MAGA is a sinking ship. There will be chaos, rage, racial hatred, grievance and lunacy ahead. They will go, but not gently into the night.
Suddenly, the man who was measuring the drapes for his return to the Oval Office is lost, bewildered and utterly disoriented. Once again, The Donald is about to have something taken from him that he didn’t have the wits to defend. Like his casinos and businesses before, The Donald is about to face the consequences of moral bankruptcy. It will come in the form of a massive rejection by the American people who say, “No!” to his latest schemes and self-interested ploys.
The best part of this moment is that Donald Trump looked in the mirror and thought he was on the precipice of power again. The truth is that he will never set foot inside the White House again. No Trump ever will. There will be no portrait hangings and no honors. He has well earned the contempt of decent people and loyal Americans. He will always be reviled by his opponents, who he mused about killing, shooting and maiming. He fantasized about becoming dictator, while standing on a mound of ashes that were the incinerated US Constitution.
He will be forgotten by his supporters, who will deny their affinity and fervor in the years ahead. The most American thing to do — and something we are immensely accomplished at doing as a nation — is pretending it never happened at all. Ten years of thunder, noise, craziness and Trump will all fade to a forgotten whisper. He will be a punchline, disgraced, alone, cloistered. He will leave Earth as President Norma Desmond. When the day comes — as it does for us all when our earthly life ends — Trump will never lie in state under the Capitol Dome, which witnessed his insurrection. There will instead be a short service at Bedminster before he is planted next to the golf course, perhaps next to Ivana — or maybe not.

Today, an elderly American will continue to shame it, while his protégé continues to embarrass it.
The MAGA movement is the greatest collection of weirdos that has ever been, and it didn’t take Detective Benson to figure this out.
It has always been so.
The brilliance of Kamala Harris’s ascension has illuminated the sky, and something long true has suddenly been seen. We are under assault from a pack of extraordinary weirdness.
For years I’ve been pointing out that those within the MAGA movement are like the “Star Wars cantina,” comprised of “crooks, weirdos, wife-beaters.”
Let’s tell them “No!” No power. No control. No violence. No conspiracies. No weirdos. This seems like a good compromise to me.
It’s time to start looking forward again, which means we must leave some baggage on the side of the road to make room for the bundle of possibility that will be dawning soon enough.
This is America, after all.
I’m also left with profound gratitude and respect for Joe Biden. If it wasn’t for his steady leadership we could be in a very different and dark place.
The scene last night of wrongly imprisoned Americans and Russian freedom fighters getting out of Russia enraging Traitor Trump and his fellow idiot, Fake Hillbilly Vance, is very telling.
During my first trip to Saudi Arabia in 1995, my Saudi colleague the founder of their first medical school gave me a letter written in Arabic in case anybody hassled me. It did not take me long to recognize that some Saudis did not like Americans like the guard in the airport that found a very small Swiss Army knife that I carried to fix my glasses. I was taken to a room in the airport with two guards. I was scared that I would never see my wife or 3-year old son ever again. I showed the guards my letter and suddenly the mood changed 180 degrees and I was taken to the VIP room and fed snacks and soft drinks and personally escorted to the plane.
When I arrived in Riyadh, my luggage came out with my little Swiss Army knife wrapped in a ball of bubble plastic! If I had been imprisoned, I know Biden/Harris would have worked to get me out and Trump/Vance would let me rot in a Saudi jail!!!
