Hey guys
My name is Tyre D. Nichols. I am an aspiring photographer. Well I mostly do this stuff for fun but i enjoy it very much. Photography helps me look at the world in a more creative way. It expresses me in ways i cannot write down for people. I take different types of photograhy, anywhere from action sports to rural photos, to bodies of water and my favorite.. landscape photography. My vision is to bring my viewers deep into what i am seeing through my eye and out through my lens. People have a story to tell why not capture it instead of doing the "norm" and writing it down or speaking it. I hope to one day let people see what i see and to hopefully admire my work based on the quality and ideals of my work. So on that note enjoy my page and let me know what you think.
Your friend,
Tyre D. Nichols
The Chief of the Los Angeles Police department ordered the removal of “blue line” flags from the lobbies of LA police buildings, correctly pointing out that the flag has been co-opted by extremists, including January 6 insurrectionists. Here is what Chief Moore said:
“It’s unfortunate that extremist groups have hijacked the use of the ‘Thin Blue Line Flag’ to symbolize their undemocratic, racist, and bigoted views. Flags serve as powerful symbols with specific meanings.”
He added that officers would still be allowed to display the flag in their personal work spaces, lockers and personal vehicles.
The L.A. Times reporting continued:
Moore’s decision went viral in right-wing media circles as critics lambasted him for what they called his kowtowing to progressive ideals. During one of her regular appearances on Fox News, former reality star and Olympic decathlete Caitlyn Jenner accused Moore of “going woke on us big time” and predicted that the move would deal a blow to officer morale.
Sal LaBarbera, a former LAPD homicide detective who has amassed a large following on Twitter, posted that the department was making national headlines “for the most embarrassing reason.”
“Calling Chief Michael Moore weak for caving to the communist Mayor. Grow a spine, support the troops and law and order,” read his tweet, which used the hashtag #BackTheBlue.
The flag issue is a simple one. The flags that are appropriate to be flown in any LA police building are as follows: the US flag, the California state flag, the Los Angeles County flag, the city of Los Angeles flag and the LA Police Department flag. Period.
The Sal LaBarbera quote is where the issue becomes stickier. He tweeted this:
Cops aren’t troops. Soldiers are troops. Cops are police officers.
Police aren’t soldiers. Their job is policing. Their charge is to protect and serve. The American citizen is not an enemy, and if any soldier beat an enemy to death like Tyre Nichols was killed, the soldier would be charged as a war criminal under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ).
There is an undeniable truth about policing in America. It needs serious reform, higher standards, better pay, more training, and more psychologically stable cops. There is an extremism and incompetence problem in American policing. There seems to be a lack of understanding about the basic civil liberties that are the birthright of EVERY American citizens.
Tyre Nichols was beaten like an animal, and while he was crying out for his mother in terror and fear, he was executed by Memphis police officers.
The notion that this murder is an occasion to rally to the side of rhetoric that asserts that all cops are good when clearly some are murdering thugs is an absurdity. The conduct witnessed on the video that was released by the Memphis Police Department was murder.
Tyre Nichols signed off on his welcome to the website showcasing his photography with “your friend” to the strangers that might find their way to peek at the images created by a young man who took the time to stop, observe and create.
The last images in his mind’s camera were the brutal faces of his murderers who savaged him with violence and mayhem.
No doubt these cops will be defended by the same extremists who attacked and bludgeoned police officers on January 6, 2021.
Every good cop in America should rebuke these criminals by demanding reform and that their departments be elite police forces that protect, and not kill their citizens. They should understand most of all how everyone who wears a badge and a gun has been stained.
The images from Memphis are state violence against an American citizen. It was an attack on all of us. It was an outrage against justice and liberty.
Those former police officers should draw their last breaths in a prison cell. May God have mercy on them because the criminal justice system should show them none — because none is due.
May Tyre Nichols rest in peace. His life was stolen from him, and his family shattered because the Memphis Police Department is a clearly broken institution. These cops were just the ones who killed. The Department of Justice should launch an immediate investigation of the so-called SCORPION unit of the Memphis Police Department. What they are likely to find is a gang of thugs with badges, guns, tasers and police cruisers. It’s probably a good idea to take most all of that away.
Oh, my God. Those innocent, sweet words of self-explanation of his passion for photography are deeply moving, in and of themselves. Then to think what torture this sweet soul experienced -- as you say, the last image in his mind before he died -- is so completely opposite from this lovely person, no words. No words. Just tears. I don't know how his mother can stand it, knowing that her beloved son's final words were him calling to his Mama for help. I don't know how she will live with this horrible knowledge. I won't be watching the video. Reading his sweet words is enough for me. Prayers for his mother, his family, his little son. Prayers for Tyre that he rest in the arms of Angels for as long as it takes for him to become fully healed -- emotionally, physically, spiritually healed and ready to move forward in his Soul's journey.
These 2 videos released today have left us all grieving for America. You are all so eloquently speaking to this moment. I have 2 rather simplistic comments to add, maybe not so deep, but things we could change.
We are a military family. I am offended by all the disrespectful versions of the American flag, black, blue, trumpy, on sandals and t shirts. We should have higher standards.
Another very simple take away- why is a police unit like that doing traffic stops?
Always, love the eloquence of Steve and his subscribers.
