Pete Buttigieg was terribly victimized by an anonymous call regarding his children. What a disgrace to this country that an anonymous call would instigate a government investigation.

We’re down a dark and evil path thanks to the haters who vote. And they control our government. Ask Paul Gosar or Randy Fine. They win elections.

Martha Jones Eberle's avatar

John, I heard Jen Psaki read from Pete's post. It is BEYOND what any person of conscience would do. That lie produced trauma for the kids, Chasten, Pete, grandparents, all for a "supposedly political win"?!

Our sympathy to Pete and their family. Catch that anonymous caller and prosecute.

John D.'s avatar

We will not see a prosecution because the government wanted this. One word for it is persecution.

Husaria's avatar

Isn’t it a “ shame “ that Pete didn’t :

Cheat on his taxes

Rape a women in a dressing room

Have sex with a porn star and pay her to keep quiet

Brag about grabbing women’s private parts without their consent

Start a war, for no good reason, with no plan, all before any and all negotiations fail.

Start a trade war with our closest allies.

Berate and belittle our long time allies and friends.

Threaten to break up a multi-nation organization ( NATO ) that has kept the peace for over 70 years

Destroy a historic building ( White House ) without asking the historical committee that manages it first if he can change it in any way.

Defame the hall of POTUS with childish ad hominems of past POTUS’s

Give tax breaks to his collaborators while cutting services for those in need.

Start a coup ( 6 Jan ) to steal our American birthright which is the peaceful transfer of power.

Keep and take illegally classified docs and put them in a bathroom

Sow seeds of confusion and dissent to divide rather than unite us.

Poor, poor Pete. If he had done any of these things he would have been just fine and touted as a great American.

( sarcasm filter turned off now )

John D.'s avatar

It is glaringly a shame how twisted our country has become.

Husaria's avatar

Agree 100%

Hence my sarcasm.

If anyone with knowledge ( from back in the day ) of American tradition and norms saw what I wrote they wouldn’t believe it.

Gary Hart’s POTUS campaign was scuttled by a consensual affair with a staffer. Forget about all the good stuff he did and the “ atta-boys “ he received. One screw up back then and you’re toast. In 2026 it’s a different story and a sad state of affairs for our nation.

The only standards our nation possesses today are on toilets. No offense to American Standard. They make great products.

Police and child protective agencies have to take these calls seriously. Consider the consequences if they didn't. That said, there is no excuse for what was done. None whatsoever.

John D.'s avatar

The issue is the anonymous call. When an allegation is made like this, against someone with no prior history of anything like this, then the caller MUST FIRST BE VERIFIED by the government as real person who has provided enough information for probable cause.

Mary Roeser's avatar

Point well taken. I agree with you.

MM Harris's avatar

One has to be suspicious re who the "anonymous" caller really was......

Allen B from MD's avatar

Possibly "John Barron".

Martha Jones Eberle's avatar

Agree. Mikey is in panic mode. He fooled me at the beginning with his "christian" mode, but didn't take me long, to see his hypocrisy. To "use" christianity for politics, .... Jesus is crying.

Rick A.'s avatar

Martha, I am a Christian, a Baptist in fact, like Mike Johnson. He NEVER fooled me. I have seen his arrogant, self righteous, superior, performative and political “prick” form of “Christian” my entire 73 year long life, both in the political sphere and the “spiritual” sphere. There is no cancel culture like religious cancel culture, Kristin du Mez said the other day and she is right. The Mike Johnsons of the world sold their souls a long time ago to the evil Trump and the fake, blasphemous and perverse “religious right” political machine.

Martha Jones Eberle's avatar

Rick, thank you for your reply. I was raised in the protestant Methodist faith by loving, believing parents, that it is humans' duty to give to others, make the world better in that way. I "thought" anyone who called themselves a christian, would follow Jesus' example to love, forgive, help. When a child sings, "Red and yellow, black and white, ... they are precious in his sight," .... you just think christians are ALL good people. I know I'm sounding like an infant, but it is recent (and I'm 81) in this trump era, that I have been slammed in the face with this hate, selfishness, by people who "call" themselves christians. thank you for replying.

Rick A.'s avatar

Martha, amen and amen. Like I said, 73 year old Baptist of all things. Until Trump came along, I always made excuses that the worst of the Falwell and his ilk types of Christians in general and Baptists in particular were an aberration, they do not represent what you described and I believe IS Christianity. Real Baptists and real Christians do believe in the separation of church and state, are not racists, are not mean and cruel, etc. We are kind and loving Christians—even most Baptists! Boy, the last ten years the scales have fallen from my eyes. Not an aberration at all. I was wrong. I have been revolted and disgusted and yes, “slammed in the face.” I am ashamed, grieved and almost adrift. Glad I am not alone.

Thanks for spelling out the truth about Johnson and the loose cabal of Christian Nationalists who are conspiring to destroy our democracy. Too many of us have bought into their bullshit for too long.

My biggest fear is that we are going to slap the mf’ers on the wrist and say “Don’t do that again”. That is not accountability. Real crimes have been committed by this administration since before the 2016 election—the hush money trial was not about paying off a pornstar who had a one and done with a married man. It was about the catch and kill to keep it quiet until after the election. That’s election interference, which is a crime. Since then, it’s gotten worse. I want to see Jack Smith appointed to AG. He’s done all the legwork on the stolen classified documents, Jan 6th, and the fake electors bullshit. That’s where we start. Jan 6th and the fake electors plot is treason and sedition plain and simple. I know who I would like to see run in 2028… I know who I trust with the momentous task before this nation. And it’s not someone who thinks they could repurpose the ballroom/bunker.

I am sick of optics, marketing and all the bullshit oozing out of both parties. It’s time to rip off the fucking bandaid and speak plainly. There’s no place for dishonesty and deception in governance.

I’ve said it before and I will say it again. The only way we get accountability is electing someone with your ideals, knowledge and understanding of the history of this nation. If that’s not you, Steve, I hope he shows himself sooner, rather than later.

This post this morning has me fired up! Fuck Mike Johnson. He made his bed…choices have consequences.

"Donald Trump’s corruption was never a solitary enterprise. He was both the foundation of it and its apex. Between the base and the summit lies an enormous architecture of corruption that has yet to be fully exposed."

That statement summarizes the extent of the incompetence and corruption endemic to our federal government today. The area between the "base and the summit" of the corruption and incompetence includes an incredible number of federal judges, including SCOTUS justices, members of Congress, cabinet members, heads of agencies etc.

Will we have the resources necessary to investigate, indict, and try all of the criminals in Trump's regime?

Anthony j. Santo's avatar

It should be noted that the sins of incompetence and corruption are accompanied by unimaginable acts of wanton cruelty. The cruelty of the Trump regime has been given free rein by the six fascist justices of SCOTUS. Last Thursday (June 25th) the court decided to allow the regime to end temporary protected status for migrants who fled violence and natural disasters in Haiti and Syria. This will affect 350,000 Haitians and 6000 Syrians who have had their TPS status extended regularly, many for several decades.

The result will be the return of migrants who continue to face gang violence, kidnapping, torture, and death in their countries of origin. Adding to the cruelty of the Trump regime’s heartlessness is that many must decide whether or not to leave their children, American by birth, behind and likely never see them again.

The cruelty extends to many Americans. TPS holders are often employed as caregivers in nursing homes and facilities for the disabled; many of those disabled are American veterans injured during combat. A shortage of caregivers is an inevitable consequence of this thoughtless SCOTUS decision.

There is no rational basis for the Court’s decision or for the regime’s cruelty. Both are based on racism and xenophobia. During the 2024 campaign Trump, with absolutely no evidence, accused Haitians of eating the pet dogs and cats of American citizens.

This horrific hatred of those of color and immigrants generally, unless they are white and preferably from Scandinavia or South Africa, could lead to the end of protection for over one million people from several countries, with devasting consequences for the deported and our country.

Patricia Baron's avatar

Thank you, Anthony, for mentioning the caregivers. My mother's caregiver was a wonderful Haitian woman. Gems like her will be deported while scum like the racist, Megyn Kelly continue to infect our nation with their hatred. This is our nation's saddest moment yet.

Monsters often marry monsters:

"White House adviser Stephen Miller’s wife has publicly celebrated a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that will strip Temporary Protected Status, or TPS, from hundreds of thousands of Haitian and Syrian migrants, reviving a controversial debate claim made by Donald Trump.

Katie Miller posted a video clip on social media of Trump from the September 2024 presidential debate during which the president made a baseless claim regarding Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio. 'Great news for the dogs and cats of Springfield,' Miller wrote to accompany the clip.

The social media post followed a 6-3 Supreme Court decision on Thursday along ideological lines, in which the conservative majority ruled that the executive branch has the unreviewable authority to terminate TPS designations."

Despicable. This is right out of Hitler's playbook. Americans had better wake up and care about something more than their own economic worries.

Sick puppy Megyn Kelly should go back to the potato farm in Ireland where her family originally came from. She belongs there where she can rant and rave like a lunatic among the potato fields without hurting anyone.

What's amazing about the statement is, he is describing the current trump agenda, using every lever of our government to investigate his critics; yet he is blind to it!

Fear of true accountability of horribly corrupt lawmakers...Lets get to it!

For the life of me I cannot understand how the Supreme Court got away with granting president Trump immunity from prosecution for committing federal crimes while in office. That decision is not theirs to make. It's blowing a hole in the Constitution that can sink the ship of state, ending the American experiment. If some people want to change the Constitution then they should try adding another Amendment which needs the approval of the people in this country. Check out Article #5 in the Constitution. It does not give the Supreme Court any say in the matter. The Supremes effectively raped the Constitution.

Garland: He moved too slowly, he moved with trepidation. He moved with diffidence. At hearings and at press conferences his voice quaked and trembled, almost like a synthesizer voice repeating the phrase "without fear or favor." At one hearing Tom Cotton bashed Garland then got up and left the room before Garland could respond. Instead of responding while he had the floor, Garland was wide-eyed and silent. I saw it myself. Garland's physical carriage, his verbal and facial manner and his management of DOJ projected an image of a fear-filled man who hid in and hid behind DOJ for most of his legal career. When he became AG, Garland felt exposed, vulnerable. He was no man to be a leader. Ron Klain, promoted Garland to the AG's position and over other recs for Doug Jones. Klain was a milk-toast go-along to get-along guy promoting another milk-toast, Garland. It's unfortunate Biden went along with Klain, one of the Dem party's long-time marshmallow men, for so much of Biden's term. The time for Biden, Klain, Garland is over. "Resist" is not in their vocabulary. Their personalities are not a fit for the future of this country.

We will have the votes to win both the House and the Senate.

However, I worry most about the question "Will our votes be counted?"

Every day there is more evidence that the 2024 election was fixed by changing the counting machine votes. Many election investigation experts are finding that the fringe state Presidential elections and more were fixed to maintain just enough to give Trump "victories".

For example "This will hold" commentaries and others such as ETA=https://electiontruthalliance.org/ all indicate that the counting disagreed wth known local paper ballots.

And now in 2026 even more machines are made and owned and counted by Republicans.

We need immediate recounts of the baper ballots - they must not be handed over to Trump's gang of thieves..

Jacquelyn Wolverton's avatar

I have studied much of the research that went into coming to this conclusion Gordon. It’s staggering. And considering myself a person who can understand most of what I read, it was pretty complex to read. I believe it. And I believe they will try it again. Are we ready to counter this is the question.

Henri Bigo's avatar

I once heard an Air Force general say, "we take care of our good people by 'taking care' of our bad ones." I understood that as ensuring accountability because the good people can see what the bad ones get away with, and usually can't do anything about it; they rely on someone with power to enforce the rules against the chronic rule-breakers. Nothing different here. You let these corrupt officials slide, everybody loses faith in system.

kasperhauser's avatar

The *%^heads who pick their voters have proven beyond any reasonable belief that they can't handle any kind of accountability.

The Republicans passed 700 bills to protect the American people? Is there a list of these bills? If they are not true, who is defending this testimony? How many Americans believe what Johnson is saying is true?

1. Nemesis is on the move and she's bringing the Furies with her. MAGAT Mikey is scared shitless. He has a guilty mind. He knows the damage he and the other gutless eunuchs have wrought. Guilty minds need no accusers.

2. MAGAT Mikey's protection racket isn't worth anything.

3. It is beyond me what sort of a soul-shriveled pissant would do what was done to Pete Buttigieg and his family.

4. My heart goes out to Pete, Chasten, and their children. I wish them God's best as they deal with this trauma.

Let’s hope we can prevail in November. If not, Trump and Johnson will complete the demolition of our Republic, and ironically, their corruption and incompetence will precipitate an economic crisis unlike anything experienced since 1929.

Gary Epstein's avatar

Kim, did you see the movie "Civil War" shown a few years ago? It looks like we might be heading that way in reality.

A.Gnosticthefirst's avatar

We will never know what kind of Supreme Court justice Garland might have been, but he rose to his level of incompetence as US Attorney General.

It is clear that Mike Johnson understands accountability and it's equally clear that he fears it. He knows what his role has been in delivering the results Trump wants and he knows the some of the subpoenas will have his name on them. Prosecutors call this "consciousness of guilt."
