Selective outrage
Stop, in the Name of God: Why Honoring the Sabbath Will Transform Your Life” is the title of Charlie Kirk’s final book. It is available for $29.99 or $53 for the hard cover, which is expensive given the amount charged by MAGA for the beautiful Trump Bible is only $99.
Supposing Charlie were an apostle, he preached from under the same rock from which Father Coughlin slithered.
Coughlin anchored his ministry of hate in the quicksands of a political movement that sought domination in the name of a natural born supremacy. He held that one race is superior to another, and the Jew as a sinister agent plotting against pure Americans.
Charlie Kirk was no faith leader, and this isn’t the “God Squad:”

This is, however, the woman who desecrated the news values and ethics of CBS News as a business agent for Little Larry Ellison, whose acquisition strategy, beginning with his purchase of Paramount from Shari Redstone, will soon face congressional scrutiny in the 120th Congress:
When I was growing up in New Jersey during the 1980s I never thought about Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker as religious leaders.
I knew they were grifters.
The same goes for Erica Kirk, America’s “tradwife,” clad in the runner-up wardrobe choice for Serena Joy at a “The Handmaid’s Tale” commander promotion ceremony.
What occurred on CBS was grotesque — blasphemous even.

This is what Erica Kirk supports:
Bari Weiss should have asked what this flag meant to Charlie:

Kirk’s legacy makes clear that it meant everything, and so far as Charlie not stoking violence, bullshit.
When Charlie Kirk told the American people that an election was stolen he stoked violence. Make no mistake that he helped cause this with his lies.
His wretched legacy will receive no quarter at The Warning. No submissions will be made to the morality of Bari Weiss, or her judgement that what is important in America is hearing from the grifting widow of a white nationalist who supports an agenda that is tearing America apart.
But then again, Cronkite and Murrow definitely would have done the town hall, right?
Not.
What an embarrassment.
By the way, I wonder if Bari Weiss has reached out to speaker of the Minnesota House of Representatives Melissa Hortman’s family.
Melissa who?
I suppose that’s the problem with CBS, and come to think of it, the White House. The outrage always seems to be…what’s the word?…selective.

I like Julie Roginsky's take on Ms. Kirk....
"Only in America could a woman turn grief into a brand, heartbreak into media bookings, and widowhood into a multi-platform franchise. And only in Trump’s America could CBS gaze upon this spectacle and think: Yes, prime time. Saturday at 8.
"Welcome to the Erika Kirk Show, the influencer version of “Terms of Endearment,” except this one comes with sponsorships, a publicist, and a photo shoot."
I can't thank you enough for your posts.. this one especially . It is the clarity of the situation. The Charlie Kirk killing was wrong but to make him into some kind of an apostle is unforgivable. You are right, no one mentions the killings of Melissa and Mark Hortman. We are living in despicable times. It is unbearable. I have had a wondeful life. I know I am fortunate . I grew up in a family that believed in civil rights, women's rights, gay rights, collective bargaining. We marched against the Viet Nam War, the Iraq War. It was never against the soldier. Four of my brothers served proudly .. and later marched as well. All this effort, they are trying to throw all that out. And trying to do so much more so that at the end whatever we were will be no more. I will keep doing my part for as long as I can and hope for the best . lost in america Thanks again Steve.
