Steve—thank you for your thoughtful words. Just one small correction on the Vietnam Memorial. Some, like my father, came from privilege and still felt it was their duty to serve. He joined the Marine Corps and led Marines there because he believed the cause was just, the mission honorable. He came home disillusioned—but he went voluntarily.
This is so important. Thank you for your eloquence and the power in your words and the faith in the country and the people. Many of us are faltering as the madness becomes too painful. Your words revive us. Thank you. Will join and contribute to the Save America Movement now.
How I would love to hop in the car and join you all in good old New Jersey, (raised in Mendham when it was dairy farm country).
Your half hour post landed in my inbox just after I watched the terrifying news clip of NYC City Comptroller Lander getting abducted by ICE agents in a city municipal building. The timing reminded me how vital your and other Substack writers posts are. Thank you for your unflagging efforts to keep us grounded.
Lived/worked in The Gulf 95-15 (Bahrain, Doha, Dubai so have a bit of insight. Retired Navy SEAL. Trump calls for Iran's 'UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER" This has the potential to go south REAL fast. Antagonizing Iran with threats/posts like that is IMO not going to work with Ayatollah's that believe in national martyrdom. There is only one path to a "unconditional surrender" in Iran and we do NOT have the stomach for that. Hope someone is telling Trump one big difference between a Shia and a Sunni Muslim is when a Sunni prays to Allah there is nothing between him and Allah. For a Shia Muslim there is. It is the Ayatollah and they do what the Ayatollah says. Not all but The Revolutionary Guard will and they have all the guns.
Thank you, Steve. Everything seems so out of control right now. We're living in a defining moment in history and it's up to us to remember who we are, good and bad, and decide who we really want to be. Your words are always inspiring. Sometimes, terrifying, but always motivating. I really appreciate your voice, your knowledge, and your grounding strength in these incomprehensible times. Thanks, again. (PS - I was stationed at Ft. Dix back in the day. They used to have incredible pizza at a little bar/restaurant not far from the post gate in Wrightstown. Still dream about that pizza.)

Semper fi, Steve.
Thank you Steve! If YOU don't wish to or cannot, run for President or other office, then I wish you to be a senior advisor too whoever does.
America needs more of this kind of insight and knowledge of history.
Wonderful words, Steve, and have a good visit to our former home called New Jersey. I sure do miss the pizza there.
Another NewJerseyite fan of Steve’s who also totally misses the pizza!!!’

Dazzlingly brilliant! If only a Democrat or Republican would say half of that. Somebody prominent. But that would require grace under pressure.
Want to meet an extraordinary democrat? Check this out. NYC Mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani.
