A wonderful piece of Americana. Ironically, today - or at least in the past six years, hopefully indeed the twighlight of an era -Teddy Roosevelt would be called a socialist, woke or worse. There was no doubt he was a progressive.

Sit down with a Black man in the White House? What? Leading the conservation movement and setting millions of acres aside as wildlife preserves? How dare him! Leading the ant-trust movement, under the Sherman Antitrust Act, against the corporate abuse of the American worker and monopolization of railroads? Standing up to JP Morgan and siding with the American laborer? Passing the Pure Food and Drug Act? The Meat Inspection Act? Greater regulation of the American economy?? Socialist!! Woke, I tell you!!

Yet, there is place for him on Mount Rushmore. Hope. Reason. A nod to the best of human spirit in America.

By the way, I've visited the graves of the Roosevelt brothers, Quentin (WW I) and Theodore, Jr. (WW II) at Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur- Mer. That cemetery is hallowed ground. Wish every American could visit it.

Thank you for bringing out the excitement I felt 60+ years ago as I watched those first space shots. I watched them all. Mrs. Willis was the 6th grade teacher who bought a portable TV so we could watch liftoff! I want to bring that joy and excitement back for young folks.

McKinley was so popular among his people back in Ohio, that It took just about 100 years for the name Mt McKinley and the national park associated with it to be changed to Danali. Even back in 1917, when the McKinley name was decided on, there was a big effort to call the park and the mountain Denali. The Ohio delegation had been steadfast the entire 100 years that whenever the political tide was flowing towards Denali, the Ohio delegation nix it. It took President Obama and his Interior Secretary, Sally Jewell, to finally do what Ohio wouldn't let happen. The United States sits between two great oceans, one wonders if the movement of tides across the land has always been its destiny.
