The 2024 presidential cycle is unfolding at a glacial pace through the winter and spring of the crucial off-year. Before we know it, the New Hampshire primary will be less than six months away.
The Republican candidates are Donald Trump and a bevy of his lieutenants, plus Senator Tim Scott, the collapsing Ron DeSantis and Chris Christie. Christie straddles the outer boundary of the plausibility line. Mostly, he seems to be harmlessly ambling through a happy period of increased attention at a fantasy politics camp where his ambition isn’t treated as a delusion by the “counselors,” a.k.a. the national political media.
