they were conned all along, I can look at them and say-"Well, you voted for him!"

CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT NOW !!!! Get money out of politics. There’s never been a more overt example of the consequences of rich folks determining our fate than the pictures from this week: citizens being denied food, about to get hit with unaffordable health insurance while rich people stuff their bejeweled faces with canapés and bottomless plates at Mar a lago. While Trump shoes off the gold and marble bathroom and increases the budget on his ballroom, while politicians are given luxury military housing paid for by taxpayers. THIS IS THE TIME.

Marion's avatar

Yeah! No matter HOW much marble and gold is in a bathroom 😆his shit is STILL gonna stink!

Donna K. White's avatar

And, Elon Musk might be the first trillionaire! What a f**k-ed up world we live in! I think of the food being spoiled in warehouses, while children starve to death-all because of Musk. I hope there is a Hell, because all these heartless people deserve a Hell for eternity!

Bravo Steve! Let us take time to celebrate before continuing.

Chris Steinert's avatar

Yes Steve...the people are finally making their disgust with MAGA felt in a meaningful way. The fight will continue and Trump is enraged. But he is all stick and no carrot, something even his own base is finally coming to realize.

And when all the SNAP and tariff economic pain starts to really kick in, it can only get worse. I'm glad the fool remains surrounded by yes men/women who continually tell him what he wants to hear. Never giving an inch will be his end.

And we are sitting ducks for every kind of malice from our enemies due to the obvious incompetence of the maggots at the helm…. Lord help us

Yes we the people said, no you cannot destroy our beautiful country .. I know we have a lot more work to do .. And I know we have to hope our resolve will hold. i held my breath on NJ .. Hip hip

hooray ..The shithead insisting this morning that the Senate do away with the filibuster .. I thought go ahead .. In the end maybe we will get back the Senate too in 2026. I know maybe. But they could increase the number of justices on the Supreme Court if they get in and the filibuster is gone. They could probably undo a lot of the horrible things he is doing. I am trying to think positively .. thanks america ..

I don't find Mikie exciting in her speech, but I sure am excited about who she is, her enormous record as an adult. I "felt" she would win, and maybe that's because, like so many Americans, I am sick to death of the lying and corruption of trump and the republican party. I lived in Delaware for 23 years, just a step across from Philly and NJ -- I like the brash people of those areas, as well as NYC. I am furious (about so many things) about trump saying that he would stop the tunnel money going to NJ/NYC. He can't do that -- it's not his money. Wasn't it appropriated by Congress for this NEEDED project? Slower than we'd like, but the No Kings rallies.... and continuing every day .... and Chicagoans saying "no way" will ICE take our people, people have had enough. Did you say it, Steve? "If you love America, fight for her." I bought 4 of your wonderful signs, as well as the coffee mug I already have. ... sorry about your Blue Jays ....

Classic. Steve thank you. We now know our power. And it begins now.

Trump is badgering Republican senators to end the filibuster.

To paraphrase Barack Obama, please proceed, Republican senators. Ride that Trump train off a cliff.

Republicans can prove who's in charge of our government, and have been since the shutdown began. They own it. Democrats won't have to cave either. Win-Win.

Affordability In America And Purchasing Power Of The Dollar

It’s clear that there is an affordability crisis in the US So called “Socialist Democrats” Zohran Mamdami(New York) and Katie Wilson(Seattle) winning mayoral races in major US cities on opposite coasts of the country bring a resounding signal to America at large that the cost of living is a major issue concerning the electorate

But while the efforts at all levels of government should be applauded, the bandaids that are being put forth just like Harris tried to do in 2024 will not work because the underlying problem in the US economy is the failure of the currency and its purchasing power WHICH HAS LOST 99% OF WHAT IT WAS IN 1971 WHEN NIXON TOOK THE COUNTRY OFF A GOLD STANDARD That’s called inflation!!

The Fed’s economists are simply in denial that a return to a gold standard will help solve the inflationary spiral that the country is in along with cutting fiscal spending We are headed for a 1929 financial implosion unless the Fed wakes up but WE shouldn’t hold our collective breath The only thing to do now is get out of dollars and into Constitutionally(Article 1 Section 8)sound money which is gold and silver
